This article presents a synthesis of infant and child health and disease from seven different sites in Thailand, c. 2,000 BCE-500 CE, to assess whether there is any evidence for a change in health with agricultural intensification. An analysis of mortality, growth disruption, and dental health suggests overall health did not deteriorate over time. However, bone pathology suggests an increase in infectious disease over time. A combination of broad-spectrum subsistence economies, localised environments and the development of major environmental changes occurring during the end of the prehistoric period in the Iron Age likely underpin the temporal health patterns seen in this region.

Children's thoughts and feelings during hospitalization is the beginning point of their behavior both positive and negative. There are the negative behaviors appear during hospitalization such as aggressive, fear, and hyperactivity. The behaviors mentioned will occur when children do not receive responsibility as they think and feel. Therefore, listening to children's thoughts and feelings via their report through projective technique is very important. Children report that they are bored, lonely, and sadness during hospitalization; meanwhile, they would like to tell their requirement to nurse in order to cope with their thoughts and feelings. Children's requirements during hospitalization are the requirement of protection and the requirement of companions. From this empirical data, nurse can use data to develop nursing for children. For this reason, this paper aim to present the nursing management for children during hospitalization which appropriate and harmonize with children's requirement and development to decrease their negative thoughts and feelings to the hospitalization and decrease their negative reactions and behaviors which will occur to children. This nursing management will bring to the cooperation and decrease children's anti-behavior; furthermore, it will encourage the treatment efficiency for other cases.

Family is the important environment influencing a child health and development. The purpose of this correlational research was to examine the relationship between selected factors and knowledge about child development and child-abuse risk in families with young children. The sample consisted of 408 parents with children between 1-6 years of age living in industrial, agricultural, fishery, and tourist areas in Chonburi Province. The sample was obtained with the cooperation of the local administrative organization in each sub-district with the consent of each family. The measurement instruments used in this study were six questionnaires consisting of the followings: PSI; family communication; child-abuse risk; CES-D; family relations; and knowledge about child development. Descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson correlation, were performed for data analysis. The results showed that knowledge about child development had a significantly positive relationship with parent' s education, family income, family relationship, and family communication (r =.32, .22, .15, and .36 respectively, p<.05), but had significantly negative relationship with parents age, parenting stress, and parent depression (r =-.17,-.23, and-.27 respectively, p<.01). Child abuse risk had a significantly positive relationship with parenting stress and parent depression (r = .41 and .67 respectively, p<.05), but had a significantly negative relationship with parent' s education, family income, family relationship, family communication, and knowledge about child development (r =-.16,-.12,-.42,-.40 and-.27 respectively, p<.05). Increasing knowledge about child development might reduce child-abuse risk in families. Therefore, promoting child development, it is essential for nurses to understand the context of the family, particularly in the areas of parent' s education, parent stress and depression, family communication, knowledge about child development, and child-abuse risk.

Objectives. We examined whether health literacy was associated with self-rated oral health status and whether the relationship was mediated by patient–dentist communication and dental care patterns. Methods. We tested a path model with data collected from 2 waves of telephone surveys (baseline, 2009–2010; follow-up, 2011) of individuals residing in 36 rural census tracts in northern Florida (final sample size n = 1799). Results. Higher levels of health literacy were associated with better self-rated oral health status (B = 0.091; P < .001). In addition, higher levels of health literacy were associated with better patient–dentist communication, which in turn corresponded with patterns of regular dental care and better self-rated oral health (B = 0.003; P = .01). Conclusions. Our study showed that, beyond the often-reported effects of gender, race, education, financial status, and access to dental care, it is also important to consider the influence of health literacy and quality o...

The Purpose of participatory action research were to describe experience and learning results of master student nurses by learning through reflective practice in advanced pediatric nursing practicum. Data were collected through interviews, focus groups, observations and a review of nursing care plan. The participants were 10 graduated nursing students. Thematic qualitative analysis was used for the analysis and interpretation of the data. The reflective practice of graduate nursing students were found in 3 steps of learning experience as follows: 1) "discovering reality" with processes of exploring the data, evaluating nursing situation, and perceiving the real nursing problem, 2) "using nursing theory" with processes of defining strategies to solve nursing problem and evaluating problem-solving action and, 3) "holding on" with the process of getting and staying motivated to learning by reflective thinking. The learning results themes emerged from the data was 379 วารสารพยาบาลทหารบก Journal of The Royal Thai Army Nurses Learning by Reflective Practice in Advanced Pediatric Nursing Practicum: Experience and Learning Results of Graduate Nursing Students ปี ที ่ 15 ฉบั บที ่ 2 (พ.ค.-ส.ค.) 2557 Volume 15 No.2 (May-Aug) 2014 "Seeing change" which including: can identifying the nursing outcomes, making a commitment to practice by using nursing theory, and feeling success with nursing. The finding represented that the reflective practice is the key for teaching in practicum course because graduate nursing students can lead themselves to study by using nursing knowledge together with reflective thinking. In additional, the learning results from reflective practices can use as evaluation topic for the practicum course.

