Carrying out this study, were used sample techniques with simple random selection of data collection conducted by the surveying technique. Academic stress, fear and depression among college students are a cause of stress. Every nation invests lot of money on education. However, research survey on college students reports at any given time there will be 10 to 20 % of student population miserable from psychological problems (Stress, Anxiety & Depression). This paper briefly describes the research carried out in the last 3 decades especially regarding stress, anxiety & depression. It focuses stress among college students, nature of psychiatric disease emotional problems and adjustment, psychological problems of college students. Point out how counselling will help students with emotional problems and also imply preventive measures to be taken by colleges such as setting up student counselling centres, create realization among college students in look for help with counselling centres. It is also suggested to have mentor mentee organise compulsorily on all colleges. A student health committee should be set up in each college with mental health professionals as its members. There should be regular seminar & workshop for teachers & college students on various concern of psychological problems and its coping mechanisms.
Stress can have an impact on a student's academic performance which can be both positive and negative depending on its severity. Minimal level of stress can lead to positive outcomes such as motivation and improved task performance while severe stress can result in anxiety, depression, social dysfunction and even suicidal intention. Gender role and academic disciplines are two of many possible stressors for students. Level of academic stress of 100 students (M 19.9 years SD 1.2) studying BBS and BASW in three different private colleges of Kathmandu was measured using Scale for Assessing Academic Stress. Participants scored 14.18 in average (SD=4.01). There was no significant difference in level of academic stress between students from BBS and students from BASW t(98)= 1.43, p = 0.156 , and there was no significant difference in level of academic stress between male students and female students t(98) = 1.40, p= 0.166. In the present study, an honest attempt is made to study the academic stress, various factors of academic stress and coping strategies among the college going students in Shillong, Meghalaya. For the purpose of study, a representative sample of 199 students of different colleges in Shillong was taken. The sample consisted of 71 male students and 128 female students. To determine the academic stress level of the students, the Academic Stress Scale by Rajendran and Kaliappan (1990) was administered to college going students. The Brief-COPE Scale was administered to understand the coping strategies used by the college youths of Shillong to cope with academic stress. The survey results when integrated and interpreted considering objectives for the study showed that there is moderate level (69.3%) stress among the college going students in Shillong. An analysis of the results by the age group and academic stress of college students is found to be the age group of 21-23 which is 50.7%. In another analysis, it was found that the students pursuing BA have moderate level of stress (69.3%). Based on the findings of this study, educational institutions should take proactive steps to address the prevalent of academic stress among students.

The transition from high school level to college level is naturally stressful for students. Stress is an imperative part of our life. Stress is an insistent effect caused by various fixed and difficult routine tasks in every part of our lives. Stress has a positive and negative impact. College students are among the most vulnerable segments of the population. College is a stressful time because many students have to adapt to a new academic and social environment. College based factors greatly affect college students. Stress has become a part of students 'academic lives, Because of various internal and external expectations Is placed on their shoulders. Few studies have been conducted at a global level to assess the prevalence of stress among students. Stress among college students is an ignored public health problem in India. Stress is a normal factor for all college students. Stress is usually arises from various academic, social, environmental, physical and psychological aspects also. But in this study was only focus on academic stress. The major academic factors that will contribute to more stress among college students greatly focus in this study. Furthermore, the researcher examines whether academic stress and their nature of the course of study are interrelated. In order to obtain reliable data, a total of 150 students of Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy Scholars of the College of Education were randomly and conveniently selected to fill out a self-developed questionnaire. Data were analyzed with the help of descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The Software Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) facilitated the data computation process. the test shows that there is significant difference between causes of academic stress and the consequences of stress. The researcher suggested that the stress and stressors among the college students can be tackled by following the system of analyzing the individual behavior and to act upon and the students are advised to be ready to recognize their stress and take necessary steps to reduce the stress.

