Difficulties associated to the relationship between family and school have become a growing issue within specialized literature. Numerous authors agree on the importance of strengthening links between these two institutions, yet answers are not easy to agree on. High school education shows even more difficulties to involve families in the education process. This research focuses on the perspectives of high school teachers -key actors within these processes-on the relationship between family and school. The research retorted to a qualitative methodology, based on two Focus Groups that involved eleven first grade high school teachers. The information was processed using a content analysis technique (Bardin, 1987). Some of the main results that we reached pint out that high school teachers consider it essential to involve the children's families, but this is not easily achieved, due to the families' difficulties. We also found out that both institutions lack clear guidelines to encourage and facilitate the relationship and that the teacher´s training does not enhance their ability to promote a proper relationship with the family.

The present research work shows the results of the implementation of a program of self-esteem worshops to improve the academic achievement os students al "Dulce Nombre de Jesús" School, District of Jesús, Cajamarca who come from broken homes. The research hypothesis was: The implementation of a program of self-esteem worshops for students who come from broken families significantly enhances their academic achievement in mathematics and communication. The simple consisted of 35 students whit low academic with low academic achievement and who belonged to broken homes. This research type is experimental, whit pre-experimental desing, since the study was carried out with only one group of students. The results of the comparison between the pre-test and the post-test using the Coopersmith Inventory with the students of the study samples, show that the imeplementation of the self-steem program improved both the students' self-steem to 66.73%. on average, as well as their academic achievement to 10.43% in mathematics and 17.57% in comunication. Thus. The hypothesis has been confirmed and the research aims have been attained.
