Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is business management software that allows an organization to use a system of integrated applications to manage the business. ERP software integrates all facets of an operation, including development, manufacturing, sales and marketing. A survey of nearly 400 IT executives who had an ERP system installed found that more than 85 percent of them agreed or strongly agreed that their ERP systems were essential to the core of their businesses, and that they "could not live without them." Though there has been recent IT scuttlebutt that ERP systems are now shrugged off as legacy inside 21st-century businesses, almost 80 percent of those surveyed disagreed or strongly disagreed with the statement, "My company views ERP systems as legacy systems and no longer invests in them." And when asked if their company would be able to live without its ERP systems within the next five years, more than 80 percent disagreed or strongly disagreed. For better or worse, ERP systems are here to stay.

This study aims to highlight on the effect of Enterprise Resource Planning System. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system consists of different sets of software that are used to integrate the business functions in a company or organization. Given that these solutions provide an integrated solution to the needs of an organization, these systems are in high demand by all organizations. The full potential of these systems can only be realized only if they are successfully implemented. However, the implementation process is costly and time consuming, and thus requires careful planning and organization. If successfully implemented, ERP systems provide many benefits to those organizations that adopt them. On the other hand, if the implementation process is not successful, the venture can prove costly. By examining the existing literature on this topic, this paper focuses on how ERP systems can be successfully implemented in organization and the critical success factors. The information provided in this paper may be used to guide organizations in the implementation of ERP systems.
Though enterprise resource planning (ERP) has gained some prominence in the information systems (IS) literature over the past few years and is a signi®cant phenomenon in practice, through (a) historical analysis, (b) meta-analysis of representative IS literature, and (c) a survey of academic experts, we reveal dissenting views on the phenomenon. Given this diversity of perspectives, it is unlikely that at this stage a broadly agreed de®nition of ERP can be achieved. We thus seek to increase awareness of the issues and stimulate further discussion, with the ultimate aim being to: (1) aid communication amongst researchers and between researchers and practitioners; (2) inform development of teaching materials on ERP and related concepts in university curricula and in commercial education and training; and (3) aid communication amongst clients, consultants and vendors. Increased transparency of the ERP-concept within IS may also bene®t other aligned ®elds of knowledge.

Understanding the motives and the impacts of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is an important issue for ERP customization process as well as for the evaluation process of such investment. This research aims to investigate the motives and the expected impacts of ERP implementation in an Egyptian healthcare entity using case study research method. We investigated motives according to six groups of motives labeled managerial-operational, managerial-strategic, clinical-operational, clinical-strategic, technological, and financial motives. Five categories for the impacts of ERP implementation were also proposed, including technology, people, process, patient, and financial. The results indicate that managerial-operational and clinicaloperational are important groups of motives. Furthermore, the impacts of ERP system on people is the highest compared to other impact categories.
