The paper discusses the significance of television as a mass communication medium, emphasizing its role in entertainment, education, and information dissemination. It outlines both the advantages, such as providing relief from monotony, diverse entertainment options, and moral lessons, and the disadvantages, including negative effects on children's education, poor quality programming, and the potential for addiction. By categorizing various television genres and analyzing the impact of shows like "Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chasmah," the paper offers a comprehensive view of television's dual nature in contemporary society.
An attempt has been made to explore opinion of the students, research scholars, house maker and teaching faculty’s consumption patterns in regard to reality television, their rationale for watching reality shows, their perceptions of the situations portrayed on these shows, and its impact on the society based on the sample of 100 respondents in Gulbarga city of Karnataka state. The results discussed are on types of television programmes viewed, rating of most watched reality shows and its impact on society.

To understand the relation between credibility of the celebrity and its impact on viewers

Dramas generate a great effect on people that influence the segment of society and the whole. This study was designed to identify and estimate the female viewers who belong to Sargodha city watching habits and their perceptions about fashion portray by Hum TV and Urdu 1 dramas. The survey research procedure was adopted. In this study universe is the student (female) of the University of Sargodha, working women and housewives of Sargodha city. Stratified sampling procedure was adopted and for the aim of data collection 300 respondents were stratified on the basis of occupation (students, working women and housewives). After specifying the strata, purposive method of sampling was adopted to gather data. The analytical view of the viewers‟ watching habits shows that all the respondents significantly prefer to watch Hum TV than Urdu 1 television channels for watching dramas. Further, it was witnessed that the major portion of the respondents spends more time and pay more attention to the dramas of Hum TV than Urdu 1 dramas. Overall findings illustrate most of the viewers (95%) like Shalwar Qameez. Overall findings further present that 91% respondents do not like female characters with Mini Skirts in Hum TV and Urdu 1 dramas.
Being associated with language from birth means an affiliation with the culture of the place represented by that language. If people will be familiar with an additional or second language compacted with identical cultural & linguistic elements, then both languages share a common undisturbed attribute. Similarly the case is with Urdu and Kashmiri language which is looking a mixed language product. Keeping in mind the influence of Urdu media in Kashmir valley the study attempts to analyze the viewer preference for Indian Urdu-language electronic Television Channels among the inhabitants of Kashmir Valley (one of the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir State) where Urdu is an official language.
This study has been conducted to examine and indicate the consumption patterns of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) entertainment programs of rural viewers of Karor Lal Eason (Layyah). For this study 200 respondents are selected which equally consist 100 males and 100 females. The findings indicated that the viewers prefer to watch PTV entertainment programs and they also spend maximum time on watching entertainment programs of PTV. It is indicated that most of the respondents prefer to watch the PTV entertainment programs during prime time. Findings further indicated that female viewers change their working time to watch their favorite programs which includes dramas. Findings show that most of the respondents express their views that PTV entertainment programs are promoting new cultural trends in our rural society. The findings reveal that most of the respondents are agree the PTV entertainment programs are helpful for them to adopt new cultural trends, in the same way it is the perception of overall respondents that new cultural trends presented in the PTV entertainment programs should come to our traditional society.
This study examined television program effects towards young children. Television has become an increasingly accepted entertainment washing tool in children's brain. Previous research has indicated that television program can be destructive if it is not used wisely. It is really hard to avoid television as a kid. People at home usually get into TV – children and parents. In some families, television is sometimes turned on even without anyone watch it. It is common for parents and caregivers to use TV as a substitute babysitter. Besides, many parents buy videos aiming at making their kids smart. But how does watching TV really affect children? This study explained the advantages and disadvantages of watching TV for early years.
