Abstract

The issue of social innovation has a long history date back to Max Weber, Talcott Parsons and Schumpeter's researches. The social innovation has recently gained more attention among academician from economy to management and development to policy. For that reasons the objective of this paper is to determine concept and context of social innovation, to reveal the relationship between social innovation and social change, to propose a conceptual model of social innovation based on literature review. In conclusion a social innovation definition is proposed. Social innovation is a process that triggered by social, environmental and economic problems faced by humanity, and implemented by various actors, and the only purpose of it to solve problems more effectively and efficiently than existing ones, and results in the desired systematic social change.
