— Logistics industry in Malaysia is rather treated as strategic industry for economic growth and one of the key industries for Third Industrial Master Plan (IMP3) in Malaysia. It is worthwhile to study the environmental sustainable logistics practices of logistics service providers and its effect on their logistics performance, particularly in road freight transportation industry. The study proposed a conceptual framework for sustainable environmental logistics practices on logistics performance, which may be customized for other industries as well.

The paper aims to validate scale measurements of logistics execution practices, pricing practices, service offerings and labor practices as constructs for sustainable logistics practices for transporters. Furthermore, the paper intended to explore the influence of sustainable logistics practices on logistics transport performance. The variables are linked with triple bottom line (TBL) model and variables are clustered based on environmental, economic and social dimension. Further, the variables of sustainable logistics practices were tested on logistics transport performance. In total, five hypotheses are postulated. The model testing was executed by applying PLS-SEM application. The data collection was based on transport users, which cover manufacturers, third party logistics service provider and freight forwarders. The model testing utilized 194 transport users in Malaysia to prove the formulated hypotheses on sustainable logistics practices on logistics transport performance. The results of the analysis show logistics service execution, pricing practice, labor practices have a significant positive relationship with logistics transport performance. The finding of the research shows sustainable logistics practices have a strong effect on logistics transport performance of transporters. A proper adoption of sustainable logistics practices among transport service provider will help them to further enhance their logistics transport performance. Validation of scale measurement for sustainable logistics practices of transports is the first of its kind in the literature on sustainability. The items incorporated are selected based on extensive literature review and experts from the transport industry. The paper describes empirical research on sustainable logistics practices for developing countries.
As the world ecology is becoming worse due to globalization and industrialization with the rising temperature and sea levels, many global logistics companies are applying green logistics as it is both economy and environment sustainable. Smaller and local Malaysian logistics companies are also trying to implement green logistics but faced certain obstructions such as financial insufficient, limited access of know-how and so on. The main objective of this paper is to identify and examine the ways to implement green logistics. In this case study, a global logistics company which is DB Schenker Malaysia was chosen as the research location. Qualitative data were obtained through various literatures and through 30 semi-structured open-ended interviews using purposive sampling. Data were then analyzed using thematic analysis. This study found that there were five main ways to implement green logistics which are by using green packaging, green storage, green technology, green transportation and reverse logistics. Findings also indicated that there were gaps between the chosen global logistics company and various literatures findings in terms of the ways to implement green logistics. The five main ways of implementing green logistics mentioned in this research can be used as a guide and also as a motivator for going green to the Malaysian logistics industry. Future improvement can be done by identifying ways to implement green logistics in other industries such as food and beverage industry or semiconductor industry to increase validity.

The aim of this study is to investigate how the sustainable green logistics system is impacted by sustainable green logistics activities utilizing a theoretical framework. In the beginning of this research, the elements of green logistics are outlined, along with current changes to this concept. Following an examination of earlier work on green logistics, this idea is examined. The green logistics' independent variables are financial economics, company environmental & social performance, logistics networking & transport, and information sharing are applied to clarify the influence of sustainable green logistics, which are significant indicators for assessing a company's performance. This study used data from earlier studies and SPSS to authenticate the data. Ensuring the dependability, independence, and reliability of each of a variable utilized in research. Value of Cronbach’s alpha which should be above 0.7 then the construct is reliable. Few limitations in our study, incl...

This study pursues to investigate the awareness and attitudes influences towards environmental management practices in the Malaysia logistics industry. This factor is being introduced in the logistic industries because of the complexity of the attributes. It also explores the logistics companies' willingness to adopt these practices. Based on an ongoing study, this paper insinuates a research model that defines the interrelationships between the factors.

Logistics has been regarded as a key determinant to business performance over the past 50 years. However, the increase in environmental concerns over pollution, climate change, congestion, waste disposal, and resource depletion among others have triggered an increased attention from the government and society. Business operations such as sourcing, manufacturing and logistics are believed to be responsible for most of the environmental problems. Besides, growing demand of customers and environmental societies for more environmental friendly products have led ‘green’ become a common practice to portray the environmental friendly image of products, processes, systems and technologies, and the way business is conducted. Therefore, green logistics practices were conceptualized concerning the production and distribution of goods in a sustainable way, taking into account the environmental and social factors. The main objective study is to investigate green logistics practices in food-based m...

Despite the increasing interest toward environmental issues in the freight transport and logistics service sector, a comprehensive and updated assessment of the existing literature is still missing. This paper aims to fill this gap by presenting the results of a systematic literature review of publications in the area of environmental sustainability in third-party logistics service providers (3PLs) between the years 2000 and 2016. The review offers insight into the critical dimensions of green matters in transport and logistics service companies using an analytical framework based on the following five topic areas: influencing factors, green actions and the impact on performance, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools supporting the green actions, energy efficiency in road freight transport and shipper's perspective and collaboration. The results indicate that, despite the number of published papers having grown significantly from 2008 onward, some areas remain highly under-researched such as ICT and performance measurement. Several research gaps have been identified in each topic area, and a set of propositions forming an agenda for future research directions has been suggested.

Technological development and globalization made the supply chain more complex in today’s business environment. In competitive market conditions, shippers tend to outsource most of their logistical activities to Third-Party Logistics (3PL) service providers. These activities have drawn attention of decision makers regarding sustainability concerns. This study examines sustainability initiatives which have been implemented particularly for the 3PL functions namely; transportation, warehousing and packaging services and their influence on performances. Empirical data have been collected through a worldwide online survey which has been sent to industrial experts working in logistics and supply chain management fields. The results were analyzed through the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The analysis indicated that, the 3PL functions significantly affect environmental, economic, social and operational performance, except packaging which had no significant impact on economic, operat...

Green logistics is an important element of production system in today's business. It blends several efforts to quantify and control the environmental impact of production activities in an enterprise. This research is intended to emphasize upon the ways by which organizations can accomplish positive ecological effects by modifying their logistics practices, thereby moving towards the goals of sustainable development. The study also appraises an account of green logistics practices in the present Indian business environment. This paper presents a study on the different dimensions of green logistics, challenges faced by companies in pursuing it and proposes strategies, by analysing the alternatives for green practices along with organizational objectives.
In the highly competitive economy, logistics performance measurement is a primary concern among practitioners and academia. The World Bank Logistics Performance Index (LPI) has produced the benchmark for more than 100 countries covering six main components that are related to the trade facilitation in the context of the logistics supply chain. However, the output of the index is based on logistics service providers, thus measuring the performance from the perspective of users , which does not only serve as a comparison study, but also remains as the ultimate study to prove the friendliness of logistics and trade facilitation involved in import and export processes. In the present work, six (6) components were used to assess logistics performance including environmental friendly. Results revealed that trade friendliness by the logistics services is improved and requires further analysis, according to the central hub of each sector in M alaysia. It attracts future development for the manufacturing industry by hav ing excellent logistics services facilities.
