In the recent decades, Urbanization has increased tremendously. At the same phase there is an increase in waste production. Waste management has been a crucial issue to be considered. This paper is a way to achieve this good cause. In this paper, smart bin is built on a microcontroller based platform Aurdino Uno board which is interfaced with GSM modem and Ultrasonic sensor. Ultrasonic sensor is placed at the top of the dustbin which will measure the stature of the dustbin. The threshold stature is set as 10cm. Aurdino will be programmed in such a way that when the dustbin is being filled, the remaining height from the threshold height will be displayed. Once the garbage reaches the threshold level ultrasonic sensor will trigger the GSM modem which will continuously alert the required authority until the garbage in the dustbin is squashed. Once the dustbin is squashed, people can reuse the dustbin. At regular intervals dustbin will be squashed. Once these smart bins are implemented on a large scale, by replacing our traditional bins present today, waste can be managed efficiently as it avoids unnecessary lumping of wastes on roadside .Foul smell from these rotten wastes that remain untreated for a long time, due to negligence of authorities and carelessness of public may lead to long term problems. Breeding of insects and mosquitoes can create nuisance around promoting unclean environment. This may even cause dreadful diseases.

In today’s era it is very important to manage and handle the waste. The waste bins kept in the public places overflows before the garbage cleaners arrive to collect the waste. As a result, the bins are not cleared off on timely basis and foul smell, maintaining of hygiene, spread of disease are the biggest problems in the public area. Smart Dustbin is the need of the hour for the urban areas. The paper aims at the development of a smart garbage bin alert system. The complete IoT based dustbin is designed and developed to automate the process and monitor it efficiently. The system measures the level of waste inside the bin and auto locks the garbage bin and informs municipal authorities about the same stating the location of the bin so that corrective measure can be taken for timely collection of garbage and avoidance of the filthiness in the area. The system will also adapt with network environment to manage all information from waste management.

Every person in this world throws waste in the form of plastics, wet waste, dry waste and etc. Also, every person looks for a place or a plastic container to dispose that waste, that plastic container is the Dustbin which they look for. Dustbin is a plastic container where everyone can dispose their waste. Dustbin is used as a storage place to dispose waste, but we cannot estimate the exact amount of waste disposed by a society, and the dustbin cannot take more waste as the space should be available in it to take more. We need to know the level of waste in the dustbin and based on that we can intimate people to use the dustbin or not. In this Smart Dustbin project, we have designed a prototype where the lid of the dustbin is opened, on detection of human hand and waste, and the level of waste available inside the dustbin is sent as notification in the form of LED. The main components we used in making this prototype are Arduino, NODEMCU, Servo Motor and Ultrasonic Sensors. The software component is the application named as Blynk which is used to get notification. This dustbin can be a start to Smart Waste Management System where the officials can clean or empty the dustbin which depends on the notification received by them and not waiting for a call from a person of a society who informs the garbage trucks to come and take the waste from them.
In this paper a cost effective dust bin monitoring system with street light is proposed. -SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN‖ -PM Narendra Modi's ambitious project to make INDIA a clean country. An efficient method to monitor the waste has been designed with some sensors and the output will display on the monitoring screen of municipality office. Level sensor detects the level of the garbage inside the bin and thus we get information about the level of garbage in the bins. The weight sensor is mounted at the bottom of dust bin and continuously monitors weight of garbage in to dustbin. On the receiver side continuously monitor garbage in to dustbin. Municipality takes many measures to maintain the cleanliness of the city. One of which is establishing dustbins in regular distance for the convenience of public to discard items. Cleaning this garbage is an important function of municipality which is directly related to health issues. We have designed a model for a ‗Smart Dustbin' which indicates directly that the dustbin is filled to a certain level by the garbage and cleaning or emptying them is a matter of immediate concern. This prevents lumping of garbage in the roadside dustbin which ends up giving foul smell and illness to people. The developing system will have a complete monitoring system which is IOT based. Also the information will be directly sent to the internet from system; no need of computer for transmission purpose which reduces the cost.

We often see garbage bins or dustbins placed in public places in our cities overflowing which adds to the ugliness of the area and odor spread at the same time.to overcome these situations an efficient smart garbage management methods has to be developed. A GSM based smart bins can be used to prevent all of these scenarios to which all the phone numbers of the official handling this section will be added .The status of the dustbin will be displayed on the screen when it reaches 75% and in the filled condition which is visible to the residents and an alarm message is sent to the officials also sometimes during rainy season the bin is filled up with water gives a nasty smell, to avoid this we use a rain sensor to identify the rain and our system automatically closes the bin Normally the garbage will be collected in the morning or in the allotted time, in case of deviations, an alert message will be sent to their higher officials. However, during a festival or a function, a lot of garbage is created by the people which fills up and overflows causing a flew of issues. This system now on identifying the condition sends a warning message regarding the garbage to the concern officials to take necessary actions like either cleaning or placing an extra bin. In our proposal system we use ultrasonic sensor, buzzer, servo motor, LCD, MEMS sensor, rain sensor and arduino board which is equipped with analog and digital input/output pins. Therefore, the automatic garbage fill alerting system make the garbage collection more efficient, which will effectively make our dustbins and also cities smart at the same time.

