—"Jesus-Christ and the Chinese Religious World", Studia Missionalia, Roma, vol.50, 2001, pp.391-405. The present article takes the risk of forwarding to the world of Chinese religions the question asked by Jesus throughout the ages: "Who do you say that I am?". Obviously, the answers given here are "constructs" brought forth by an outsider. Moreover, they are mere glimpses on a tradition of which the richness cannot be captured or even suggested in the length of an article. However, I hope that this limited attempt will provide the reader with an idea of the resources that the Chinese tradition embodies for expressing anew the encounter between Christ and humankind.

Evangelicals dominate the landscape of Chinese Christianity in North America today. Their rapid growth parallels the influx of Chinese immi- grants from Asia over the past three decades. As the children of these immigrants (who were born or raised in North America) came of age, their religious orientation and use of the Bible have developed in a manner dis- tinct from that of their parents. How these second-generation Chinese evangelicals appropriate the Bible will be the focus of this article. I will argue that second-generation Chinese evangelical biblical interpretation has been bound by two perspectives: (1) the European immigrant experience as the model for their identity discourse; and (2) a white American “evangeli- cal universalism” that subordinates racial identities. Consequently, there is a subtle Orientalism implicit in second-generation Chinese evangelical dis- course that needs to be critically engaged and eventually excised.

Living in the liminal spaces of the “in-between” has not been comfortable to many Chinese Christians. Nevertheless, they are not called to inerrant readings of the Bible, though that is one goal, but to biblical faithfulness. This requires a trust in God that his Spirit will “work all [interpretations] for the good” (cf. Rom 8:28) as we humbly listen to each other, becoming a global church. “Now we know only in part, then we will know fully, even as we have been fully known” (1 Cor 13:12). We need to study the Bible using all the exegetical and hermeneutical resources at our disposal, in ecumenical humility and hospitality.
This paper will be giving strong evidences such as survey conducted by sexologist and sociologist, and such studies are constructed by accessing Chinese culture; in other words these are societal and cultural issues. I will be giving my own personal point(s) of views from different perspectives such as education, attitudinal judgment, cognition, and charity.The summary will be concluded the main stream of how the attitudes changing in Chinese and/or China according to chronological order and events, and some significant results of the studies mentioned in the research part, the second part in order to convince reader.
