Operationalising the notion of ethics, along with its applications in the field of entrepreneurship, has made possible the investigation of the influence exerted by the socio-cultural, economic, and legal environment on entrepreneurs' ethical behavior while they engage in the process of entrepreneurship. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of socio-cultural, economic, and legal factors on the development of business ethics. On the other hand, we analyze the influence of the development of business ethics on the entrepreneurial process. The population of the study contained 57 Tunisian young entrepreneurs in different sectors. In order to gathering the data required for measuring the study variables a questionnaire was developed. The results of the study showed that some personal traits as well as certain socio-cultural, economic, and legal factors influence their decision during the entrepreneurial process. It has been noticed that there are significant differences between the levels of development in the ethical orientation characterizing each phase of the entrepreneurial process. These differences are related to the entrepreneur's strategy, the organizational environment, and stakeholders' strategies.

Recent work in the fields of ethics and entrepreneurship has raised the possibility that entrepreneurs may differ from other individuals in the moral issues they face, in their moral judgements and behaviors concerning those issues, and even in their level of cognitive moral development. While this work has been exploratory and its conclusions tentative, the findings raise two interesting questions: do entrepreneurs actually differ from non-entrepreneurs in their ethical orientations and, if so, why? We propose a model of ethical decision making for small business entrepreneurs. We suggest some ways in which the ethical framework of entrepreneurs may differ systematically from that of other business people and propose some areas for future research.

In this study, we develop a conceptual framework for the examination of cross-cultural differences in ethical attitudes of business people based on the assumptions of integrative social contract theory (ISCT). ISCT reveals the relevant cultural and economic norms that are predictive of the level of the ethical attitudes among societies and at the same time points out the more subtle impact of social institutions on ethical attitudes of different groups within a society. The evidence supports the use of integrative theoretical approaches within the field of business ethics.

A business activity as a worship will encourage a Muslim to become a successful entrepreneur in this world and the hereafter. Even so, there are Muslim entrepreneurs who conduct business regardless of the meaning lawful or unlawful in Islamic side. They do business in a way wrong (unethical) to provided good returns. The concept of business ethics in Islam can make a conscious entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs who fear will always be steadfast in order to realize entrepreneurial comprehensively and according to Islamic law. This paper reviews and extends the literature on entrepreneurs' ethical behavior. Building heavily on previous ethical decision making models, we argue that the nature of both the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurship context warrant additional theorizing within the ethics literature. We propose that entrepreneurs face unique and conflicting internal and external drivers of ethical behavior. While entrepreneurs' higher propensity for intuitive decision making and higher internal locus of control may lead to relatively higher ethical conduct, a need for achievement may produce the opposite result. Likewise, in the course of engaging in entrepreneurial activities, the entrepreneurs' higher accountability and concern for reputation may lead to relatively higher ethical conduct, while the increased uncertainty may countervail these pressures. us, the entrepreneur and the entrepreneurship context come together to create a unique and complex system of tensions that may or may not lead to ethical conduct. We discuss the implications of these tensions and future directions for research.

Data were obtained using both primary and secondary sources. The primary data was obtained by using a structured questionnaire design. Whilst relevant published and unpublished literature provided the secondary data. The total number of questionnaires distributed was 286, out of which 260 were returned. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the data analysis. The statistical tools used include frequency table, multiple regression analysis, analysis of variance, correlation analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the ethical practices of organizations and their corporate performance. Moreso, the employees of the sampled organizations concurred that their organization is highly ethical. Based on these findings, the authors profer the need for clearly defined ethics within corporate organizations as this would guide the employees in their day to day conduct.
Islam places the highest emphasis on ethical values in all aspects of human life. In Islam, ethics governs all aspects of life. Ethical norms and moral codes discernible from the verses of the Qur'an and the Hadith are numerous, far reaching and comprehensive. Islamic business ethics is essential for SME industry. The challenge of Islamic business ethics is to make that inevitable ethical decision making explicit to make it better. Far from being anti-business, ethics actually provides essential support for maximizing long-term business value. In an Islamic system, ethics and business are not only compatible but also they are inseparable. Islam stresses the link between business and religion. It projects a perfect way of life. A human manner and behavior in small and medium enterprises cannot be effectively clarified without references to the Islamic ethics which can manage it. Thus, this paper will discuss the issues pertaining to the concept of business ethics in Islamic perspective toward Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This is because of their significant contribution in the Malaysian economics at large. Furthermore, this study also explains how SME could adapt the Islamic business ethics system in their day-to-day business activities.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the organizational culture within the business environment. The paper analyzes the ethical criteria of the entrepreneurs and the way they relate to the consumer, as well as the reinforcement of the moral values so that the final result of the economic activity is represented by sustainability and economic profit. We thought it would be important to point out that promoting an ethical firm can ensure the well-needed trust capital in a constantly changing society. In this context, corporate responsibility is a key element that ensures both the sustainability of the company as well as the sustainability of the relations with the business partners. In our view, a strong corporate culture must integrate ethics and responsibility in all its activities, since the focus is often laid on obtaining profit, not on the values that should lead the organization towards success over a long period of time. Since our society provides both positive and negative i...

