Combined HIV-CMV encephalitis presenting with brainstem signs

Abstract

Two cases ofcombined HIV-CMV encephalitis are described. One presented with a sixth nerve palsy and a tetraparesis, the other with an internuclear ophthalmoplegia. Pathologically brain stem involvement was predominantly due to CMV.
