In this paper, a conceptual design and a detailed design of novel cylindrical magnetic levitation stage is introduced. This is came from planar-typed magnetic levitation stage. The proposed stage is composed of cylinder-typed permanent magnet array and semi-cylinder-typed 3 phase winding module. When a proper current is induced at winding module, a magnetic levitation force between the permanent magnet array and winding module is generated. The proposed stage can precisely move the cylinder to rotations and translations as well as levitations with the magnetic levitation force. This advantage is useful to make a nano patterning on the surface of cylindrical specimen by using electron beam lithography under vacuum. Two methods are used to calculate required magnetic levitation forces. The one is 2D FEM analysis, the other is mathematical modeling. This paper shown that results of two methods are similar. An assistant plate is introduced to reduce required currents of winding module for levitations in vacuum. The mathematical model of cylindrical magnetic levitation stage is used for dynamic simulation of magnetic levitations. A lead-lag compensator is used for control of the model. Simulation results shown that the detail designed model of the cylindrical magnetic levitation stage with the assistant plate can be controlled very well.

Surface properties such as morphology, crystalline structure, and chemical composition of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blend coatings prepared by dispersion coating on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) film have been investigated. It was observed that the surface properties were greatly influenced by the coating temperature and blend composition according to SEM, ATR-FTIR and XPS analysis. The typical surface morphology of α-crystalline structure of PVDF could be observed when the coating temperature was lower than 120 o C or the amount of PVDF was higher than 80 wt% in the blend. Otherwise, the crystalline structure was changed from α-crys- tal to γ-crystal or amorphous state. Based on the XPS analysis, the surface segregation of PVDF chains in the blend coating was confirmed.

In Projection Stereolithography Apparatus (PSLA), Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) are used as a beam pattern generator. The DMD shows high resolution, but it is mostly applied in micro stereolithography due to high cost and fabricable area. In LCD, the size of pattern beam is freely controlled due to various panel sizes. The LCD, however, has some limitations such as short life time by the high power light source, non-uniform light intensity of pattern beam and low transmittance of UV-light. To solve these problems in LCD-based PSLA, a Scanbeam-SLA with LCD of 19 inches and visible LED-array is developed. In this system, the light module works like a scanner for uniform illumination. The system configuration, working principle and fabrication examples are addressed in this study.

In spite of the various techniques on the testing of embedded software, operation failures of embedded systems such as robot or satellite applications, are occurred frequently. The critical reason of these failures is due to the fact that software is embedded into a target system with inherent faults. Therefore, in order to prevent the failure owing to such faults, it needs a technique to test the embedded software which operates in real environment. In this paper, we propose a testing technique, aspect-based On-the-Fly testing that is to test the functionality and performance at real operation time. Our proposed technique gives some benefits of real test of unexpected input conditions, prevention of software malfunction, and reusability of aspect components for the testing.

In this paper, we propose a session management and control architecture for N-Screen services, which enable users to change devices and transfer contents among user's devices during service by session transfer and split. In N-Screen services, users may have multiple devices with different attribute such as screen resolution, CPU capability and access network interfaces. Also, since users may change devices during service, or one user may use multiple stream, N-Screen services need to enable the user to share and transfer contents across N-Screen devices. We introduce the management and control servers to provide session split over user multiple devices and session continuity while changing device. Furthermore, the proposed architecture provides the device capabilities aware session continuity. In addition, the proposed scheme minimizes the session transfer delay and content server processing load. We present results that show the effectiveness and usefulness of proposed architecture.

Lithium carbonate recovered from the waste solution generated during the lithium secondary battery manufacturing process contains heavy metals such as cobalt, nickel, and manganese. In this study, the recrystallization of lithium carbonate was performed to remove heavy metals contained in the powder and to increase the purity of lithium carbonate. First, the leaching efficiency of lithium carbonate according to pH in the aqueous hydrochloric acid solution was examined, and the effect on the recrystallization of lithium carbonate according to the equivalent and concentration of sodium carbonate was confirmed. As the equivalent and concentration of sodium carbonate increased, the recovery rate of lithium carbonate improved. And the SEM image showed that the crystal shape was changed depending on the reaction conditions with sodium carbonate. Finally, the high purity lithium carbonate of 99.9% or more was recovered by washing with water.

The Triangle Mesh Warping method is suggested and applied in coordinate transformation to world geodetic system in this study. The common points of Uiwang city are used to compare the transformation accuracy of the suggested methods with existing national coordinate transformation methods. As a result, the Triangle Mesh Warping method was satisfied with accuracy criteria for positioning on a map larger than scale 1/1,000 with smaller number of common points and without distortion modeling. Additionally, in case of Guri and Pyeongtaek city that established the World Geodetic System, the suggested method generates the result of transformation accuracy better than 5cm. Based on the test, it was found that the suggested method improves the problem of securing many common points and reduces the problem of mis-match between the transformed data of adjacent areas. Accordingly, for transformation of large-scale topographic map, cadastral map, GIS DB and serial cadastral map to the World Geodetic System, it is judged that the Triangle Mesh Warping would be a good method for economical efficiency and accuracy using by minimum common point.

