La Bancarisation En Milieu Estudiantin Camerounais

2019, La Bancarisation en milieu estudiantin camerounais

Abstract We used data survey collected from 100 master’s students from the University of Yaoundé 2 to analyze banking specificities in order to draw bank selection criteria and set barriers to banking. The results show that 32 % of students are banked nearby 4 banks and 9 microfinances. 50% of banked students prefer Afriland First Bank and Express Union for they offer low cost services, convenience, use of new technology and attachment to cultural diversity. With regard to barriers, economic variables are more significative than the non-economic one. Residual Saving is almost null due to the low level of income, what slows down access to banking services. However, the main barrier to banking within the University environment is likely to be the disinterested behavior of university’s authorities who give no place to banking services. A Such situation drives students to rationally dismiss banking services.
