AI-generated Abstract
The collection of papers titled "Precarious Migrant Labour Across Europe" examines labor market stratification in relation to migration and integration policies affecting third country migrants. It emphasizes the precarious nature of migrants' work in various economic sectors while analyzing national policies influenced by the European Union. Through qualitative methods, the research seeks to highlight the lived experiences of migrants, challenging traditional categorizations and advocating for more inclusive policies that consider their transnational activities.

This Research Note is divided into two parts. The first part examines the income of migrants relative to the native-born population and how it changed over 2007-2013, a period in which economic recession was followed by at best low growth in most parts of the EU. It considers, in particular, those on low income and the potential reasons why more of them are both in the bottom income quintile and at risk of poverty than the native-born, specifically with regard to their age structure, their employment situation, their education level and their household circumstances. It examines also their access to social protection, in specific, to unemployment benefits and healthcare, and their housing conditions, in both cases in relation to the native-born population and how the situation has changed over recent years. The main focus is on whether there is any evidence of their income and living conditions converging towards those of the native-born since 2007. The second part examines social attitudes of migrants, again in relation to those of the native-born population, including their trust in institutions and people; their social values, their voting patterns and other forms of civic and political participation, the extent to which they feel part of society and their perception of the extent of discrimination; and social belonging. The analysis is based on data from the European Social Survey (ESS). As in the first part, a particular interest is in the way that these aspects have changed in recent years and the extent to which they have come closer to the native-born in these respects.

The aim of this study was to examine the migration policy of the European Union EU and to identify its strengths and problems requiring improvement. In order to achieve the objectives, set, international standards, EU legislation, the analysis of EU statistical data and the study of scientific opinions on the problem have been analyzed. It is concluded that the main areas of EU migration policy are the following: the principle of human rights and freedoms; political equality and mutual assistance of the member states of the union; border protection and prevention of illegal migration; integration and inclusion of migrants in the social phenomena of the receiving country; management of migration processes and migration management; negotiation and cooperation policies with third countries; ensuring “circular migration”; active participation of the labor force, particularly highly skilled workers; active participation of migrants in the labor market and of their families, which is a key factor for the success of migration.
Studia i Dyskusje, 2018
Even more intensely since the recession, employment conditions deteriorated, and welfare systems continued their reforming processes. Southern European countries saw their labour market situation worsened. Immigrants were one of the social groups more affected by high unemployment, informal and precarious working conditions. The article focuses on the main groups of immigrants in Portugal (Brazilians, Ukrainians and Cape Verdeans). It aims to test if and how, depending on their different forms of insertion into the labour market and relationship with the social protection system, these groups of immigrants coped with massive unemployment and precarious working conditions in different ways. According to the country of origin, weak/strong networks, secure/insecure position at work or personal circumstances, they could either choose to stay, re-emigrate or return to their origin countries. Empirical analysis is based on focus groups with unemployed immigrants, an online survey, and statistical data analysis. Findings suggest that, in a highly segmented labour market, under a weak and fragmented social protection system, the migrants’ individual decision is induced by the social structure, and not so much by individual agency.

Second Class EUropeans? The migratory processes and the labour (im)mobilities of Romanian qualified women in Madrid., 2017
Participation in the labor market is one of the most important components of integration in the host country. This study is situated on two broad topics: female migration and labour mobility within the European Union. Throughout the research I will explore the nexus between both of them from a gender perspective. Therefore, the legal and political context of Romanians in Spain at the EU level is going to be drawn. The purpose is to understand and examine how institutional processes shape the migratory paths and labour trajectories of qualified Romanian women in Madrid, Spain. This research delves into the specificities and circumstances of the participants in order to understand their labour (im)mobilities as EU citizens and the influences of the institutional shifts and restrictions. Thus to analyze the further consequences on this collective. This dissertation questions at the same time the feminization and disqualification of „care labours‟. The research and conclusions will be built according to the central focus of this research, the life stories of nine Romanian women. Therefore, a qualitative research with an ethnographic approach has been conducted. Their narratives are supported by secondary nature interpretation of policies and literature. Key words: EU citizenship, mobility, reproductive labours, labour mobility, Romanian, migrant women.
The CPoS special issue presented here is the result of a two-day international conference entitled "Rethinking Migration in Times of Economic Crisis in Europe", which was outlined by the coordinators of this issue and held at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin in December 2010. Starting point was the question, to what extent the at nt the at that point subsiding economic crisis impacted upon the employment of migrants? Could an interrelationship between the economic-and fi nancial crisis and the employment situation of migrants even be established? And were there any comparable historical precedents or perhaps regional examples for dealing with such crisis situations?
Migrant policies and practice in selected countries, 2023
Migration has long been one of the frequently discussed topics both in the professional and lay public. The intensity of these discussions and scientific interest has increased significantly in recent years. The reason was mainly the migration crisis in Europe in 2014, but also the increase in migration to the USA in recent years. However, much less attention has been paid to migration crises in Asia and the African continent. This is also why we decided that in this monograph we will bring views of migration policy and its practice in selected countries not only in Europe, but also in Asia, Africa and America. When creating the individual chapters, the authors used different research methods in order to bring different perspectives on migration policy and its practice. We consider this heterogeneity to be very important for a comprehensive perception of the problems and challenges that migration brings in the contemporary world. Considering the relative reduction of distances caused by globalization, we can assume that various forms of migration will continue to be a challenge. These challenges undoubte
