This paper examines the complexities surrounding ethical practices in the field of ethnography and the challenges of defining ethics within this discipline. It highlights the subjective nature of ethical considerations that vary by individual and contextual factors, emphasizing the responsibility of ethnographers to reflect collectively on ethical dilemmas, build trust with subjects, and navigate the potentially disruptive nature of their work while respecting the beliefs and understandings of the communities they study.

The concept of ethics is often an object of misconception, misinterpretation and mismatching with other terms like morality, value and aesthetics in philosophy especially among undergraduate students of Arts and Humanities. It is evident that a good number of them are sometimes confused when it comes to the definition and meaning of ethics, its differences from the notion of morality and the relationship between the two in moral philosophy. There are those that do not know why there are various ethical theories and justification for them in the society that cherished such ethical theories. Again, there are young learners who desire to know the similarities, differences and relationship between normative and meta-ethics. Therefore, this paper is concerned with the definition and meaning of ethics, the differences between meta-ethics and normative ethics, the differences between ethics and morality, the significance each plays in the understanding of ethics and implications inherent in their relationship with one another. Besides, the paper also gives a general survey of special ethics to young and curious minds with reference to various professions that are growing up in leap and bound of our contemporary society.

Drawing on four ‘tales from the field’, provided one each by the authors, this article examines the ethical and moral dilemmas ethnographers can face during their research. In particular, we address two key questions. First, what does being ethical actually involve? Second, is there a moral duty owed by researchers and, if so, to whom is this duty owed? The article reviews current debates over ethics in ethnographic research, specifically the responsibilities of the researcher to his/her research subjects, before turning to the four ‘tales from the field’. These tales form the basis for a discussion of a researcher’s ethical responsibilities when confronted with wrongdoing, in different forms, in the course of their fieldwork.

A review on the symposium “The Status of Ethics in Society” (Ljubljana, Slovenija, June 17, 2019) provided by Tinkara Tihelj and Gašper Pirc consists of two parts: a thematic introduction and a full report of discussions held. In the first text, one of the organizers and the moderator of the public discussion Gašper Pirc provides a foreword to the symposium, referencing the thematic horizon and the particular issues that the discussion intended to tackle. The text is the expanded version of his introductory speech at the symposium and relays the interpretation of contemporary society which was instrumental for the decision of the organizers to chart the said event. In the second part of the section, Tinkara Tihelj provides a full report of the discussion, including a short overview of the specific contribution of each participant. The report also reflects her own views on the importance of such events in the current society, pervaded by the lack of rational communication and dialogue between different approaches to interpretation and different academic disciplines.
The ethical code of conduct can be ideally defined as the spiritual and the ideological foundation of a given human society. This concept helps the individuals comprehend their fellow human beings and the surrounding environment and then use this information to take the adequate decisions. The success of any human society has been attributed to the overall ideological and ethical beliefs, as they contribute in the development of the majority of the societal norms and the rules. The most significant factor regarding the concept of ethics is based on the relativity factor, and the different interpretations of ethics found in the major global societies.
