Steganography is meant for confidential communication as well as secret data sharing between sender and a receiver using various media files. Today, it's being broadly used over Internet. Due to the rapid development in Technology and Communication and the use of Internet at alarming rate, the security of the data and information is a major concern these days. Every day, confidential data has been jeopardize and unauthorized access of data has crossed the limits. Steganography provide us to conceal the presence of confidential data, difficult to detect the embedded data and enhancing the stealthiness of the encrypted data. The crucial information is being encrypted into media file such as images, audio, text as well as video as it is the art of hiding information. As steganography is very close to cryptography and its applications so both are widely used techniques that encrypt data in order to cipher or hide their existence. This paper focuses on various pros and cons of steganography, overview to its techniques and relationship with cryptography.
Abstract— Digital communication has become an essential part of infrastructure nowadays, a lot of applications are Internet-based and it is important that communication be made secret. As a result, the security of information passed over an open channel has become a fundamental issue and therefore, the confidentially and data integrity are required to protect against unauthorized access and use. This has resulted in an unstable growth in the field of information hiding. In a modern era of Information Technology, illicit copying and illegal distribution accompany the adoption of widespread electronic distribution of copyrighted material. This is the main reason why people think about how to protect their work and how to prevent such unlawful activities. For this purpose various methods including cryptography, steganography, Digital signature, coding and so on have been used. Steganography is the best suited technique that allow user to hide a message in another message (cover media). Most of steganography research uses cover media as pictures, video clips, text and sounds. This paper focuses on the various techniques in steganography to enhance the security of communication over an open channel.

The data like username, password, and others will be hacked by the hackers and they can abuse the same. This issue can be comprehended typically by utilizing encryption and decryption algorithms. Encryption is a procedure of changing over clear secret data into indiscernible structure (Cipher Text). Decryption is a methodology of changing over the mixed up cipher text into decipherable structure. Both sender of the data and the beneficiary of the data utilizes same key for encrypting and decrypting. Yet the encryption and decryption algorithms have not given 100% security. The reason is that the hackers effortlessly will discover the key by catching the packets and breaking down the jaunty text utilizing different software and fittings. So we need an alternate way like steganography for hiding sensitive information. Even though both cryptography and steganography has its own advantages and disadvantages, we can combine both the techniques together. This paper presents a comparative study of both cryptography and steganography.

The growth of high speed computer networks and that of the Internet, in particular, has increased the ease of Information Communication. Ironically, the cause for the development is also of the apprehension -use of digital formatted data. In comparison with Analog media, Digital media offers several distinct advantages such as high quality, easy editing, high fidelity copying, compression etc. But this type advancement in the field of data communication in other sense has hiked the fear of getting the data snooped at the time of sending it from the sender to the receiver. So, Information Security is becoming an inseparable part of Data Communication. In order to address this Information Security, Steganography plays an important role. Steganography is the art and science of writing hidden messages in such a way that no one apart from the sender and intended recipient even realizes there is a hidden message. This paper is a tutorial review of the steganography techniques appeared in the literature.

Steganography is the technique of hiding information so that any intermediate third party is unaware about the presence of secret message. Digital steganography uses some digital media as the cover for the secret message, like in our case, we have used digital images as the cover media. Essence of steganography is that the third party should never be able to detect the presence of secret message in the cover image. Once the third party detects the secret message, it is assumed that the steganography technique has failed to serve its purpose. The proposed model presents a novel approach of develop a secure data hiding technique of Steganography using wavelet transform, Some logical operations, binary convertor, along with random number generation method. Keywords— Digital image, information hiding, steganography, PSNR value, LSB.

