The paper discusses a home automation system that integrates hardware, communication, and electronic interfaces to enhance domestic living. It highlights the limitations of current systems, such as their restricted operational range and lack of user-friendly interfaces. The design integrates components like sensors, controllers, and actuators, promoting convenience, security, and energy efficiency. Furthermore, it details the implementation of a cloud-connected IoT solution that allows users to monitor and control their home environment remotely.
This paper presents a design and prototype implementation of new home automation system that uses WiFi technology as a network infrastructure connecting its parts. The proposed system consists of two main components; the first part is the server (web server), which presents system core that manages, controls, and monitors users' home. Users and system administrator can locally (LAN) or remotely (internet) manage and control system code. Second part is hardware interface module, which provides appropriate interface to sensors and actuator of home automation system. Unlike most of available home automation system in the market the proposed system is scalable that one server can manage many hardware interface modules as long as it exists on WiFi network coverage.
Home Automation using GSM and Arduino, 2023
Home appliances can be remotely be controlled using home automation system and makes it easily to accessed and effectively controlled. With the use of telecommunication device like mobile phone, computer and electronic technology electrical appliance can be controlled from any part of the world. The main reasons for home automation system are to make peoples’ lives easy, greater amount of energy will be saved and driven more by technology. Among others, home automation systems available are either based on Bluetooth technology, ZigBee technology, Infrared Remote (IR) controller, Radio Frequency (RF) technology. Though these systems are good, unfortunately, they can work effectively from a distance of (100 meters maximum) automation within a particular locality. This pose a big challenge/risk of electrical disaster to people outside their vicinities that mistakenly left their appliances ON/OFF, as the case may be, and could also lead to energy to wastage for appliances left connected to the mains for a period longer than required. Hence the need for effective means of remotely controlling home appliances beyond one's vicinity. This brought about the prose project for home automation using Arduino and GSM module (SIM900). The system uses SMS to send commands in order to remotely turn ON and OFF electrical devices. The system development involves the implementation of different hardware modules such as power supply, GSM, microcontroller, relays, and loads which make up the system as well as programming the system controller.
With the increase in consumption of energy and population, there is a grave need to conserve energy in every way possible. The inability to access and control the appliances from remote locations is one of the major reasons for energy loss. A web or an android application is used by the users to give instructions to these systems. This system can make use of a host of communication methods such as Wi-Fi, GSM, Bluetooth, ZigBee. Different controlling devices and configurations can be found in existing systems. Such systems have been found already in many places for a wide variety of applications. This paper presents a survey of all such systems.
Home automation system is a system that controls by the smart device using a mobile application. It can control home appliances such as light, fans, air conditions, and smart security locks, etc. Bluetooth or wi-fi technology will be used to control things remotely. Many people were thinking about that technology is taking a really huge part of our lives. It does! we’re living in a modern generation where smart and intelligent systems are necessary to be there wherever we are to make our lives easier and much better, for example, we can do many things faster, better, and more accurate.
Now a day's every system is automated to face new challenges in present day situations. The automatic systems erase the need for manual operations and thus are reliable, flexible and more accurate. Hence they are used in every field, especially in electronics automated systems. Probably the most useful things to know are about GSM, It is the only type of cellular service available throughout the world. We make use of this GSM capability to develop a system that control and access various units of home appliances, which executes with respect to the signals sent by mobile. A User has an android based cell phone and by making use of a graphical user interface application he is fully able to know the status of his household equipments. The system is intelligent to monitor and control the water level in the tank and also informs the user about any gas leakage in his house.
Automation is the most frequently spelled term in the field of emerging technology. The hunger for automation brought many revolutions in the existing technologies. These had greater importance than any other technologies due to its user friendly nature. These can be used as a replacement for existing switches in home which produces sparks and also results in fire accidents in few situations. The intension behind the implementation of automation systems is to make the place intelligent so that energy is conserved and security is maintained. It also makes the life of people flexible, healthy and comfortable
One of the primary motivations for the design of smart homes in the 21 st century is to create a more relaxed domestic living environment suitable for a working class society laden with hectic office hours and also to reduce the amount of human dependency for the aging population. In the paper, we design, test and propose the implementation of a remote automated switching system for home electrically controlled appliances. The system implements a clocking algorithm there by automating the switching processes. A usability evaluation of the system reveals positive results over the traditional methods.
One of the topics which is gaining popularity is Home Automation System because of itsinnumerous advantages. Home automation refers to the monitoring and controlling of home appliances remotely. with the never-ending growth of the Internet and its applications, there is much potential and scope for remote access and control and monitoring of such network enabled appliances. This paper deals with discussion of different intelligent home automation systems and technologies from a various features standpoint. The effort targeted on the home automation concept of where the controlling and monitoring operations are expediting through smart devices. Wide-ranging home automation systems and technologies considered in review with central controller based (Arduino or Raspberry pi), cloud-based, Bluetooth-based, SMS based, ZigBee based, mobile-based, RF Module based, web based and the Internet with performance.
The main objective of this project is to develop a Home automation system using an Arduino board with Bluetooth being remotely controlled by any android OS smart phone. As technology is advancing so houses are also getting smarter. Modern houses are gradually shifting from conventional switches to centralized control system, Involving remote control switches. Presently, conventional wall switches located in different parts of the houses makes it difficult for the user to go near them to operate. Even more it becomes more difficult for the elderly or physically handicapped people to do so. Remote controlled home automation system provides a most modern solution with smart phone. In order to achieve this, Bluetooth module is interfaced to Arduino board at the receiver end while on the transmitter end, a GUI application on the cell phone sends ON/OFF, commands receiver where loads are connected. By touching the specified location on the GUI a prompt will appear which will seek a command. Thus switching ON/OFF the connected loads.

Witnessed with the increase in energy consumption and population, there is great concern to conserve energy in every possible way. Lack of access to and management of electrical equipment from remote areas is one of the main causes of power loss. Therefore, the concept of smart house is gaining attention a few years ago. The current ‘system’ is also ready to solve one or two of those problems. However, a smart home automation ‘system’ is not only secure, but, nevertheless, even the most intelligent understanding process and analytical talents have. This method will create the use of ‘WiFi’, ‘GSM’, ‘Bluetooth’, ‘ZigBee’ completely different governing devices are available in existing ‘system’s. The Internet or associate degree application automaton is used by users to provide directions to those ‘system’. These applications are already available in a few places for a large variety of applications. Also, an automatic home reduces excess energy loss and helps save energy. This paper pr...
