In the current conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new challenge has emerged in relation to the health of pregnant women and newborns. The aim of our work was to review the literature regarding placenta status in pregnant women infected with SARS COV2 and to compare the results of our literature analysis with relevant data from other systematic reviews on this issue. We compared the data of 5 scientific papers/results of histo-morphological research of 183 placentas. Our analysis of literature data revealed that SARS COV2 damages the placenta, and these lesions are manifested in the maternal and fetal parts of the placenta, predominantly in the form of vascular disorders. The results of our literature analysis were the same with the data of two other systematic reviews. In one of them, 1008 and in the other 1452 placenta histopathological research results were compared. Based on literature data, SARS COV2 damages the placenta, although reliable pathognomonic markers have not been rigorously identified. According to preliminary data, the presence of multiple microthrombi inside the blood vessels is noteworthy, which should be explained by the damaging effect of SARS COV2 on blood clotting factors. The deepening of scientific research on issues related to the development of microthrombus in the placenta has a principal significance. Some pathognomonic markers may be detected.

A rare case of SCFN was diagnosed in a newborn, a rare disease in the neonatal period, emphasizes the importance of a histological findings for a definitive diagnosis. Subcutaneous fat necrosis of the newborn (SCFN) is an uncommon panniculitis of neonates. Although SCFN is a self-limited condition, recognition of this entity is important, as affected infants require monitoring for associated hypercalcemia or other complications. SCFN generally has a good outcome, with spontaneous resolution of skin lesions over weeks to months. However, death from hypercalcemia has been reported in a few infants with SCFN.

The consequence of this immune dysregulation ranges from the production of autoantibodies to the onset of rheumatic autoimmune disease. We are witnessing the increased incidence of rheumatic diseases. The main diseases reported were vasculitis and arthritis. Studies are needed to find the link between the SARS-CoV-2 and new onset-rheumatic diseases, so that this knowledge can be used in early diagnosis and the affective management.

Genetic factor is the leading in the development of varicose veins, although certain risk factors, including: overweight, old age, female gender, sedentary lifestyle, lower limb trauma and others contribute to its formation. Thrombophilia is a risk factor for the development of venous thrombosis and chronic recurrent trophic ulcer, although the relationship between them is not well understood. Hereditary thrombophilia is a rare disease characterized by severe complications. The correlation between thrombophilia, varicose veins, and chronic venous ulceration is quite strong. This paper describes the case of a 43-year-old man who was treated in the intensive care unit of the clinic in July 2019 with the diagnosis: thromboembolism of the pulmonary artery, thrombophilia, phlebitis and thrombosis in the phase of recanalization, with chronic venous insufficiency of the lower limbs, with a long history of varicose veins of both limbs and with diabetes mellitus. Faced complaints were: easy fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, feeling of heaviness and pain in the lower limbs, swelling. In the anamnesis -several cases of exacerbation of superficial vein thrombophlebitis were present. Despite the uncertain prognosis, remission was achieved on the background of intensive anticoagulation therapy. Considering recurrent thrombophlebitis, screening was prescribed. The case is interesting from both a theoretical and a practical point of view, since the described severe process became manageable -the acute form was transformed into a chronic one with a long remission. At this stage, the disease is not progressing, there are no additional complications.

The risk of developing of the diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis, osteoporosis, arthritis, type 2 diabetes and cancer increases with age. This is why these diseases are also referred to as age-related diseases. There is evidence that the development of age-related diseases significantly contributes to the so-called. Immune aging, in particular, age-related changes in the immune system, one of the manifestations of which is a low level systemic chronic inflammation. The term "inflammatory aging" (Inflamm-aging) well describes the close relationship between low-grade chronic inflammation and aging. At the present stage of the development of medicine, the mechanisms associated with the development of age-related, low-level, chronic inflammatory processes and the ways of their evaluation require further in-depth, multidisciplinary studies. Clearly, inflammatory aging is a predictor of many age-related disease development and high risk of death. Clinical ...

The current study is the first attempt to examine the relations between Russia and Georgia within the context of international political processes of the second half of the 18th century, in particular, the Seven Years’ War, the plan for the redistribution of Europe, and the “Greek Project”. The global historical process of the second half of the 18th century is of special importance for the proper assessment of the history of Georgia. The Russian and Soviet historiography deliberately distorted the facts and events of the time leading to the improper assessment of the annexation of Georgia and the Caucasus. The European contacts of King Erekle II of Kartli-Kakheti were deliberately erased, and hence the Caucasus was declared a geostrategic space on Russian orbit and was artificially separated from the global historical processes. Therefore, a violent political act, the conquest of Georgia was disguised as an alliance corresponding to the idea of Christian common faith. The article a...

The purpose of the study was to review the spread of some endocrine disorders in Georgia under the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. The distribution of some diseases of the endocrine system between 2015 and 2021 was analyzed, such as diabetes mellitus -type I and II, as well as thyroid gland diseases -iodine-deficiency hypothyroidism and other forms of hypothyroidism, thyroiditis, thyrotoxicosis. It was determined that during the pandemic, the morbidity rate of these diseases was significantly (almost 2 times) lower than the values recorded before the pandemic. It should be noted that, most likely, these indicators cannot reflect the true number of patients, which is related to the isolation of the population and the disruption of registration in the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic. Disorders of the endocrine system, nutrition and metabolism during the current pandemic have not yet been adequately studied. The association between endocrine, nutritional and metabolic disorders and covid-19 is mostly tentative and based on recent small-scale studies. In order to obtain reliable conclusions about the existence of a correlation relationship, it is necessary to continue research on the mentioned issue, in particular, to study the detection and frequency of cases of thyroid gland and pancreas dysfunction in groups of people infected with and vaccinated against Covid-19.

