Pomacs are Bulgarian speaking Muslims who accepted Islam between 15th and 19th century. Most of contemporary population of Pomacs, counting overall about 400 thousands, live in the Rodops (the part of the Greek side). For many years the assimilation attempt has been making on this population by changing their Muslim names and surnames. This article concerns about the reasons and the prizes which are paid for these changes. Author relies on her own research and confronts own remarks with dictionary data.

The article discusses one of the fundamental problems in preparing critical editions of old literature: issues concerning quotations and other intertextual references. Orbis Polonus by Szymon Okolski constitutes excellent material for such a discussion. Though essentially an armorial, apart from typically heraldic and historical content, it contains extensive passages of moral instruction based on symbolic interpretation of given armorial bearings. Within such discourse, the readers receive much information from various fields of knowledge. This knowledge, however, is not systematised in any way; the author is simply citing information, famous sayings or poetic fragments that have occurred to him as related to the coat of arms he is writing about. The Theoretical Status of the Emblem in Polish Decorative Art This paper argues that the theoretical status of the emblem in decorative art has methodological significance in emblem studies and art history, comparable to its status in the so-called book’s editorial frame. This claim is justified in the historical and theoretical tradition of defining emblems in the sources. The departure point for the author’s considerations comes from the findings of applied emblematics, and its foundation is provided by the theoretical sources describing symbolic genres (scil. emblema, symbolum, hierogliphicum) published in Poland from the 16th to the 18th century, including books of poetics, rhetoric, dictionaries and compendia. Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie prawdy w literaturze. Punktem wyjścia dla analiz jest koncepcja Romana Ingardena. Odmawia on dziełu literackiemu jako dziełu sztuki prawdziwości w sensie logicznym. Według Ingardena literackie dzieło sztuki jako przedmiot czysto intencjonalny niczego nie orzeka o świecie transcendentnym. The author analyzes, among others, the origins of the young-age text by Zygmunt Krasiński entitled Mściwy karzeł i Masław, książę mazowiecki. Following other scholars, he associates the composition's writing with the press note Zamek Węgierski Kseith in "Dziennik Warszawski" in 1826. It is that year which is believed to be the hypothetical date of the creation of Krasiński's little work. According to him, the evidence for that is not only the time of printing the note, but also the ineptitude of form in Krasiński's story, as well as the dependencies (described in the article) on The Black Dwarf by Walter Scott, translated into Polish also in 1826. Some data is also provided by the memoirs by Konstanty Gaszyński. In the further part of the article the author discusses the history of reception of Mściwy karzeł and analyzes the proper and stylistic interferences which Krasiński's composition was subject to in "Zbieracz Literacki" in 1838, reissuing it eight years after the first printing in 1830 in "Pamiętnik dla Płci Pięknej".

Adnotacja. Niniejszy artykuł jest pierwszym opracowaniem dotyczącym emblematyki w Rzeczypospolitej pod rządami Stanisława Augusta (1764–1795). Na podstawie źródeł, przede wszystkim opisów dekoracji okazjonalnych, określono zakres występowania i funkcje kompozycji symbolicznych w sztuce i literaturze epoki, kojarzonej jednoznacznie z odrzuceniem tradycji symbolicznej renesansu i baroku. Scharakteryzowano ówczesny status terminologiczny gatunków symbolicznych (emblema, hierogliphicum, symbolum), który zmienił się za sprawą francuskojęzycznej teorii (m.in. teorii dewizy, ikonologii, epigramu), skutkując przemianami (nie tylko emblematyki) w zakresie stylistyki i estetyki. Wskazano m. in. tendencje świadczące o zmianie myślenia o symbolice pod wpływem zainteresowania antykiem i klasycyzmem, zwiastujące nowoczesną refleksję dedykowaną symbolowi i metaforze. The commentary on the chapter "Philosophy of Language and Objective Psychology" is devoted first to establishing the functional position of this part of the book within the entirety of the considerations presented in Marxism and Philosophy of Language (MiFJ), serving as an outline for a-never realised-research programme, relation to other disciplines, reconstruction of basic assumptions, specificity of the moment of publication). The second part discusses the key contexts of MiFJ (Marrism, Lev Vygotsky's psychology), which are particularly relevant to the translated chapter.
