The nation's economic development depends on agricultural research and development. Food demands by 2050 needs to be increased by 70%. We are aiming a farming system that could provide food security, increasing yield due to advanced technologies. Meeting this demand requires drastic changes to the manner in which agriculture is managed. In many of developing countries, agricultural productivity remains low due to multiple technical and socio-economic constraints. To partially alleviate this situation, agricultural research must be strengthened. As branches of basic sciences such as crop physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and biotechnology, bioinformatics, organic agriculture and plant breeding often been blamed and criticized for being non-effective in transforming research findings into a doable agricultural activity thereby increasing productivity. Research advances in plant science can change dwindling agriculture into a sustainable one. The world is aiming in producing abundant food to a farming system which is self-sustaining without polluting its environment. Producing food free from any residue means healthy living. Just like utilization of medicinal and aromatic plants play a great role in the society in which farmers are aware of the possible relationships between good health and healthy living. As such, interaction of people and plants is a multidisciplinary approach. We tried to study structural, physical, chemical and sensory characters of crude drugs and include their history, cultivation, collection, storage and use as well as the search for new drugs from natural sources or drug discovery. The quest for a perfect world to stay is an environment with agricultural biodiversity. A system in farming in which farmers are using friendly and environmentally safety techniques such as biofertilizers and biopesticides. Aside from these resources, there would be an interaction among genetic resources, the environment and the management systems and good agricultural practices used by farmers. In that sense, agricultural biodiversity is largely shaped and maintained by human activities and management practices, and a large number of people depend on agricultural biodiversity for sustainable livelihoods. This paradigm which could be a dimension of traditional and local knowledge of agricultural biodiversity, cultural factors and participatory processes, as well as tourism associated with agricultural landscapes. In the field of integrated pests and disease management, microorganism genetic resources for food and agriculture control ecosystem functions and services and therefore crop productivity and quality could be attained. Once food is produced, microorganisms are relied upon for its conservation and transformation. However, a constraint to realizing the potential of microorganism genetic resources for agriculture is the urgent need for fundamental advances to better characterize their taxonomy, function and interactions and the role of scientists would be needed much in this field. This conference is a good venue for all researchers around the world to share research findings that could uplift the lives of our end clientele, the farmer. We are facing a more tremendous activity by developing genetically modified organisms (GMO's) in order to meet the demand of the people. In attaining this dream, the scientists therefore have a great role to change our agriculture system into more sustainable farming systems. Everyone in this conference should have the sense of responsibility to be one of contributors in uplifting agriculture activity.
