The objective of the study is to investigate the essential attributes of the new media and present them as a set of binary oppositions: real – virtual, private – public, interpersonal – mass, broadcast – interaction. The author analyzes the new media as a sphere of virtual social being of the modern people, where they are faced with such issues as self-identification, adaptation, responsibility, distinction between true and false or private and public. On the one hand, the diffusion of real and virtual spheres turns online environment into a source of significant social connections. On the other hand, this gives the network identity a playful and changeable nature. Due to broadcasting and interactional models of mass communication coexisting simultaneously, a user immerses into the communication flows of everyone with everyone, where they could be both an influential creator and distributor of content...
For almost two decades, the Web has changed the world and revolutionized the way information is stored, published, claimed and consume. Ripple effect is so broad that it not only affects the operations and development of the industry but also already is transferred to politics, medicine, the media and breaks through and over of the geographical location, cultural borders and ultimately, affects the daily lives of people. Social media and social networking have some overlap but they are not really the same thing. Knowing that they are two different marketing, social and media concepts, it can make a difference in the understanding of how my personal and as well business position is going forward. But what makes social media is of particular interest for journalism is hot that has become as influential as a form of communication and a bulletin of the special and extraordinary news. Since from 2010, Google as well as Microsoft are starting integration of the messages from Twitter towards their own search engines, and use a new form of search called as a Real-Time Search. We need to look for answers to the questions: How does social media influence the news? Is Twitter the new media "drain hole" of the future? What is the Twitter effect? What is Twitter Journalism? How the social media and other Web 2.0 technologies such as blogs affect the operations in creating of the news when it comes to reporting on certain events? How does social media have influence on how journalists receive, collect and distribute the news? What this means for the future of the news? Social media and Web 2.0 changing the way news is gathered and reported with the help of such news and about what it means for the future of news. Finally, this paper will try to answer: Does the journalism still mean something and/or anything? Who is the reporter of the future? How will looks like the space for the creation of the news in future? So, what is, in fact, journalism in the age of social media?

The narrative of internet news is still mainly textual even when information comes from different previous media (press, radio, TV) or it is an “online native” cybermedia. Also its design is more related to a press one rather than an audiovisual one, bearing in mind internet potentialities. Only when we paid attention to infographics or some kind of specials, we could appreciate clearly an innovation in online journalistic genres. We propose a methodology to analyze online news from different type of cybermedia: only online and previous ones come from press, radio or TV. Methological approach will be based on content analysis and Information Architecture and Visualization, Interactive Design, Usability and Genre will be applied as main academic principles. Our aim is to focus on informative treatment and conclude which characteristics and at what level is cybermedia influenced by their previous counterpart (press, radio or TV). We will select one topic everyday and we will compare it between different cybermedia. The selection of topics will include all sections offered and we are planning to carry on it during one month. Keywords: Content analysis, genres, information architecture, design & visualization, interactivity, methodology, online journalism, usability.

The paper deals with the impact of new media (the Internet and new communication devices) on the traditional journalism. In recent years we have witnessed the “battle” between print newspapers and online newspapers published on the Internet. Although publishers and editors have discovered the potential of online newspapers (e.g. economic factors, simple and cheap distribution), in many cases they have become “siblings” of the press. However, there are still many examples suggesting that the online news sites are a standalone competitor to the press. To answer the question of what is the future of print newspapers and whether they have a future in their traditional form, it is necessary to take into account many factors. The authors work with the assumption that newspapers fight to attract the attention of their readers with both content and design. There is a continuous decline in readers’ interest in hard news as they often prefer soft news and entertainment. The arrangement of text in online editions of newspapers is different from the press since the online newspapers have a different structure specifically designed for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets to enable quick and easy manipulation of the online content.
The digital environment makes the notion 'journalism' quite a loose concept as well as changes content consumption patterns. At present traditional media is undergoing a transformation. Both digital communication and gadgetization strengthen the role of journalism and generate such new media paradigms. The identification of a new role of journalism is the main task of this article. We would like to take a look at trends and tendencies occurring in both emerging digital environment and journalism. For this purpose the hypothesis that there are two key functions of journalism in the digital environment has been advanced. 1function of «self-identification»: Info-communication media supplements traditional media content with some content and products of new media. Digitalization eliminates differences between mass media and types of social media content. Mass communication is becoming 'customized' and 'personal niche', the most corresponding to interests and preferences of a user. An internet platform gives a reader a possibility to highlight his role by choosing a particular platform on the ground of some competitive advantage. 2 -function of «initiation»: By putting forward the function of 'initiation', we appeal to the case where the use of the term 'initiator' in relation to the rite of initiation (registration on any social network) is permissiblein reference to a person or a group of people who insisted on carrying it out.
The internet was first used in 1985 and since then it has led to certain significant innovations in many fields around the world. These innovations area also valid for journalism. The internet has transformed both Professional practices and publishing methods in journalism. In our study, we analyzed the transformative impacts of the internet on journalism practices. In accordance with the study, a questionnaire on internet usage habits was conducted to a group of local journalists working in Konya. There are 15 local newspapers active in the center of Konya province according to the 2016 database registration of Konya Press Advertising Agency. Besides there are 33 newspapers in nearby towns of Konya. While the newspapers located in the city center have 225 journalists, the ones in nearby towns have 100 in total. 42 of the journalists who applied the questionnaire have closely experienced some professional transformations while working actively in the press. The survey was conducted to measure how often and to what extent journalists used the internet in the process of making and publishing news. Throughout this survey, innovations that the internet brought to journalism was questioned and the internet`s impact on the journalism of tomorrow was reported. The journalists conveyed their internet experiences about the profession and we analyzed how journalism was changed by the internet and new technologies.

A lot of change is happening in the world of journalism with the arrival of digital technology. The journalist in this changed scenario is expected to explore multimedia options. There is also a paradigm shift with readers and viewers now becoming a part of the news making process. Write-ups', pictures, and audiovisual content are increasingly being published by the citizen on websites, blogs, video sharing platforms, and social media. While this has been hailed as democratic and down to top approach, there is a question of credibility. Theories of digital media which have influenced digital journalism have talked about immediacy, interactivity, multimodality, convergence, the broader economic and social factors, the formation of separate networks or reformation of existing networks, a virtual shared platform for communication, actor-network and plurality. However, the question of credibility and the spread of fake news online have raised some new questions. This paper will try to analyze the nature of digital journalism, the various theories which have been applied to explain digital journalism and explain why a new approach is needed in the present scenario.

In online or new media, the style of storytelling has dramatically changed, and feedback is quite immediate. There is always evaluation or alteration which is a need for a society which goes towards development. Online journalism has also enhanced citizen journalism as it has an optional advanced search, background, powerful medium, a fine strategy, ideas, perception and a lot more. Online media now influence the readers or listeners to concentrate. This article explores the analysis of digital and traditional media in this era where masses are adopting it in many means, not in terms of getting information only. Today where blogging is considered journalism, the new media is creating risks for traditional media due to its outdated feature. In the beginning 1990’s online news deeply took content originating from traditional media, but online journalists have set their own editorial policy, goals, strategy, and agenda. The traditional media like newspaper allows mere consumption of information regarding happenings nationally and internationally whereas through online media a social change also occurred for opinion makers. New media is not the substitute or the replacement of traditional or conventional media but it is all about dependencies between and among media. In this context, the article pays consideration towards the new evolution of both mediums.
