Il silenzio avvolge il breve scritto di María Zambrano che pubblichiamo in questo volume, Il venerato Larousse. L'articolo tratta del silenzio sotto cui la cultura egemonica (la cultura enciclopedica francese, nella fattispecie) passa le manifestazioni di culture e saperi "periferici", e al contempo, le circostanze e le vicende della sua apparizione (e sparizione) costituiscono una prova lampante della questione. Ripercorrerne la storia ci permette di esplorare tutte le dimensioni e le ragioni di questo silenzio, da cui esso finalmente emerge, dopo più di quaranta anni dalla sua composizione. La prima traccia dello scritto si trova in una lettera di Zambrano diretta all'amica Elena Croce, datata 29 giugno del 1972, dove la filosofa informa di aver spedito in una busta, assieme ad altri materiali, un «divertissement» concernente «Il Larousse della filosofía». 1 Si riferisce-questo lo si deduce per le date-al volume di Julia Didier, Dictionaire de la philosophie, pub...

VERCELLI TERRITORY ROMANIZATION AND SUPPOSED PRESENCE OF THE SALASSI PEOPLE IN THE BIELLA REGION. The allegations and inventions published by officials of the Archaeologic Superintendence of Pijedmont are highlighted and stigmatized: accepted by various authors as sacrosanct thruth, they spread false historical information on the ancient glold mines (aurifodinae) of the Ivrea and Vercelli regions, and, more in general, on the romanization of this part of the Cisalpine Gaul. The ten-years studies of the author and his ground explorations allow to state that: 1) It is not true that Strabo named as Dora a generic streams used by the Salassi people to wash their gold mines, and it is not true that he appoints the Libui of Vercelli as the people damaged by the alluvial mining: the greek author clearly mention the Dora (to day Dora Baltea) as the exact name of the river crossing the Salassi territory, and both he and Cassius Dio they mean that the dispute occurred within tha same people (the Salassi), however it is also aknowledged by recent authoritative . 2) It is not true that, with the conquest of the mines in 140 BC, the Romans penetrated inside the Ivrea's Morainic Amphitheater: gold mines position, recognized and studied by the author outside the amphitheater, the Salassi maintenance of the water needed for washing, and subsequent historical events, show that only in 100 BC the Roman conquest spreads inside. The same events and the ground evidences confirm the built hypothesis of an anti-Salassi limes, after the first conquest. 3) It is not true that the mines conquered in 140 BC were those of Ictimuli (Bessa) and that these ones were already exploited by the Salassi: Strabo hold that the Salassi mines are distinct from the Ictimuli ones, and both he and Pliny they place these last ones in the Vercelli territory, that is clearly distinct from the Salassi ones by geographical, historical and cultural point of view. 4) It is not true that there existed a people called Ictimuli: Strabo and Pliny speak clearly about a village, that is located in the Saint Second plain and should not be confused with other similary named or atificially assimilated, elsewhere they are. 5) There are no witnesses or evidences that inside the Ictimuli mines were used dediticii men, from Salassi or belonging of other people, and it is not true that Pliny affirms it. 6) It is not true that in the alleged Saint Second ponderarius was weighed the nearby mines gold, also because the gravestone fragment that would attest the ponderarius presence is more than a century later the mines closing: the fragment also seems to be reused material coming from Ivrea and it is connected to the local Saint Second faith, starting from IX-X century PC.

Il 10 febbraio 1932 si spegneva improvvisamente, all'età di 57 anni non ancora compiuti, durante un soggiorno a Hollywood per la preparazione dell'ennesimo adattamento cinematografico delle sue opere, il grande scrittore inglese di "gialli" Edgar Horatio Wallace, probabilmente per una polmonite fulminante e per l'effetto contemporaneo di un diabete mai curato. Genio narrativo e di sceneggiatore "thriller", divenuto celebre fin dal primo esplosivo successo del romanzo giallo "The Four Just Men" (I quattro giusti, 1905), alcune trame risultano intrise di "tecnologia" e ritrovati tecnici dell'ultima frontiera... Un ingegnere del thriller honoris causa, se oggi potessimo assegnarlo in maniera postuma!