Physicians are either in the royal service or private section. They are taught to have strong self-confidence, depending on their own thoughts, making decision and performing their sole duties, especially when they are on duty. During their non-official time, the patients' problems may be simple, but most of them are severe and complicated, and still exist even when they are off duty. It is difficult for the off duty doctor to leave the suffering patient. They must keep performing their services. It looks like they are working overtime. By surrendering to such an extraordinary service, they will be admired as a "devotee". It makes for a good feeling for the doctors. However, by the same token, if any mistake happens, the doctor will be accused, sued, and sentenced to jail by a court as a criminal person and against Act Number 41 of the National Health Plan 30 Baht bill. Present day doctors are fully aware of their idealistic ethical status through the transitional zone of the rapid change of the cultural milieu of Thai society. The world is round with some angulations and valleys to form shelter, protecting from heat, cold, flood, and tsunami, etc. The differentiated lines of right and wrong of the duties of doctors are closed to each other. And the doctor's duties seem to be a thunderstorm catcher. The physician's professionalism is abuse politically by the society and its rulers. It is hard to believe that the doctors cannot ask for help, and at the same time, these is some one among them tries to irritate them the most. These are other factors that are part of the idealistic, ethical doctor of the appropriate present situation. Fifteen medical schools in Thailand understand well the mentioned appropriation. It does not stand for "too much" or "lack of". The medical graduates should learn its meaning best to insure their professional life and family. It is the talk of the town that etiquette is defined as "they must do good things and avoid all bad things". The sentence is short and understandable; but with huge meaning, as big as the sky and, as deep as the sea. Doctors' etiquette has a high standard. This is another social request for the appropriate physician's professionalism. There are many changes in Thai trans cultural. Thais must live and have good relations with others. Thai wealthy must be strong in order to obtain necessary import living needs and pay for their study in research and development. Physicians are included in this circle. The physicians have to provide services to their patients who will ask for everything that is life saving, advertised in all media. Ethics, mores, culture are our basics for marketing, but they must be clean, and accountable, as they are standard requirements for good friends. The 6 basic principles of ethics: human rights, justice, truth telling, confidentiality, good performance, deleting bad events; they are considered to be an insurance for a physician's life. Good thoughts toward any one, gender-sex-religious-economic status, and age discrimination, are strictly eliminated. How can we find such an appropriate physician?

engue virus is transmitted to humans via the mosquito vector, Aedes aegypti. There are four antigenically distinct, but closely related, serotypes of the virus (DEN-1,-2,-3, and-4), which cause similar clinical courses and outcomes. The disease can be classified into dengue fever (DF), dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), and dengue shock syndrome (DSS), according to the symptoms and severity of disease. Progression to the severe degree (DHF/ DSS), characterized by bleeding and shock, and leading to high morbidity and mortality rates, can occur. Many factors contribute to a consideration of bleeding in dengue infection, including the criteria for the grade of bleeding. Marked thrombocytopenia (platelet counts < 50 x 109/L or less) indicates clinical severity, and is associated with an increased incidence of spontaneous bleeding. Treatment with adequate fluid replacement is essential. The effective control of bleeding is important in the treatment of patients with DHF/DSS. Patients with bleeding receive a transfusion of platelet component to treat these complications. Thus, the decision to transfuse platelets is based on an overall assessment by the physician, clinical bleeding, and the availability of platelet component. There is limited evidence to support the proposition that prophylactic platelet transfusion improves clinical outcomes among adult dengue patients. In addition, data on clinical findings, laboratory presentations, and the management of those affected, are limited. Therefore, the most important aspect of managing patients with dengue is a balance of optimal fluid replacement therapy and close observation to detect complications, such as bleeding.
