Leadership roles in an organization
As a function endowed with power, “leadership” is generally considered of particular importance for organizational development. In both business management and sociological theory, reasons are given for the existence of hierarchical power structures within organiza-tions . Any description of the leadership function, however, is too short if it focuses only on the aspect of power (which will be discussed in more detail further down the line). Thus, both the constitutive elements and the developmental process of organizations should be examined and reviewed, including where the need for a specialized leadership function aris-es, when and where power structures appear necessary and legitimate, and how the function and role are best described.

Leadership is part of the activity in organizations and has its own place and significance for their functioning. It is well-known that leadership is a dynamic phenomenon and a leader’s authority may vary depending on the circumstances. Leaders can be replaced, they can compete, be allocated, be supported, etc. But while they are leaders, they are responsible for organizing the group’s activity. There are both similarities and differences between leadership, management and authority. The aim of this paper is to present some of the functions and characteristics of the leader, which are of paramount significance for the activity in organizations; at the same time, the paper aims at drawing the reader’s attention to some specific features of management and authority. Whether in the arena of politics or the context of organizational management, we see certain individuals who were admired and followed by many. Such influential personalities are said to have good leadership skills. In the field of politics, we know leaders like Nelson Mandela, George Washington, and Mikhail Gorbachev who had an immense influence over the people and were able to bring about enormous changes in society. Moreover, in the corporate world, we know highly admired leaders like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Jack Ma, who transformed their organizations into immensely successful business entities. Other than planning, organizing, and controlling, leading is considered as one of the four foundation pillars of management. Due to its charismatic nature, this pillar of management has not only fascinated organizational managers at all levels but also political personalities who wanted to rule some piece of land as a king, prime minister, or president. This article discusses the meaning and purpose of the leadership phenomenon.
The choice of style of leadership must attention about what the leader thinks about his power and authority on human nature. The leader assumes that people can basically self-address, where appropriate together to produce motivation. Leadership is a question of how to be... . We spent a good part of our lives learning how to do things, but in the end is the individual quality and character that define the great leaders. As for leaders, thrive through the efforts of people who lead. The basic task of a leader is to train a workforce highly productive and motivated. The leader has to overcome challenges to achieve a cohesive community that is well structured within and outside your organization which would invest in relationships and convey a vision to establish a communication between the workforce and an assorted market. The leader is one who worries about what is around you, near or far, inside or outside the organization, and that the true leader understands that the worker and not compromise the performance of the organization. The leader has to be circular in relations in the organization, as people want to join the cause because of the effects brought by its attitudes. The leader should propose a common framework of exit and enter a higher sphere where people realize they are being observed and valued by their ideas. Leadership is an interpersonal influence exercised in a situation and directed through the process of communication for the achievement of specific objectives.
The purpose of this paper is to understand the major roles of leadership required to be performed in an organization. These roles are now part and parcel of each innovative setup working as business entity. Acquaintance with these roles is also mandatory for every manger as well as the administration in the organization otherwise attrition shall increase resulting move of people towards better organized setup. This set of roles can be learnt through learning some competencies, skills or improving some behaviors. While formulating the great recommendations in favours of these twelve roles, viewpoints of seventy three in number great management Gurus were thoroughly studied through many books, journals papers and internet. In future only such lucky organization shall earn business success and true excellence where these very significant roles are religiously implemented and followed.
