Turismo e Sociedade

Conhecer a trajetória e o estado atual da pesquisa em turismo no Brasil por meio do estudo bibliométrico e de análise de redes, permite estabelecer seu escopo teórico e ilustra a necessidade de outros estudos para a área. Assim, teve-se como objetivo identificar a formação e a trajetória de principais temas e tópicos de pesquisa no campo do turismo no Brasil no período de 1990-2018, que refletisse também acerca de lacunas e silêncios da pesquisa. Em um conjunto de artigos publicados em 16 periódicos brasileiros selecionados, foram construídos agrupamentos com palavras-chave, os quais representavam os principais temas e tópicos de pesquisa. Utilizou-se a medida de similaridade de acoplamento bibliográfico, adaptada para as palavras-chave. De 1990-2018, esses periódicos publicaram 3.887 artigos e em conjunto, apresentaram 108.595 referências, das quais 69.022 únicas, e foram citados 10.882 vezes por outros trabalhos. Com base em dois livros de correspondências de Clarice Lispector a amigos e parentes (Lispector, 2002; Sabino, 2011), este ensaio mostra, brevemente, a importância de espaços de publicação como revistas e jornais “comerciais” ou suplementos para a circulação da literatura brasileira, em meados do século XX. Tais espaços têm sido reduzidos, ao longo dos anos, embora outros espaços, mais especializados, tenham emergido, especialmente após o advento das tecnologias digitais de informação e comunicação, que parecem ter facilitado a produção editorial e a publicação.

Crossroads of Freedom

This book is at the crossroads of vari ous paths in recent historiography. 1 Walter Fraga followed the trails of experience and self-reflection blazed by slaves, freed people, and masters, to understand conflicts and alliances in the Bahian Recôncavo (the bay on which Salvador is located, and its immediate agricultural hinterland) from the end of the nineteenth to the early twentieth century. In so doing, he abolished the radical dissociation between "slavery" and "freedom" which had led many scholars to see the end of bondage in 1888 as either the terminus of one historical road (and research agenda) or the beginning of another; for it became clear that strategies, customs, and identities were worked out before emancipation shaped subsequent tensions between subalterns and their superiors. Indeed, the focus on actual lives, lived and pondered, as a way to discover broader social logics, brought Professor Fraga to the path of microhistory, an approach that seeks "God" (evidence of larger pro cesses of change and continuity) in the intricacy of "detail. " 2 This option, in turn, took him to people's names-that is, to the method of nominative rec ord linkage-as a strategy for tracking persons over time in order to trace individual and collective biographies. Crossroads of Freedom: Slaves and Freed People in Bahia, Brazil, 1870-1910 is the point of encounter of these diverse but converging paths. To say this, however, only weakly defines the book's qualities. The crossroads in this case are exceptionally charged with power-so much so that it is difficult to do justice to Fraga's method in a brief compass. How does one explain, for instance, the magic of chapter 2, in which the author employs detailed police documents and an exceptionally rich trial rec ord to reconstruct the assassination, by slaves, of a priest-administrator on a sugar plantation of the Carmelite Order in 1882? Fraga analyzes and contextualizes the case so skillfully that it illuminates slave owners' theater of dominion and

This thesis addresses, amongst other issues, the phenomenon of protest music with particular reference to Brazil within its pre-and post-dictatorship period. The timeframe being understood as that which finds its roots many decades prior to the 1964 so-called revolution a de facto military putsch and comes to flower in the democratic moment of the 1980s and since. The focus will be, eventually, directed to one of the most celebrated Brazilian rock phenomena, the band Legião Urbana, the impact of which still resonates across the artistic, cultural and political scene in Brazil and beyond. In order to establish the context in which such a claim can be viable, the thesis explores the ideological and historical background to the emergence, on a national, and international, stage of something beyond the artistic and cultural dependence seing before that period within Brazilian music.

Originated from some questions of British academics (mainly from the University of Kent) about the Brazilian political reality, it was sought, based on historical and social elements, to analyse the presidential election of 2018. This text, which was presented in November 2018 in a seminar in Canterbury, has, in addition to the introduction and the final considerations, three parts: a brief history of the Brazilian formation, an analysis of the capitalist crisis and the previous governments, and an approach of the political manipulations carried out through social networks. Finally, the fascist leitmotiv of the Bolsonaro´s campaign was also analysed, problematizing its nuances in a dependent and underdeveloped country. (Originado de alguns questionamentos de acadêmicos britânicos (principalmente da Universidade de Kent) sobre a realidade política brasileira, buscou-se, com base em elementos históricos e sociais, analisar as eleições presidenciais de 2018. Este texto, apresentado em novembro de 2018 em um seminário em Canterbury, além da introdução e das considerações finais, possui três partes: uma breve história da formação brasileira, uma análise da crise capitalista e dos governos anteriores e uma abordagem das manipulações políticas realizadas por meio de redes sociais. Por fim, também foi analisado o leitmotiv fascista da campanha de Bolsonaro, problematizando suas nuances em um país dependente e subdesenvolvido.)
