Pour une analyse narrative des images sociales

Abstract

Facing the dispersion of the many approaches of the visual, it seems useful to specify a few benchmarks for the analysis of social images, products of cultural industries with a narrative function. Given the characteristics of fixed images, which articulate in elliptic form an existing narrative to a formal proposition, the production of meaning is an open interpretation process. In order to restore the objectivity of the analysis, the phenomena of industrial remediation or the multiplication of the traces of reception on social media can be exploited to shift the observation from a hermeneutic of the images to a narratology of their readings. As a vector of information, a resource of the new narrative of the real, visual forms rely on an aesthetic of transparency, which uses social codes rather than specific knowledge of the image.