In Indonesia, waste is still a very serious problem. Garbage causes bad odors, air pollution, disease, and even flooding. Whenever and wherever each individual produces waste, waste can come from households and industries which have various types and forms. Public awareness to dispose of trash in the right place tends to be very lacking, laziness is increasingly formed when dustbins are not widely available, very dirty, the open and close system is still manual so that the hands can easily catch bacteria when interacting with the trash. This study aims to start from a small scope, namely implementing smart dustbins for the campus environment and educating the campus community so that their interest in disposing of garbage in the right place is higher. The recommended smart dustbin system has various types, namely mini-smart dustbin and super-smart dustbin. The waterfall method is used for the process of designing and implementing the system. Methods of data collection using observat...

The govt. of India has launched various smart city projects and for these cities to be smarter it is necessary that the system which collects the garbage has to be smarter. In addition to that it is necessary that people need easy accessibility to the garbage disposing points as well as the garbage collection process. It has to be efficient in terms of time and fuel cost. Most of the urban cities and town in India are not well designed to facilitate the proper garbage disposing and collection mechanism. Also there are cities which are expanding rapidly and are putting the pressure on the current infrastructure which is not developing at the same pace as that of the current urbanization. In our propose system we are going to check garbage fill status of the dustbin by using Ultrasonic Sensor, Buzzer, Arduino Board, Moisture Sensor, Wifi Model this will check the status and send the message to cloud that Dustbin is full, then message is sent to collection van through Wifi Module then garbage collection is done, if the Dustbin is not cleaned in paticular time we will send message to higher authority and they will take approprite action on it.Our proposed system is going to segregate Dry and Wet garbage. Therefore, the Automatic Garbage Fill Alerting system makes the garbage collection more efficient, which will ultimately make our dustbins and also cities smart at the same time.
we are living in a world that is in a state of constant up-gradation, but there is one ubiquitous problem that we haven't been able to deal with, the problem that is impeding our advancement to a hygienic, clean and healthy society, is garbage. Mostly in our daily life we encounter dustbins that are excessively full and garbage spilling out of them. This kind of situation is neither good for our environment nor for our advancement. This problem leads to huge number of diseases as large number of insects and mosquitoes breed on the waste accumulated in this garbage. Hence, we developed a project to control the overfilling of the dustbin by making the dustbin smart enough to notify itself for its cleaning. In this project the smart dustbin management system is built on the microcontroller based system having ultrasonic sensors on each of the four dustbins that will show the current status of garbage on the LCD screen as well as on the mobile.

In this paper, we present the Waste Management through Smart bin system that looks for the amount of waste in the bin. Dustbin containers are used for collecting the household as well as human society waste from all around the world[1][2][9]. Our system is designed such that it continuously collects real-time data to maximize the operational time and deliver this data through a wireless mesh network. The Smartbin system was tested in an outdoor environment. The collected data from the dustbin was applied with sense-making methods to obtain refined utilization of our smart bin. It also gives the daily seasonality information to the Municipal Corporation which enables them to make better & organized collection for recyclable, organic, and plastic waste. Human society disposes of a variety of waste materials daily and mainly this waste is categorized as dry waste, plastic waste, recyclable waste, sewage wastes, domestic wastes, etc. Our project focuses mainly on outdoor dustbins placed outside every corner of the street and societies that maintained by the Municipality. Household dustbins are used to collect wastes of a particular family, later that collected waste is disposed into the common dustbins of society. Since waste in roadside dustbins are not monitored and collected properly most of the times, hence our main motive is to efficiently organize and manage outdoor dustbins for a clean and hygienic environment

Too many people live in overcrowded society apartments at these urban centers which creates a problem for the concerned authorities to administer these areas properly, especially in the domain of WASH (Water Sanitation and Health). Our Project focuses on designing and implementing a system on a large scale to ensure smart and efficient management of waste collected in societies, apartments, office complexes as well as generate compost from the waste collected in office building complexes across various cities in India at a low cost with the help of technology. For this purpose, we have developed dustbins and compost bins integrated with GSM/GPRS based smart controllers which would contribute in aiding PM Modi’s “Smart City Mission” and “Swachh Bharat Mission” to a very large extent and help in better managementboth in...
Now days we see that dustbins are put at open places in the urban areas are overflowing because of increment in the waste continuously. It makes unhygienic condition and makes unpleasant smell around the surroundings nature leads in spreading some deadly diseases and human illness. To overcome such issues waste management system is proposed for Smart Cities which are based on Internet of Things (IoT). In this system there are numerous dust bins situated all over the city. It will take minimum efforts to clean all the dustbins over the city by checking whether the dustbins are full or not. Also it detects over weight through the load cell. Control system sends SMS as well as updates of dustbin will be upload on webpage automatically. The term waste management usually relates to all kinds of waste, whether generated during the extraction of raw materials, the processing of raw materials into final products, the consumption of final products, or other human activities, including municipal, agricultural, and social like health care etc. There needs to be system that gives prior information of the filling of the bin that alerts the municipality so that they can clean the bin on time and safeguard the environment.

Waste management is one of the world's most significant problems today, independent of rich or developing countries. One of the most frequent issues occurs when waste containers are fully overflowing before the following phase of cleaning starts. A smart waste disposal system is needed to avoid certain scenarios and to guarantee public cleanliness and hygiene. The ultrasonic sensor can detect/validate the filling level and the specific stature of the garbage in the trashcan. Programming is done in the Arduino UNO to get a cleaning message till a certain degree of filling is recognized. The study proposed an intelligent warning system to improve waste and cleanliness by delivering an instantaneous dustbin cleaning alarm signal to the municipal web server. The whole operation is regulated by a modules combined with RFID as well as IOT. The dustbin is in actual time and notifies the local authorities during collection, which is tracked and monitored with the use of this gadget.