is a complete and comprehensive religion that guides various professions, including how a Muslim lived his life as an entrepreneur. It is an obligation being a necessary condition that a Muslim must run his business based on the teachings of the Qur'an and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Truth, sincerity, and honesty are required in every business transaction and the common knowledge of that business. Islam provides not only guidelines for spiritual matters but also worldly matters, including the conduct of business with entrepreneurship and leadership characterized by Taqwa (faith), Tawakkul (dependence on Allah), efficient and proper use of resources, the use of permissible sources of production and the production of permissible products, trustworthiness in all dealings, concern for societal welfare, fairness and transparency in all business and other activities (Maryam, Ayesha & Ayesha, 2016). Islam sees entrepreneurship as part of economic and business opportunities beyond resources controlled (Mohd et al., n.d). Islam encouraged Muslims to engage in a lawful business and entrepreneurial activities, and every business and entrepreneurial activity consistent with the Islamic teachings was considered worship to Almighty Allah (God). All practices in accordance with the Islamic guidelines are counted as good deeds and will be rewarded by Allah (God). Thus, the Almighty Allah says in the Noble Qur'an: "And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer, those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged, (even as much as) the speck on a date seed" (An-Nisa'I, 4:124). Entrepreneurship is a catalyst and major contributor to the economic growth of a country. Islam encourages Muslims to involve in business activities since it is lawful and allowed in the Noble Qur'an. A business activity as a form of worship and the essential ethics of Islamic business transactions encourages a Muslim to become a successful entrepreneur in this world and in the hereafter. Thus, Muslim entrepreneurs are to conduct their business in accordance with the injections and guidelines of the Noble Qur'an and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). According to Islamic law, the concept of business ethics in Islam can make a conscious entrepreneur, and entrepreneurs who fear Allah (God) will always be steadfast in realizing entrepreneurship comprehensively. The study of entrepreneurship from Islamic perspective is lacking in contemporary Islamic communities (Amir & Yusuf, 2020). The studies on entrepreneurship conducted by previous researchers focused on economic aspects and the relationship between Islamic entrepreneurship and the western status of entrepreneurship and business ethics. This study, therefore, focused on Islamic entrepreneurship and the business ethics proscribed on Muslim entrepreneurs in the Noble Qur'an and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as well as what must be avoided by Muslim entrepreneurs.

This study has been carried out in order to measure ethical perceptions and determine if the managers and owners of SME's, thought to be pioneers of development, behave in accordance with the business ethics. Emergence of the concept of business ethics is quite old, but the concept still has the importance and timeliness within rapidly growing competitive environment. There is no doubt that ethical rules have become a necessity for SME's because these businesses, established for the purpose of profit, social benefits and maintenance of existence, have to act in accordance with the ethical rules. The mission of today's businesses should be not only producing goods and services but also fulfilling the social responsibilities. Businesses should respond to the needs and demands from various strata of society for the business ethics and social responsibilities. For the purpose of the study mentioned above, owners and the managers of the businesses working in Aksaray Organized Industrial Zone have been asked to determine their attitudes towards business ethics. The data have been obtained by using the technique of survey and analyzed through the statistical package for the social sciences software. As a result, the relationship between ethics and responsibility 285 has been observed and it has been found that type of the management has an effect on business ethics and social responsibility perceptions.
This paper has three main objectives. First, it attempts to develop testable, theoretical sounded hypotheses explaining ethics of entrepreneurs. Therefore it builds upon studies exploring potential drivers for ethical attitudes and behavior. Second, these hypotheses are tested with a large and representative cross national data set, i.e. data from the European Social Survey (ESS). Third, our study is two-level comparative: The sample includes entrepreneurs, managers of sme's and large incorporations, and a representative number of populations excluding the two groups mentioned before. By this, we can compare ethics in attitudes and behavior between those three groups of profession as well as we can test for differences in ethical attitudes and behavior across 20 European countries. Our results show that many theoretical hypotheses do not meet empirical proof and that entrepreneurs seem to be significantly less ethical than the other groups.

