The Israel-Palestinian Conundrum: Cutting the Gordian Knot

The paper discusses why either of the two purposed solutions to the Israel-Palestinian problem could not work because of the cross-purposes of four powerful stakeholders in the conflict. The paper suggests a solution which meets the basic goals of each of the four stakeholders while at the same time addresses their deep-seated fears. The solution envisions a phased development in the process of integrating the two societies, suggesting trust building mechanisms that include institutional innovations and cross-cultural community interactions.