Today's large demand for internet applications requires data to be transmitted in a safe and secure manner. Data transmission in public communication system insecure because of interception and improper manipulation by eavesdropper. So the solution for this problem is Steganography, Steganography is the art of hiding one medium of information into another medium. There are many approaches for hiding textual information in multimedia file such as image, audio and video. Hiding textual information in multimedia file provides the most effective way to guard privacy. Key aspect of embedding text in multimedia file is that, after embedding text in multimedia file the size of the multimedia file remains same. The existing system can't provide more security and message length is restricted to few characters only. The proposed technique alters the data of lower bit in a cover object to embed textual information. The main goal of this paper is to embed textual information into multimedia file and the text message is encrypted before embedding to get advantage of cryptography.

Transmitting confidential images between two channels suffer from hacking. Therefore, protecting confidentiality has become a very essential issue. Recently, several methods are developed to protect important information. The main idea is based on embedding important information in multimedia carrier such as: text, image, audio, and video. The developed methods may be classified as steganography and watermarking. Steganography aims to embed huge amount of secret data in multimedia carrier while watermarking aims to hid small amount of secret data in multimedia carrier. This paper first presents a literature survey of information hiding, then classifies the proposed methods, and finally introduces a comparative study between the different methods.

Secure data communication is a key factor today while communicating through the unreliable network. Nowadays almost all applications are internet-based and it is important that communication made confidential and secure. But network of so many people is always unreliable. Cryptography and steganography are two important techniques which is used for secret and reliable communication over the network. Cryptography is the process of protecting information using different cryptographic algorithms so that only the intended person can read and process it. Steganography is the process of protecting information by hiding it inside another file such as image, audio, video and so on. But in recent years cryptanalysis study becomes so strong that only cryptography or only steganography alone may not enough for securing data. So the combination of cryptography and steganography produce stronger method than previous. In recent years many works has done or proposed about combining different types...
Steganography is an art of hiding information in innocuous looking cover objects. The main goal of steganography is to avoid drawing intuition about transmission of message. The terms 'Steganography' and 'Steganalysis' are used in information hiding process. Steganography basically deals with hiding information in digital media while steganalysis is the method of detecting the presence of hidden message in it. The term 'Steganography' is often confused with 'Cryptography' which converts message into indecipherable form. Progress made in the field of steganography in terms of using different multimedia files such as images, audio, video, text files as cover objects for hiding information is attracting more people to work in this area.
— The two important aspects of security that deal with transmitting information or data over some medium like internet are cryptography and steganography. Cryptography results in converting plain text into cipher text which is in unreadable or in non-explanatory form, difficult to be guessed by eavesdropper, Steganography on the other hand hides the secret data into carrier medium in such a way that its detection is prevented. Steganography is not a replacement of cryptography but can supplement it to produce good results. It is observed that steganography and cryptography alone is not sufficient for information security, so we can make more secure and robust approach by combining the best of both techniques. This paper describes the various steganography techniques combined with cryptography.
Throughout thousand ages the need for secure communication and private conversation has led to the invention of Cryptography. The word Cryptography is combination of the Greek words (kryptó), which means "hidden"; and (graphein), which means "writing", it is the act of having secure communication in the presence of third party called adversary. On the other hand Steganography is to conceal a secret message or image within another message and to extract this secret message only at its destination, the word steganography combines the Greek words (steganos), which means "concealed", and (graphein) which means "writing". While cryptography is the protection of a message contents alone, steganography is concerned with concealing the contents of a secret message, so steganography improves cryptography by hiding an encrypted message so that no one will suspect its existence. The main goal of steganography is to communicate securely in a completely undetectable manner and to avoid drawing suspicion to the transmission of a hidden data. It is not to keep others from knowing the hidden information, but it is to keep others from thinking that the information even exists. Thousands of years ago cryptography began by the application of codes and ciphers to protect secret messages, by the beginning of 20th century the invention of complex machines, such as the Enigma rotor machine, have provided more sophisticated ways of encryption; and subsequently introduction of computer systems has increased the efficiency and complexity of encryption. Nowadays modern digital Steganography became more sophisticated than the cryptography, allowing a user to hide large amounts of information within image or audio files. These forms of steganography are often used in conjunction with cryptography so that the information is doubly protected; first it is encrypted and then hidden so an adversary has to find the information first and then decrypt it. Researches are still underway to develop this technology and use it to protect the information in all fields. This paper is a trial to know and understand the Steganography as a technology and to make a comparison between cryptography and steganography.
The paper explore about an overview of steganography, different methods of steganography, its applications and how it is different from cryptography Digital communication has become an essential part of infrastructure. Nowadays, a lot of applications are Internet-based and demand of internet applications requires data to be transmitted in a secure manner. Data transmission in public communication system is not secure because of interception and improper manipulation by eavesdropper. So different techniques like cryptography and steganography are used to secure the communication. Steganography is the scheme of hiding the existence of secret information in the cover file.
The goal of steganography is to avoid drawing suspicion to the transmission of a hidden message. If suspicion is raised, steganography may fail. The success of steganography depends on the secrecy of the action. If steganography is detected, the system will fail but data security depends on the robustness of the applied algorithm. In this paper, we compress the secret message and encrypt it by the receiver's public key along with the stego key and embed both messages in a carrier using an embedding algorithm. The stego -image is the result we get by running the algorithm you select on the message (file to hide) and cover (image). It can be saved into BMP or PNG format. The reason that it can only be saved in these formats is because they are lossless -there is no information lost as part of the file formatting. The various applications of steganography include secure military communications, multimedia watermarking and fingerprinting applications for authentication purposed to curb the problem of digital piracy.
Security techniques such as: secrecy, authentication, non-repudiation and integrity control. Secrecy techniques are in two categories: cryptography and steganography. Steganography and cryptography is a very useful technique to achieve secrecy in communication. One hides the existence of the message as well as the further distorts the message itself. By means of cryptography, the data is transformed into some other gibberish form and then the encrypted data is transmitted. In steganography, the data is embedded in an image file and the image file is transmitted. This paper spotlights on the potency of combining cryptography and steganography methods to enhance the security of communication over an open channel.