College students experience high levels of examination stress due to various reasons such as lack of examination preparation, incompletion of syllabus, students' study style, memory capacity and lack of necessary information. Stress is the response of pressure. Sometimes the pressure about the exams may cause the stress. Most of the college students are under stressed. College students are having a stress from various segments that from their own family, friends, relatives and neighbors and from their colleagues, from professors, from society and also from their examination. Majority of the students are experiencing various levels of examination stress for their number of different reasons. When stress is felt negatively or becomes extreme, it leads to anxiety before, during and after exams and in due course affects their academic activities as well as achievement. These exam stresses are cause students to feel depressed and affects their sleep, eating, mood, and behaviors. In order to obtain reliable data, a total of 460 samples from the College of Education were collected from a structural Questionnaire (link) was sent to students via Whatsapp and email using the "Google-Form". The data were analyzed with the help of descriptive and hypothetical statistical techniques. The Software Package for Social Sciences facilitated the data calculation process. This study shows that there is significant linear relationship between an Examination Stresses and Courses of Study or not. The researcher has applied the statistical tools like percentage analysis, reliability test, factor analysis and regression analysis to analyse the results. The researchers' conclude their study that there is no significant linear relationship between an Examination Stresses and students' Courses of Study. The examination stress are depends on the students mindset, professors teaching style and the correction method and mark or grade system. In case the students are preparing well in exam, they have lesser stress compare with others.
Stress can exist when working at a fast place, doing difficult problems, or listening to someone shout at you. It can be brought about through conflicts, making decisions, or otherwise straining abilities, or it can exist because of numerous social demands on time. We have noted that emotional states tend not to be long lasting, whether they are unpleasant emotions like fear, or pleasant ones, such as joy. Yet on occasion such states may persist for long periods of time, or they may reach excessively high levels. When this happens, the result typically is labeled \"stress\", and its manifestated in psychological as well as physiological terms. Stress and its manifestations, such as anxiety, depression, and burnout, have always were as a common problem among people in different professions and occupations. In the last few decades, alarm has already been provoked by the proliferation of books, research reports, popular articles and the growing number of organized workshops, aiming to teach people how to cope with this phenomenon. The purpose of the study is to find out the level of academic stress among higher secondary students. The present study consists of 250 XI standard students studying in higher secondary schools situated in Namakkal District of Tamil Nadu, India. The sample was selected by using simple random sampling technique. The present study reveals that the higher secondary students are having moderate level of academic stress and irrespective of sub samples of the higher secondary students are having moderate level of academic stress. The male student\'s academic stress is higher than female students. The urban student\'s academic stress is higher than rural student. The Government school student\'s academic stress is less than private school student. The science subject student\'s academic stress is higher than arts student. The students whose parent\'s education as literate level academic stress is higher than their counter part.

Descriptive survey research design was employed for the study while self-structured modified questionnaire was used to elicit information from the respondents. The simple random sampling techniques were used to select the sample from the target population. A total of nine hundred and four (904) respondents participated in the study forming the sample size for the study. The statistical tools used for the study includes percent counts, frequency and chi-square and Cramer V. The statistical inferences were drawn from the items of the questionnaire using chi-square and Cramer V 0.05 level of significance. The result of the findings showed that most of the students of the university have healthy mentality towards academic and financial stressors and are able to cope with the respective challenges. It is therefore recommended that university management should be concerned with students’ capacity to cope with academic and financial stress in order to live a stress free life.

Stress is normal and it can help a student keep track of his tasks but it only becomes a deterrent to good life when it gets in the way of living a healthy lifestyle. Youngsters today are experiencing high levels of stress. The sources of stress are diverse for youngsters in different age levels. Among 13-17 year old, academics is by far most commonly mentioned source. Among 18-24 old, it is jobs and financial matters. Academic and career related pressures are ruining the life of young people. An average teenager today wants excel in school, perform well in sports, keep up with the latest trends and choose the right higher education stream. Youngsters in their 20's want a well paid job, they want saving for buying assets and also want to choose the right life partner. Added to this is the pressure to try and meet the expectations of the parents. This study attempted to find the level of stress among the post and under graduate students , which group of student face more stress. It was found thatunder graduate students have higher level of stress as compared to post graduate students.
This research aims to investigate university students' levels of dealing with stress, from different types of variables. The study was carried out on a total of 500 individuals, including 346 female and 154 male students studying at Atatürk University Kazim Karabekir Faculty of Education in 2016/2017 academic year. In this work, Oral, Çok ve Kutlu (2005) "The Level of dealing with Stress in Educational System" scale was for the students. SPSS 21 package program was used in the analysis of the data. For the analysis of the data, and in determining the demographics, the frequency distribution was used. T test was applied to examine the relationship between two independent variables and stress coping sub-dimensions and Anova Warians analysis tests were used to examine the relationship between two and over variables and stress subscale sub-dimensions. The difference between the variables has been interpreted on the basis of p0.05 significance level. According to the findings, it was found that, there is a significant difference between individuals' stress coping sub-dimensions and gender, book reading habits and spare time activity. There was no significant difference between age, family structure and monthly income variables.It was found out that the scores of female students were higher than the average scores of male students with regard to studying from students' gender and stress coping levels subscales, preparing for an exam and affective, behavioral sub-dimensions. The students who stated that they had the habit of reading books, were found to have high scores in studying, preparing for an exam and the affective behavioral sub-dimensions. It was deduced that the students who spent their leisure time with their family got higher scores from students who spent their spare times with their friends or alone, with regard to studying, preparing for an exam and the affective behavioral sub-dimensions.In order to make students, more effective and successful in educational system, the factors that affect the stress levels should be determined and similar studies are necessary in order to have positive effects for students, which, constitutes the part of the proposal of our study.
Stress is an irritating condition where excess of work and overload which reduces the concentration and the normal working condition of any person. Generally, stress is defined as a person's psychological and physiological response to the perception of a demand or challenge. Students are most frequently affected by stress due to their academic life. Students face various challenges and a whole lot of pressure in today's competitive environment. Students need to be trained in handling stress. This study mainly focuses on the stress management of students. This will help in understanding the symptoms, sources and effects of stress among the student community.

