Although ancient Greek has been a major subject at the University of Lund since its foundation, the teaching of Modern Greek began in 1957, under the influence of the increasing interest in Modern Greek literature and the needs of Swedish archaeologists working in Greece. The Department of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Lund, now independent from the Department of Ancient Greek, has constituted one of the 35 Departments of the Centre for Languages and Literature since 2006 and it provides teaching, at both undergraduate and post-graduate level, research and translation of Greek authors. Even though funding from the Swedish government guarantees the existence of Modern Greek studies at the University of Lund, the support from the Greek State and Greek Institutions is considered essential for the future of Departments of Modern Greek Studies in European Universities in general.

Ο Merlin Peris, ομότιμος καθηγητής Κλασικών Σπουδών στο Πανεπιστήμιο Peradeniya, έχει συγκεντρώσει ενδιαφέρουσες πληροφορίες σχετικά με τους παραλληλισμούς και τις ομοιότητες μεταξύ Ελληνικών μύθων αφ' ενός και θεμάτων του Βουδιστικού βιβλίου pansiya panas jataka, αφ' ετέρου.[1] Τέτοια μυθολογικά 'στερεότυπα' εμφανίζονται οικεία στους λαούς στην Ανατολή αλλά και στην Δύση, καθένας δε από αυτούς φαίνεται να πιστεύει ότι οι θεμελιώδεις ρίζες των μυθικών πλοκών ανήκουν στους ίδιους από την αρχή του μύθου. Αυτά τα συγκρίσιμα θεματίδια αποδεικνύονται περισσότερα από ό,τι είχε αναγνωρισθεί πριν από αυτήν την έρευνα του Merlin Peris.

C’est un bien de l’âme, acquis grâce à l’expérience et à la diligence de l’individu lui-même et de ceux qui lui apprendront, selon la logique du phronimou, à prévoir le temps, les circonstances et les événements afin de procéder à une décision correspondante à la fois et d’exécuter un acte correspondant. Par la suite, des postes clés pour l’évaluation et le développement professionnel des enseignants, tels que formulés dans la littérature contemporaine internationale et grecque, font l’objet de cette étude. Je me permets donc de présenter une tabulation et une analyse de la demande de phronèsis de l’enseignant dans son ensemble et de ses implications dans le domaine du développement professionnel, avec la relation d’équivalence trouvée. En particulier, les éléments qui rendent efficaces les actions de perfectionnement professionnel des enseignants et contribuent potentiellement à leur phronèsis sont mis sous examen. Pour cette raison, un effort est fait pour évaluer le développement professionnel efficace des professeurs qui enseignent le grec ancien dans l’enseignement secondaire, en vue de la phronèsis et du but d’améliorer l’enseignement. Grâce à la méthode Delphi, des conclusions sont tirées et des suggestions sont faites qui peuvent être utilisées pour le développement professionnel des philologues, sur la base de la phronèsis de l’enseignant, telles qu’elles sont délivrées par Aristote et Isocrate et adaptées aux besoins contemporains de la pratique éducative. L’argument de base de la thèse présente est que l’enseignement est la phronèsis et que le but d’un développement professionnel efficace est d’acquérir la phronèsis de l’enseignant. EN Phronesis, as evidenced by aristotelian and isocratic texts, which are, first of all, studied in this doctoral thesis, is the intellectual virtue of man to contemplate and to decide on particular situations of human life, based on sound logic and aiming at a prosperous life. It is a good of the soul, acquired through the experience and diligence of the individual himself and those who will teach him, based on the phronimou logic, how to foresee time, circumstances and events, in order to proceed to a corresponding decision at a time and execute an action accordingly.
