Abstract Removing high-frequency undulations in surfaces is a problem that appears in different fields, such as computer graphics and computational fluid mechanics. This problem is typically handled by surface smoothing techniques, such as Laplacian filters, that eliminate high-frequency undulations but degrade the volume encompassed by the surface.
