In this project design and implement a home embedded surveillance system with ultra-low alert power. Traditional surveillance systems suf er from an unnecessary waste of power and the shortcomings of memory conditions in the absence of invasion. In this design we pressure sensors as the alert group in windows and doors where an intruder must pass through. These low-power alert sensors wake up the MCU (Micro Controller Unit) which has power management for the ultrasonic sensors and PIR sensors indoors. This state transition method saves a large number of sensors required for the alert power. We also use the Majority Voting Mechanism (MVM) to manage the sensor groups to enhance the probability of multiple sensors sensing. After the MCU sends the sensor signals to the embedded system, the program starts the Web camera. Our sensing experiment shows that we reduce the system’s power consumption.

Abstract—This paper develops a user-controlled low power home surveillance system with the help of low power sensor groups. The system helps to avoid unnecessary wastage of power and shortcomings of memory conditions. It consists of two sensor groups; alert sensor group which is placed outdoor near doors and windows and detection sensor group which is placed indoor. The alert sensor group senses when an intruder passes through and wakes up the MCU in sleep mode. This activated MCU provides power supply for detection sensor group. When the detection sensor group detects the presence of intruder, the signals will be given to the MCU. It will turn on the web camera to capture images and upload them by means of web server through Internet. Only user can control the entire surveillance system by establishing a call through GSM. In addition to it, this system helps to monitor the household activities in real time from anywhere. Keywords—Home Embedded surveillance, Low-power

Internet of Things provides connectivity and user interoperability among different systems, devices, networks and services in particular control systems. IoT can be envisioned as a network of connected devices which are capable of providing intelligent services. This paper presents a security surveillance system in buildings based on IoT using Raspberry Pi. It can be used at industries, homes and office etc, where the camera records the movement of objects and using IoT devices and the data is stored on to the server. The idea is to lock the door even from outside the house and it can be opened using the android phone itself. If some intruder tries to break or to get in anonymously, the system will detect the person and photo will be clicked by the security camera and send the message along with photo on to the owner's mail, thus creating the evidence for our safety. Some additional features for automation like rain sensing windows using rain sensor and servo motor and automatic light on/off for saving electricity and reduce human effort with IR senor and a simple led have also been implemented in this paper. Hardware implementation has been done for the proposed model and it will be applicable for monitoring home, industry, office etc. in the absence of user.

We live in a world where breaking and entering, burglary and trespassing are increasing day by day. Keeping a check at home while giving security measures to the homeowner and complete control of what is happening in and around the house is very important at this time. Because of the increasing number of threats and disruptions that occur in the community, all residential households need a security plan to live a better life with safety. Home automation is about comfort, efficiency, and savings, improving one's standard of living. Home security has made major changes in the last few decades and will continue to improve gradually in future. Previously home security systems meant having an alarm sounded when someone broke in but a smart secure home does more than that. The proposed system comprises a combination of a unique wedge lock mechanism, a Linear Actuator, Raspberry Pi, Camera Module attached to it. The system will help users to protect their homes with facial recognition by installing it on doors or windows and monitor activities with their smartphones. Using the concept of Internet of Things (IoT), we can develop a Smart Home Security System, which would be efficient enough and take necessary actions accordingly. The proposed system can be the first step towards safer housing facilities.
In recent years embedded systems have gained more importance. These systems are especially dedicated to specific tasks which are handled by highly optimized solutions. One of the interesting areas of embedded systems use is multi-media. Producing, processing, streaming various multimedia types and interacting with the physical environment is very common today. The security factor of residential homes today has become a necessity, especially the use of monitoring cameras (CCTV) which function as a medium for monitoring activities that occur at home, when left uninhabited. This study aims to create a system that can document activities that occur in residential rooms through the application of the IoT concept. The system created is equipped with a Passive Infra Red sensor which is used to detect people in the room and automatically activates the alarm and camera to take pictures when someone is indicated to be in the room, and will send image data taken to the web server and notifications to homeowners via Android Smartphones. so that wherever the owner of the house is, he can know if someone has entered his house. The test results show that the system can carry out the process of securing the room, through detecting the movement of people in the room. If the PIR sensor detects someone in the room, the system will automatically activate the alarm, take 5 pictures and send the captured image to the web server as monitoring data, and send notifications to homeowners via Smartphone devices. The data stored on the web server can be printed in pdf format as monitoring data or reporting data.

Abstract: Forgetting to put off the electrical device while not in use, keeping the device ON while not necessary, thus leading to wastage of power has become common in our day to day life. Not much attention is paid towards such silly mistakes, but these little wastages can form a formidable amount of overall energy wastage if we consider the same mistake happening in every work place, house, educational institute, public place etc. In today’s world, wherever everybody needs to keep their valuables safe and secure, video surveillance for observing a particular area has become the need of the hour. We are proposing a system which consists of PIR sensor for energy saving and MEMS Accelerometer sensor identify intrusion attack and alerts to the owner using GSM Modem. We can observe the person using live camera on webpage.

It is needless to say the importance of automation and security systems in the present era. In this paper we propose simple solutions for automation of electrical appliances and home security. We propose to control automatic turn on and turn off of electrical appliances like electric bulb, Air conditioner, electric fan etc.; with respect to the human motion detection rather than using manual switch on/off system. Another solution is controlling the Air conditioner temperature depending on the room temperature. We propose another function to provide security. In all these applications, the Arduino Uno processing unit is used, along with 3 different sensors. To detect the human presence PIR (Passive Infrared) Sensor is used, temperature sensor (LM35) is used to detect the room temperature and Ultrasonic (HC-SR04) sensor is used to detect the presence of objects. If there is any human movement it is detected by the PIR Sensor and the lights will turn on. If the room temperature is above the given temperature set, it is detected by the temperature sensor and the Air conditioner will turn on directly. If there is any object that is detected by the ultrasonic sensor it is detected by the sensor and a buzzer is set that starts emitting sound.

Internet of Things (IoT) conceptualizes the idea of remotely connecting and monitoring real world objects (things) through the Internet]. When it comes to our house, this concept can be aptly incorporated to make it smarter, safer and automated. This IoT project focuses on building a smart wireless home security system which sends alerts to the owner by using Internet in case of any trespass and raises an alarm optionally. Besides, the same can also be utilized for home automation by making use of the same set of sensors. The leverage obtained by preferring this system over the similar kinds of existing systems is that the alerts and the status sent by the wifi connected microcontroller managed system can be received by the user on his phone from any distance irrespective of whether his mobile phone is connected to the internet. The microcontroller used in the current prototype is the TI-CC3200 Launch pad board which comes with an embedded micro-controller and an onboard Wi-Fi shield making use of which all the electrical appliances inside the home can be controlled and managed.