BACKGROUND: Stress is a part of everyone's life. It is normal for everybody to experience stress to some extent, but too much stress may be harmful. Attending college is a rewarding experience but it also can be a time of considerable anxiety and stress for students. Students are subjected to different kinds of experiences which make them vulnerable to undergo a lot of stress. Of late, there is a growing appreciation of stress in medical professionals including medical students, who have very busy and demanding schedule. Sources of stress are classified into two main groups-academic pressures and non-academic sources including financial problems. There are different coping strategies used by students to manage stress. It is important to understand these strategies and encourage the healthy strategies and discourage the others which are potentially harmful. AIM: to determine the sources of stress in undergraduate medical students and the coping strategies used by these students in managing their stress. SETTINGS AND DESIGN: An institutional cross sectional study among undergraduate students of a medical college in coastal Andhra Pradesh. MATERIAL AND METHODS: After the study protocol was given clearance by the Institution Ethics Committee, consent was taken from the undergraduate medical students of Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation, Amalapuram, and a predesigned and pretested questionnaire was given which captured information related to basic demographic details followed by questions related to stress and its sources and also the coping strategies used by these students to manage stress. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: The data collected was entered into Microsoft Excel and analyzed using Epi Info 6 software. Chi Square test was done wherever applicable. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Total 431 out of 550 medical students (78.4 percent) participated in the study. There were 261 females and 170 males. 'Academic work load', 'long hours of academic work', 'performance in examinations', 'competition for marks' and 'frequency of examinations' were the leading academic sources of stress. 'Quality of food', 'lack of entertainment in the institution', 'worry about future', 'being away from home' and 'lack of time for recreation' were the leading non-academic sources of stress in the students. 'Emotional support from family/friends', 'listening to music/dancing', 'going to place of worship', 'playing sports/games/physical exercises', and 'watching a movie' were reported as the leading coping strategies used by the study subjects.
Stress is a normal phenomenon in everyone's life. It is a state of an individual under exhausting circumstances in different areas of life, i.e. family, school, health, business organization etc. Students specially of senior secondary classes have to undergo the experiences of stress due to the pressure of studies, expectations of parents, teachers, and self, peer pressure, career demands resulting a lot of burden on delicate minds. Therefore it is necessary to understand the causes of academic stress among students; to point out their resources to combat it and thereby enhance their well-being. Numerous variables have been identified to be positively or negatively associated with academic stress of students by empirical researches. Present paper is an attempt to review the studies from 1991 to 2014 related to psychosocial factors of academic stress among students specially the adolescents. From positive psychological perspective, self-efficacy, hope and perceived parenting were considered most relevant variables among others to influence academic stress of students. The review process included research journals, articles, books, dissertations, abstracts, encyclopedia, theses and internet surfing.

Stress among higher education students has been an area of interest for both researchers and teachers for many years because it affects not only their academics but also their physiological and psychological health. The present study is an attempt to study stress among students of higher education. The main objective of the present study was to find the gender differences in pressure, physical stress, anxiety, frustration and total stress score among college students. The present study was completed through descriptive crosssectional design. Multi stage randomized sampling technique was used to collect a sample of 1000 students (500 males and 500 females). Stress scale developed by Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi and Dr. Shruti Narayan were used to collect the data. The results of the study reported no significant differences in pressure, anxiety and frustration among male and female college students while as significant differences were found in physical stress and total stress score among male and female college students.

