rhBMP(骨形成タンパク質)v-FRIOS Algipore(石灰藻由来の多孔質ハイドロキシアパタイト)複合体がラットを用いた直接覆髄実験において効果的に良質な修復象牙質形成を誘導するか検討した。

Carotenoids in photosynthesis play threefold functions of light-harvesting, excess energy-dissipation, and structural stabilization of pigment-protein complexes. In this review, after introducing basic idea for the molecular architecture and functions of purple bacterial photosystem, photophysics of carotenoids is extensively explained. Special attention is paid for the current understanding of the ultrafast relaxation processes of carotenoids following photoexcitation, which has been clarified by time-resolved laser spectroscopy with unprecedented temporal resolution of sub-20 femtosecond. Another attention is paid for the vibrational relaxation in the electronic excited-state, which has been demonstrated by femtosecond time-resolved stimulated Raman spectroscopy. Finally, topics concerning the coherent control of the light-harvesting system are introduced as a future perspective in this particular research field.

Ultrafast spectroscopy with a white-light Michelson interferometer is explained. By using an incandescent lamp, it is possible to obtain femtosecond time resolution both in the linear (free induction decay) and nonlinear (photon echo) spectroscopy.

Superconducting conductors are applied in the toroidal field (TF) coils, poloidal field coils, and central solenoid (CS) in the ITER. The Japan Atomic Energy Agency plans to procure 25% of the TF conductors and 100% of the CS conductors. Mass-produced Nb 3 Sn superconducting strands for TF conductors have been supplied by two manufacturers since 2008. The total length of the strands is approximately 23,000 km; thus, quality control is extremely important. A statistical process control has been adopted in order to reduce the dispersion of strand performance, and stable performance of the mass-produced strands was achieved. Both manufacturers improved the fabrication yield through mass production. Approximately 72% of the Japanese share in TF strands has been produced as of October 2011.

A method is presented for designing the thermal control system for 50 kg-class micro-satellite using a genetic algorithm. Replacing the thermal control system into a heat transfer model, i.e. a thermal network model, the problem is treated as an optimization problem to find suitable combinations of adapted thermal control elements under admissible function keeping the controlled temperature within a selected band width. Admissible function used herein consists of two parameters; the one is a slope of temperature variation and the second is an amplitude of temperature variation during on orbital motion of satellite. To demonstrate the validity of the proposed method, the method is applied to two examples for the thermal control system design of a 50 kg-class micro-satellite, tentatively called "SOHLA-1", under development.