Steganography, literally meaning “secret writing”, involves hiding a data file in another innocuous-looking file. From the time of Herodotus in Greece, to the defense mechanisms of today, steganography has been used to deny one’s adversaries the knowledge of message traffic. Steganography takes one piece of information and hides it within another. A “container file” holds the secret message in it, in such a way that the existence of the message cannot be suspected. This could be done in several possible ways, with newer methods being discovered with each passing day. In this paper, a detailed analysis of steganography is made. The history of steganography is briefly dealt with. How steganography works is examined, keeping in mind Bender’s specifications. Data hiding is implemented in three different media; text, audio and image files. Each offers challenges and solutions to these challenges are analysed. How they is implemented using steganographic tools is also seen. The main chara...

Abstract:-Steganography is the method of hiding data in such a way that no one, except the sender and the intended recipient, expects the existence of the hidden data. Thus the goal here is always to conceal the very existence of the secret data embedded in an innocent data in such a way that it will be undetectable, robust and the innocent data should be able to accommodate high capacity of the secret data.
Now a day's security is one of the prime factors while communicating on the network. Lakhs of peoples are actually using internet and share their information with each other. In such a scenario it becomes necessary that only intended person will fetch and read the confidential matter. Steganography is one of the way through which you can hide your data (Text form) into image or video. So that if any person has that image they cannot understand the information easily. In this paper, we will study about the steganography and cryptography.
Steganography has been derived from the Greek word Steganous (covered, concealed or protected) and Graphie (writing) which means “covered writing”. It is the process of hiding a secret message with an ordinary message. Which when viewed by someone else will be able to see only the ordinary message they will fail to identify that it contains a hidden or encrypted message. The hidden message can be extracted once it reaches its destination. Steganography is now gaining popularity among the masses because of ease in use and abundant tools available. In this paper, the emphasis is given on the basic technique used to implement Steganography and also how to extract the data and check whether the file received by the reader carries some hidden message. Paper also depicts various tools available for the same.