The data is collected from 243 students studying in different departments of the Pondicherry University. Statistical tools of Mean, ANOVA, Chi-square, Correspondence Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Correlation and Multiple Regressions were used to analyse the data. It has been found that student of Pondicherry University are subject to low level of Depression, Anxiety and Stress. Using cluster analysis, it has been found that Non-Tamilian students correspond to the low stressed group, while the Tamilian Non-hostler students correspond to the moderately stressed group and the Tamilian Hostler students correspond to the highly stressed group. It is further noted that anxiety largely contributes to the stress of University students. This study does not cover the aspect of financial pressure as a source of stress, which is also one of the major stressor to students. Tamilian Hostler students are encountering high level of Depression, Anxiety and Stress. Hence, special attention should be paid to them to address their problems and grievance, so that they may be helped to overcome their problems. The study reveals that anxiety highly contributes to stress among students. Hence, teaching faculty must concentrate on addressing anxiety of students, which will automatically reduce stress among the students.
Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension. It plays an important role in wellbeing of human beings. Today we face stress in each and every part of our lives, right from our student life at school and college till our old age. The college student from biotechnology and other field related to biology come to the S. S. Hospital and Research Institute, Patna for partially fulfillment of their training program. In this case study, the stress of trainees who come from different universities and educational institutes of Bihar to S.S. Hospital and Research Institute, Patna was measured. The data regarding the quality of work of student submitted at different time periods were analyzed and the case were assessed. It was found that both B.Sc. 2nd and B. Sc. Final year students suffered from stress. The work was followed by some questions which helped to analyze the main reason for the stress to complete the training program. It was observed that the students suffered from different types of stress that was educational, personal, financial, future settlements and health issue..

College students are exposed to many problems from family, financial, peers, and school environment. As he proceeded, continued and finally ended his courses enrolled in college, various stressors hamper the successful attainment of his primary and secondary goals. There are common stressors that affect college students: intrapersonal, interpersonal, academic and environmental stressors. The focus of this study is on the pressures affecting the college student in dealing with his family, friends and signifi-cant persons. His major concept of stress and stressors in the college envi-ronment and which of the sources of stress caused him to be more prone most. A questionnaire on Student-Life Stress Inventory was adopted to gather the needed data among 150 college students. Frequency count, percent, rank, mean and Pearson-r correlation were used. Results show that the interpersonal stressors of students ranked the highest while the environmental stressors the lowest. Specific results under the interpersonal stressors include working to people they do not know, trouble with parents, and relationship with opposite sex. These results support the idea in creating a stress management program for higher education institution to consider implementation.
This thesis examines the impact of stress on students' academic performance and stress management among students of Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. The main objectives were to ascertain or identify the extent to which stress affects students' academic success, health and general lifestyle, as well as to inquire and bring to light measures to counteract the effects of existing stress in students.
Herein, a survey was conducted to study the causes of stress like curriculum, assessment, personal factors, economic conditions etc. among teenage students. A questionnaire survey method was used to collect the data. Total 100 questionnaires were distributed among science students and 80 valid responses were obtained. Research findings suggested that 31% science students have chosen their subject stream just because their parents, relatives, and friends has suggested. 11% students were forced to take science stream against their willingness. 35% students wanted to change their stream during early stages of 11 th standard. Four major and highlighted causes of stress among students were competition, no free time, academic stress and pressure from family to get good grades. Finally, remedial measures were suggested for the students which can help them to fight against stress and to concentrate on their studies.
The aim of this study was to investigate the stress levels and coping strategies of professional students belonging to Physical Education and Engineering professions. A sample of 60 subjects was randomly selected from the Physical Education and Engineering Institute, India. Each profession group had 30 subjects (15 boys and 15 girls) with age range of 21±3 years. Stress scores due to: 1) frustration and inhibition, 2) overload and 3) compulsive, time-urgent and aggressive behavior were measured for the selected subjects using the questionnaire developed by Daniel et al. (1979). The second questionnaire developed by George and Everly and used by Heyward (1991) was also administered to the students to measure their coping strategy. Data were analyzed using SPSS 17 version. Two way analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that stress due to all the stimuli was significantly higher among girls in comparison to boys of their profession. Coping strategy was higher in boys than girls of their respective profession, but Physical Education girls had higher coping strategy than boys and girls of Engineering. Therefore, it can be concluded that Physical Education students had better coping strategy than engineering students.