Scholars across the world are said to be in agreement that a successful entrepreneur should be an allround individual who can adapt to different environment be they cultural or geographical. For instances, one needs to first be knowledgeable about the products and their market. One must also have the discipline and be confidence, passionate, ambitious and liberal. It is also always important to build a strong professional network with people of the same as well as different market. For those inexperienced, possessing such knowledge and skills will definitely enable one to succeed should he or she ventures into the field. Nevertheless, it is important to note that an entrepreneurship is not solely for profitable cause or trading. It is also considered as a social community service which has the potential to build a civilisation and to sustain its future. When a work is done based on Islamic values, both mind and action must be in accordance and holistically based. In other words, a Muslim entrepreneur is not only defined as possessing the knowledge and skills mentioned, but also the integration with the teachings of Islam.

We examine the relationship between entrepreneurs" justification of unethical behavior and several individual and contextual factors. First, we extend the entrepreneurship and ethics literature by examining how entrepreneurs" differential access to resources affects their attitudes towards ethical issues. Second, we extend the literature by studying how the relationship between entrepreneurs" access to resources and their ethical attitudes is colored by the cultural and institutional context in which entrepreneurs are embedded. We test our hypotheses using individual-level data from 3,716 entrepreneurs and country-level data from 39 nations. Our results indicate that the influence of entrepreneurs" resources on their willingness to justify unethical behavior is contingent upon the type of resource in question. Furthermore, we found that a country"s uncertainty avoidance and level of government involvement moderate some of the relationships between entrepreneurs" access to resources and their ethical attitudes.

Ethics has increasingly been an important issue for long-term success of an entrepreneurial firm. From the entrepreneurship literature, ethical dilemmas in entrepreneurship have been explored in the early stage of firm development, but limited literature focus on how entrepreneurial firms manage through change in entrepreneurial context in their life cycle. In this paper, we applied a network theory of stakeholder management to investigate interactions between entrepreneurs and stakeholders. We identified ethical dilemmas in entrepreneurial firms at the established stage namely, fairness, responsibility toward stakeholder, honesty in negotiation, and marketing dilemmas. Four case studies of established firms in Thailand were used as an empirical study. The results show that ethical dilemmas found in the established stage are similar to the start-up stage, but complexity of ethical dilemmas increases when firms dealing with a large number of stakeholders at the established stage.

Entrepreneurs are a category of agents who are found in all human societies and their significance has been variously assessed. Although they are a universal phenomenon, their repertoire of activities, thoughts, motivations and emotions appear to be tradition-specific. This paper considers entrepreneurial practice in the liberal, libertarian, and communitarian traditions. The first objective is to determine if the primary ethical dimensions of entrepreneurial practice are structured by tradition. The second objective is to evaluate the status of entrepreneurial practice in the three traditions vis-à-vis common good. The paper uses the conceptual framework of tradition and its allied concepts of practice and narrative. It concludes that although the primary ethical dimensions of entrepreneurial practice arise from a tradition, novel entrepreneurial practices depart from tradition-set norms. It also concludes that entrepreneurial practices can and do violate the common good—more so in...

The proposed research is of great relevance at an organizational and business level as it relates ethical values to the dimensions of entrepreneurship and change/innovation, as well as each to each other. Indicators from a very recent literature review are being related and compared with the indicators and/or ethical values of the empirical instrument applied to a sample formed by 475 professionals who work in the highly industrial and productive region of Baja California in Mexico, which borders the southern state of California, U.S.A. Once the instrument is applied, the results obtained are (1) the need for ethics in companies; (2) the level of ethical values when professionals perform the role of entrepreneurship and change/innovation, based on 28 ethical values or variables; (3) the relationship between ethics and the two dimensions cited in the study; (4) the "why" or causes of such relationship, which it is categorized by creating their own taxonomy; (5) all the empirical results obtained are related to gender, and relevant correlations and conclusions are generated. The study is very useful for knowledge application and business performance at all levels and for all kinds of companies and organizations.
Entrepreneurship is increasingly studied as a fundamental and foundational economic phenomenon. It has, however, received less attention as a moral phenomenon. In this essay I articulate a conception of entrepreneurial ethics and argue that the virtues of entrepreneurship should be fundamental and foundational to business ethics.

The attitudes and values of a society play a significant role in entrepreneurship development as they influence and shape the environment within which entrepreneurial activity takes place. This paper focuses on the philosophical basis of entrepreneurship principles within an Islamic framework. This paper highlights, in particular, the role of Islamic-based moral and ethical values underpinning the entrepreneurial process from a point of view of the behavioral dimensions of entrepreneurship, enterprise management and marketing, capital and fund raising, and resource utilization.
