Islam has gained thousands of new followers in Europe. Moreover, there is a new class of Islamic activists of convert origin who have been increasingly visible in their efforts to mobilize support for Islamic agendas. It will be argued that the politicization of converts has been the result of widespread Islamophobia. Converts see themselves as the new vanguard of Islam in Europe that dares to confront the unbelievers and spread the word of the Quran.