Probabilistic nonlinear first ply failure loads of flat composite panels and nonlinear buckling loads of curved composite panels with cutouts are estimated to provide the more reliable main load carrying structure in the renewable energy industry and offshore structures. The response surface method approximates limit state surface to a second order polynomial form of random variables with the results of deterministic finite element analyses at given sampling design points. Furthermore, the iterative linear interpolation scheme is used to obtain a more accurate approximation of the limit state surface near the most probable failure point (MPFP). The advanced first order second moment method and the Monte Carlo method are performed on an approximated limit state surface to evaluate the probability of failure. Finally, the sensitivity of the reliability index with respect to transformed random variables is investigated to figure out the main random variables that have an effect on failures.

In this study, we studied optical properties on the layer-by-layer (LbL) assemblies consisting of Au nanorods and organic dyes. For this purpose, poly (allylamine hydrochloride), PAH and poly (styrene sulfonate), PSS were selected as ionic polymers and rhodamine B isothiocyanate (RB) was utilized as an organic dye based on its spectral overlap with plasmon band of Au nanorods. In the view point of assembling methods, RB was covalently attached to PAH, then, LbL structure of Au [PSS/PAH]2/PSS/PAH-RB was prepared by sequential coating of PAH, PSS, PAH-RB on Au nanorods. Since the prepared LbL assembly exhibits both plasmonic and fluorescent properties, we studied the mutual nanorod-dye properties by dissolving Au nanorods.

The effect of Bi(Mg 1/2 Sn 1/2)O 3 (BMS) modification on the crystal structure, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties of Bi 1/2 (Na 0.8 K 0.2) 1/2 TiO 3 (BNKT) ceramics has been investigated. The BMS-substitution induced a transition from a ferroelectric (FE) tetragonal to a nonpolar pseudocubic phase, leading to degradations in the remnant polarization, coercive field, and piezoelectric coefficient d 33. However, the electric-fieldinduced strain was significantly enhanced by the BMS substitution-induced phase transition and reached a highest value of S max /E max = 633 pm/V under an applied electric field of 6 kV/mm when the BMS content reached 6 mol%. The abnormal enhancement in strain was attributed to the field-induced transition of the pseudocubic symmetry to other asymmetrical structure, which was not clarified in this work.

This paper proposes a new type of high-frequency directional valve controlled by the piezostack actuator associated with displacement amplifier. As a first step, a dynamic model of directional valve which can operate at 200 Hz with a flow rate of 12 litter/min is derived by considering pressure drop and flow force. As a second step, an appropriate piezostack is selected by considering actuation force as well as field-dependent displacement. Subsequently, in order to control spool displacement and flow rate a proportional-derivative(PD) controller is designed based on the 3rd-order valve

The water soluble quantum dots (QDs) are synthesized by the phase transfer and silica coating reaction. The photoluminescence intensity of silica-coated QDs are mainly affected by the amount of phase transfer agent, SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate), and the maximum value is obtained at the cmc (critical micell concentration) concentration of SDS in the phase transfer reaction. Based on fluorescence spectra and field emission transmission electron microscope (FETEM), the energy transfer rate by forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) is increasing with the thickness of the silica shell coated on CdSe/ZnS QDs.

Cement has been traditionally used as a main binding material of high ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composites. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the feasibility of using alkali-activated slag and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers for manufacturing high ductile fiber reinforced cementless composites. Two mixture proportions with proper flowability and mortar viscosity for easy fiber mixing and uniform fiber dispersion were selected based on alkali activators. Then, the slump flow, compression, uniaxial tension and bending tests were performed on the mixes to evaluate the basic properties of the composites. The cementless composites showed an average slump flow of 465 mm and tensile strain capacity of approximately 2% of due to formation of multiple micro-cracks. Test results demonstrated a feasibility of manufacturing high ductile fiber reinforced composites without using cement.

This paper suggests a non-contact sensor for measuring bending vibration of a non-metallic cylinder in two orthogonal directions simultaneously. Recent research shows that a solenoid can pick up bending vibrations of a nonmetallic cylinder based on the reversed Lorentz force mechanism if an electrical conductive patch is attached to the cylinder. In this work, pairs of specially designed patches are used to make two independent paths for the current induced by bending vibrations, which enables the measurement of bending vibrations along two orthogonal directions simultaneously. The working performance of the developed sensor was verified by using two accelerometers.
