KEKERASAN DALAM MEDIA MASSA; PERSPEKTIF KULTIVASI

Abstrak Sebagai masyarakat modern, keterlibatan teknologi merupakan hal yang tidak dapat dinafikan. Hampir semua kegiatan masyarakat tidak dapat lepas dari unsur teknologi. Begitu juga dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan mereka untuk mengakses informasi. Peran media komunikasi yang dipandang cukup efektif dalam memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat akan beragam informasi yang cepat dan akurat saat ini semakin bervariasi. Eksistensi media cetak maupun teknologi sebagai bagian dari media komunikasi massa yang mampu memberikan informasi pada khalayak dengan jumlah yang tak terbatas, sudah menjadi bagian dari kehidupan masyarakat yang tak terpisahkan. Keberhasilan media komunikasi massa dalam memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat akan informasi tanpa disadari menjadikan media komunikasi massa sebagai kiblat yang dapat memiliki pengaruh besar bagi perubahan sikap, pikiran dan perilaku masyarakat. Hal ini banyak disebabkan oleh adanya unsure persuasi sebagai salah satu bentuk social influence yang sering terjadi dalam kegiatan komunikasi massa. Melalui media komunikasi massa, kegiatan persuasi oleh komunikator yang terlibat dalam kegiatan komunikasi massa tersebut sangat dominan. Dominasi unsur persuasi inilah yang menyebabkan banyak perubahan dalam kehidupan masyarakat sebagai efek dari kehadiran media komunikasi massa tersebut. Efek dari teknik persuasi yang terdapat dalam kegiatan komunikasi massa sering terjadi diluar kesadaran masyarakat sebagai komunikan. Maka diperlukan sikap yang cerdas dalam melakukan kontrol dan seleksi terhadap setiap pesan yang diterima melalui media komunikasi massa. In mass communication it call effects of communication. However, it could not be denied the presence of mass media as a form of physical in this case television, would also provide an effect. Of course, it will so naive if that effect only for messages related to media only. This will override the influence of many mass media. We should already see the effect of the mass media relating to both the message and the presence of the media it self.

ABSTRAK Tulisan berisi tentang gagasan mengenai pelaksanaan studi komunikasi dalam paradigma kritikal. Gagasan dimaksud berbasis pada fenomena wacana korupsi anggota DPR dalam kasus aliran dana BI melalui BLBI di DPR yang dimediasi dalam suratkabar Media Indonesia dan Republika. Berdasarkan hasil pembahasan, maka rumusan masalah yang sekiranya pas diterapkan dalam riset guna membongkar interest-interest atau ideologi-ideologi yang ada di balik pewacanaan korupsi anggota DPR itu, yaitu : 1) Bagaimana pewacanaan tentang korupsi Anggota DPR RI terkait kasus BLBI dalam media suratkabar nasional ? a. Bagaimanakah isi dan struktur teksnya dalam pewacanaan itu?; b. Bagaimanakah produksi teksnya dalam pewacanaan itu? ; 2) Mengapa media mewacanakan korupsi Anggota DPR RI terkait kasus BLBI dengan cara demikian ? Adakah ideologi tertentu bermain di balik pewacanaan tersebut ? ; 3) Bagaimana pembaca memaknai pewacanaan korupsi Anggota DPR RI dalam kasus BLBI oleh media ? The mass media is the main instrument in the modernization of the educational process, including reasonable speed up the process of completion of education, especially for students who are in the suburbs. For that play a role in educating the nation, the media is able to display the balance argumentation and there is also a balance between positive and negative, so that the information obtained is expected to educate students and to improve the quality of education. Character education is a basic concept that is applied to the thought of someone to make spiritual and physical character of character. Character education should be applied to the person's mind from an early age, teenagers and even adults, so as to form the character of a person's character becomes more valuable and immoral. The ability of the media to educate while providing widespread influence without insulated space and time are the special advantages that ought to be utilized. Moreover, the mass media consumers in almost all people, both from the middle to the top, middle and bottom. This is very beneficial for educators to transfer knowledge to the readers or viewers.

Indonesians are categorized as Views Society, i.e. society who significantly spent most of their leisure times in front of the screen, instead of doing other activities, such as reading. Television, on the other hand, proved to be an effective media whose outreach and penetration potent were undefeatable compared with other media. This situation turns to be problematic, due to the low quality of television which contained violence materials. People naturally learn violence from television. Being overexposed to violence materials, people were getting used to solve their problems by means of violence, too.
