The thesis investigates the impact of processes of interregional connections and exchange on economic development in Habsburg Galicia between the late 18th and early 20th century by applying the centre-periphery model and the postcolonial approach. In the first part of the study, which follows a quantitative approach, the structural characteristics of the Galician economy and their inducement by trade, money flows, migration and technology are traced. In contrast the second part, which follows a narrative and discursive orientation, uncovers not only the actors of these interactions, but also highlights the regulation of interregional competition by the state's institutions. In this context, discourses legitimizing or transforming socioeconomic spatial orders in connection with developmental paradigms are paid special attention. The paper focuses on an analysis of the four-part drama cycle The C ity of People by the Austrian philosopher and completely unknown writer Susanna Schmida-Wöllersdorfer (1894-1981) who came from Moravian Wallachia (C zech Republic). This cycle ranks among Schmida-Wöllersdorfer´s early dramatic works from her literary estate that remains to a great extent unexplored. All the dramas show features of literary expressionism, they bear palpable traces of her philosophical system and esoteric practices as well. Furthermore, The City of People includes a syncretic construction of old and modern myths (antiquity, Christianity, modernity). The focus is on the image of a threatened civilization. The main protagonist Urtig is the prototypical good man of expressionism, but he plays a double role here. He is both a rebel and a tyrant, a subject and an object. The cycle takes up the phenomenon of loss of transcendence in modern times and it offers a model of social and political utopia.

Im Juni 1873 diktiert Nietzsche seinem Freund Carl von Gersdorff den Text der Schrift „Über Wahrheit und Lüge im aussermoralischen Sinne“. Obwohl die Schrift zu Lebzeiten Nietzsches unveröffentlicht blieb, kann sie als geeignete Einführung in sein gesamtes Philosophieren ange-sehen werden. Denn in prägnanter Form tauchen hier fast alle Themen auf, die auch im späteren, reifen Denken Nietzsches zentral und tragend bleiben werden: von ontologischen und epistemo-logischen Fragestellungen über die Problematik von Moralphilosophie und Sprache bis hin zum Zusammenhang von künstlerischem Schaffen, Genie und Kultur. Der zweitägige Sommerkurs in Zagreb wendet sich an fortgeschrittene Studierende, Promovie-rende und Postdocs. Ziel des Kurses ist es, in Form von Vorträgen, gemeinsamer Diskussion und Lektüre ausgewählter Texte einen tieferen Einblick in diese frühe Schrift zu vermitteln.
