The Legal Philosophy course in the law curriculum of the Philippines is a two-unit course. Sometimes, it is even pointed out that the subject is not within the ambit of the Bar Examinations. Students of law in the Philippines then are, not quite surprisingly, of the view that the subject is just one of those courses thrown in to supplement the main "course". It is likewise a fact that many who teach the subject hardly have the least notion of and familiarity with philosophy and the philosophical method, with the result that the subject often degenerates into a boring sampling of odd ideas about law, with professor and student alike enslaved to some mediocre textbook on legal philosophy. Generally, philosophy is not taken seriously or, if it is, it is left to the musings of a select few who have the time-and the leisureas well as the apparently esoteric powers of philosophical insight. This attitude is unfortunate, and its unfortunate consequences make themselves felt in our law students and practicioners. 2 Philosophy of Law construction of statutes!'Those with such hopes are doomed to be disappointed. The connection between feel-good catchphrases and political slogans on the one hand, and philosophy as an academic discipline on the other, is very remote indeed. Philosophical theses are rarely goals or maxims (although they may be theses about goals and maxims). Moreover, it is very rare for trained philosophers to profess that they have such a grand thing as 'a philosophy'.

An Introduction to the Philosophy of Law By Daudi Mswahela, 2021
This paper is concetrates with Philosophy. Each of us has a philosophy, even though we may not be aware of it. We all have some ideas concerning physical objects, our fellow persons, the meaning of life, death, God, right and wrong, beauty and ugliness, and the like. Of course, these ideas are acquired in a variety of ways, and they may be vague and confused. We are continuously engaged, especially during the early years of our lives, in acquiring views and attitudes from our family, from friends, and from various other individuals and groups.
