Studies on teaching argumentative writing are well-documented regarding the adaptation of critical thinking skills, writing strategies, writing behaviors and writing difficulty. However, research on teachers' perceptions and practices of best writing approaches for designing writing materials centering on argumentative essays is still meagre. This review paper aims to put forth an appropriate base and approach for designing writing materials of teaching argumentative essays for upperintermediate students at English Faculty, School of Foreign Languages, Thai Nguyen University. To this end, it reviews different approaches to teaching writing in EFL classrooms as well as previous studies on teaching argumentative essays, forming a firm base for material development in general and for teaching argumentative academic essays in particular. As a result, an integrative approach to writing instruction comprising writing-as-a-process, writing as a product, and writing following different genres is supposed to be conducive for teaching academic argumentative essays and shall be the cornerstone base for the material development.

Writing is very important for everyone to share their ideas, experiences and their thoughts into the written form. This present study tries to figure out and explore the university students in writing argumentative essay. Therefore, this present conducted a survey research to 21 students who produced 21 argumentative essay from English department in Universitas Lancang Kuning. The survey analyzed the Content, Organization, Vocabulary, Grammar, Mechanics In order to answer the research question. The result of the research showed that the students’ ability in argumentative essay was good regarding on the result of the test. This analysis of this present study found that the students’ ability in argumentative essay was categorized in very good level (96,55). This is means that these 21 students can go further on their academic journey regarding English when it needs an argumentative essay in written form.
Argumentation concerns the ability of students to defend the views they raise in their essays. This work is an investigation about the argumentative quality of students essay writing in some selected tertiary institutions in Kano State with view to identifying the form and nature of the problems militating against students' ability to maintain the content of the topic in writing skills. The selected schools constitute three hundred (300) students of 3 selected tertiary institutions in Kano state were selected using a stratified sample technique which one hundred (100) students were sampled based on the Morgan and Kryjcre sampling table. The study uses the methodology of selecting at random fifty (50) essays among those written by the population size of the research. The said scripts have been analyzed using the traditionalist paradigms and a new profile scale and profile methods. 2, for syntactic analysis. Students' good and bad usage of writing skills have been highlighted and discussed. The summary of the result was presented using simple percentage.

In this paper, we investigate the relationship between argumentation structures and (a) argument content, and (b) the holistic quality of an argumentative essay. Our results suggest that structure-based approaches hold promise for automated evaluation of argumentative writing.

Despite the early emergence of oral argumentation, written argumentation is slow to develop, insensitive to alternative perspectives, and generally of poor quality. These findings are unsettling because high quality argumentative writing is expected throughout the curriculum and needed in an increasingly competitive workplace that requires advanced communication skills. In this introduction, we provide background about the theoretical perspectives that inform the papers included in this special issue and highlight their contributions to the extant literature about argumentative writing.

Assessment of essay writing varies in product oriented, primary trait scoring system, and process oriented. This study examines how rubric in argumentative essay writing are developed. The findings emphasized that essay writing focused on the argumentative essay. Models of essay utilized for TOEFL test are considerably suggested for the topics. In addition, descriptors of the essay elaborated for standard assessment refer to characteristics of a good paragraph outlining: topic sentence and controlling ideas, developing sentences, and concluding sentence; and those for essay writing would emphasize on introductory paragraph whose thesis statement is included in the paragraph, developing paragraphs for details, and concluding paragraph.

The difficulties faced by EFL/ESL students when asked to produce a piece of writing are often due to an inadequate understanding of how texts are organized. To facilitate effective writing therefore, teachers have to familiarize students with the rhetorical structures which are an important part of the meanings of texts.

This article claims that learners of academic writing should consider the genre and how certain structures are constructed in that genre, specifically arguments. Arguments in the genre of academic writing in the humanities are explicated through their structure and by their location in the academic article. The structural components are identified in arguments, including some excerpted from published academic papers. The grammar and style of the components is also explained. Additionally, this article demonstrates how argument structures may vary depending on the different sections of the article where they are located. Lastly, this article provides a set of recommendations for writing arguments. The recommendations are intended as a guideline rather than a strict set of instructions.

The question of who to perform which music is a form of control of who and how best to give to the audience the best of the art form giving them (the audience) a heart thrilling and mind blowing treat. But the question of who has the right to perform which music (hip-hop for instance) is a sensitive issue that could ignite an unending debate of who should be considered the founders or who has the monopoly of a universally accepted and performed art, music.