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common chronic disease. In a number of developing and industrialized countries, diabetes mellitus has become an epidemic and is one of the leading causes of death. The rapid increase of cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the past decades has made it a widespread metabolic disorder. In recent years, an increasing understanding of how our microflora is linked to obesity-related T2DM has provided a new potential target for reducing the risk of T2DM. The aim of our project is to expand our view on the key roles of microflora during the onset and development of T2DM as well as its complications. Our aim was to study 2 groups of people with T2DM and Prediabetes in order to reveal any gastro-intestinal problems. According to questionnaires, it appeared that patients with diabetes type 2 had 3 or more gastrointestinal disorders, 72 % had bloating, 16% constipation and 12% diarrhea. Patients with prediabetes had 3 and more intestinal disorders: 5...

Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease that can be divided into different molecular subtypes, each with different clinical and pathological characteristics. HER2-positive breast cancer is a subtype characterized by overexpression of the HER2 protein, which is associated with aggressive tumor behavior. The process of epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) is believed to play a critical role in tumor invasion, metastasis, and resistance to therapy in HER2-positive breast cancer. Tumorinfiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) are an important component of the host's immune response against Georgian Scientists/ქართველი მეცნიერები ტ. 5 N 2, 2023 149 cancer, and their presence and composition have been shown to correlate with clinical outcome in various types of cancer, including breast cancer. Our study aims to reveal the phenotypic heterogeneity of EMT in different tumor sites, including the primary tumor focus, tumor "Buds" and metastatic lymph nodes by molecular typing of HER2enriched breast cancer. The expression of EMT markers, including E-cadherin, Beta-catenin and vimentin, was measured and significant differences in expression were detected. The presence of EMT in the main tumor focus and tumor "Buds'' was associated with a worse clinical outcome. Furthermore, the presence and composition of TILs varied between tumor sites and correlated with the expression of EMT markers. Based on the findings, it can be assumed that EMT is a heterogeneous process and that the presence of EMT in different tumor sites may have different clinical implications for HER2-positive breast cancer. Identification of biomarkers associated with EMT and TILs may facilitate the development of targeted therapies and improve personalized treatment for patients with HER2-positive breast cancer.

Anxiety disorders have become the number one mental health issue in developed countries. The number of people living with anxiety and depressive disorders rose significantly because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although generally considered as safe and effective, the currently available anxiolytic therapy is responsible for numerous side effects and addiction. Therefore, there is an imperious demand for discovering more efficient and cheaper new groups of pharmaceuticals ("green anxiolytic"). There is a big number of research, studying plants containing coumarins as active compounds, especially those belonging to the Apiaceae family. Laboratory studies already suggest the anti-anxiety activity of various extracts of Angelica Archangelica. Therefore, the aim of our study was to obtain the methanolic extract of Angelica adzharica and evaluate the potential anxiolytic effect based on the zebrafish larvae model. According to our knowledge, this is the first report studying the anxiolytic effect of Angelica adzharica extract based on the zebrafish larvae.

Herein we are presenting unusual case of severe neutropenia and JIA in a child. To our understanding, in this particular case, maternal Covid-19 caused an unusual presentation of neutropenia and JIA, with very high ANF. The role of neutrophils in pediatric rheumatology is an understudied field but is receiving increasing attention. Although clearly implicated in JIA, the specific contribution of neutrophils to pathogenesis and the use of neutrophil activity as biomarkers require further study.

In the region of Bolnisi-Dmanisi, mineral extraction is carried out, where the certificate (ISO) is not maintained and the environment is polluted. Quantitative study of heavy metals, in particular cadmium, in this area shows that an increase in the concentration of cadmium is observed along the coastline of the Mashavera river, which poses a threat to human health. Aim of the study: monitoring of the content of cadmium in the water of the river Mashavera in the region of Bolnisi-Dmanisi. Monitoring in 2021-2022 revealed that the concentration of the heavy metal cadmium in the Mashavera river is increased, especially in the summer period in the settlements located near the quarry. The fact is very remarkable and requires the adoption of appropriate measures, as the population uses this water for irrigation, and the cadmium contained in the water accumulates in the vegetables, the population uses vegetables for food. The accumulation of cadmium in the human body is a risk factor for the development of acute or chronic diseases.

The article discusses issues of crisis communication, a still developing direction among social sciences. Its thorough study began in the 80s of the 20th century and, therefore, it is accompanied by certain difficulties, including different opinions about the definition, the lack of empirical studies and the undefined possibilities of social media, because of which a crisis can be planned and instigated in the virtual space by a single social network user. It should be noted that crisis communication, as a discipline, is mostly based on the case study method, and the existing theories of crisis communication are being improved along with technological progress. Virtual space itself creates new crises and dictates new, unusual standards of crisis communications, with which there is virtually no precedent for dealing with. However, social media has a great opportunity to influence not only the course of crisis communication, but also the future perspective of companies and the formation of public opinion.
