The objective of this study is to identify the causes of pedestrian volume path to the destination by investigating the influential levels of regional and planning features in the central area of Seoul. Regional characteristics can be classified from the result of the analysis and through the spatial characteristics of pedestrian volume. For global scale analysis, Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression is used for the degree of influence of each characteristics to pedestrian volume. For the local scale, Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) is used to identify regional influential factors with consideration for spatial differences. The results of OLS indicate that boroughs with transportation facilities, commercial business districts, universities, and planning features with education research facilities and planning facilities have a positive effect on pedestrian volume path to the destination. Correspondingly, transportation hubs and congested areas, commercial and business centers, and university towns and research facilities in the Seoul central area can be identified through the results of GWR. The results of this study can provide information with relevance to existing plans and policies about the importance of regional characteristics and spatial heterogeneity effects on pedestrian volume, as well as significance in the establishment of regional development plans.

The purpose of this paper is to study the external factors of Neolithic social changes, especially the influence and acceptance between groups. This paper compares the data of northwest Korea and Liaodong peninsula of China with the data of central-western region. The relationship between the information circulation and material culture change in the same stylistic group and the acceptance pattern of external factors is investigated. The results showed that the intra-region interactions within the same stylistic group was peaked at the 2nd phase of Gungshan style, and the 3th phase was weakened. The inter-region interaction between different stylistic groups was also the most active in the second phase, which was later considered to be weakened. In order to extract the generality and particularity of the case, the cases in the surrounding areas are examined. As a result, the material culture changes of certain societies with acceptance of external cultural factors are divided into as follows: ① the change of subsistence, ② the change of ceramic assemblage, ③ the combination of the two. The processes of acceptance can be divided into Ⓐ migration and Ⓑ the selective acceptance of information. According to different regions and periods, there were only ① or ②, and there also be a combination of them(③). The case ③ is mainly carried out through the Ⓐ process, and the case ① is through the Ⓑ. Case ② is possible through both Ⓐ and Ⓑ. Among these models, the cultural changes in the central-western region confirmed that the main contents and process of Gungshan phase 2 are ① + Ⓑ ; ② + Ⓑ after Gongshan phase 3.

There is an increasing need to foster new industries at the local level. This study aims to analyze the spatial patterns of new industries in Korea from 2007-2017 and to figure out its determinants of agglomeration in 2017. Through this study, it is found that new industries are unevenly distributed around Seoul Metropolitan Area(SMA). The regional disparity between SMA and non-SMA is prominent. Furthermore, new industries represent a strong spatial positive autocorrelation, showing a strong concentration on a few regions in Korea. This study explores the determinants on agglomeration of new industries with spatial statistical model. From the results of spatial error model, it is indicated that the number of graduate students, the ratio of technology based start-ups, and the number of elementary, middle, and high schools have a significant effect on new industries. In addition, the specialization and the diversity of industrial structure on knowledge-based manufacturing industries and knowledge-based service industries have been statistically significant. This study provides implications that non-SMA needs policies with respect to attracting talented people, developing human resources, and improving regional environment in order to improve regional competitiveness in promoting new industries.

Today, photovoltaic power generation mostly uses Si crystalline solar cell modules. The most vulnerable part of the Si solar cell module is that the power generation decreases due to the temperature rise. But, it is widely used because of low installation cost. In the solar market, where Si crystalline solar cell modules are widely used. The CPV (Concentrated Photovoltaic) module appeared in the solar market. The CPV module reduces the manufacturing cost of the solar cell by using non-Si in the solar cell. Also, there is an advantage that a rise in temperature does not cause a drop in power generation. But this requires high technology to install and has a disadvantage that the initial installation cost is expensive compared to normal Si solar cell module. So that we built a testbed to see these characteristics. The testbed was used to measure the amount of power generation in a long-term outdoor environment and compared with the general Si solar cell module.

This paper suggests a new method for calculating the transaction price index, which applies cluster analysis to ameliorate interregional heterogeneity and instability caused by missing data of transaction prices. In order to address the issue concerning missing values, absent data were estimated by using either the linear regression model, which utilized clustering information, or the linear interpolation model, depending on the continuity patterns of missing values. And in order to address the issue of interregional heterogeneity, the clustering analysis-applied apartment transaction price index for administrative district Gu was drawn from information on transaction prices of administrative district Dong. As a result of analyzing data of apartment transaction prices in Seoul from July 2011 to June 2016, it was found that the clustering analysis-based apartment transaction price index is more suitable than the existing index in terms of data applicability and the alleviation of regional inconsistencies.

Background: In 2015, the Korean government raised tobacco tax, which resulted in increased tobacco prices by 80%. This study examined the trends of smoking behavior, quantity of smoking, and changes in smoking behavior and its associated factor after the tobacco price increase. Methods: We used data from the Korean Welfare Panel Study for 2014-2018. To investigate trends in smoking behavior and quantity, we assessed the proportion of quitters and the smoking quantity of persistent smokers after the tobacco price increase. Using multinomial logistic regression analysis, the study identified the association between socio-demographic and health-related factors and changes in smoking behavior from 2015 to 2016. Results: Out of 2,012 smokers as of 2014, 19.7% of smokers quit after the implementation of increased tobacco prices in 2015; however, this rate gradually decreased from 19.7% in 2015 to 8.6% in 2018. Similarly, smoking quantity significantly decreased from 15.53 sticks to 14.85 sticks in 2015 but increased to 15.95 sticks in 2018. The probability of quitting was higher among women or the elderly. Compared with the middle-income group, the low-and high-income groups were more likely to quit smoking after the increase in tobacco prices. Conclusion: The increase in tobacco tax, which was implemented in 2015, temporarily led to smoking cessation and reduction of tobacco consumption. A higher probability of quitting was observed among persons with low-income status, which suggests that considering price and nonprice policies is necessary to increase long-term smoking cessation.

With the motto Equity from the Start for a Healthy Future , the Seoul Healthy First Step Project (SHFSP) was ' ' launched in 2013 in an attempt to support women with young children, to improve the health and development of babies, and eventually to close the gap in child development. The SHFSP contains both universal components (universal risk assessment of mothers and universal home visitation after birth) and selective components (prenatal and postnatal sustained home visits, mothers groups, and community service linkage), thereby taking ' a proportionate universality approach. For sustained home visits, the SHFSP introduced the Maternal and Early Childhood Sustained Home-visiting (MECSH) program from Australia, which has been proven to be effective in improving maternal and childhood outcomes. Between 2013~2017, the SHFSP has paid 58,327 visits to roughly 38 thousand families with babies. In 2017, the SHFSP covered 19.6% of families with newborn babies in Seoul. The SHFSP conducted internal satisfaction surveys of universal and sustained visitation service recipients, in which an overwhelming majority of mothers provided positive feedback. A performance assessment conducted in 2016 by an external organization showed that 93% of SHFSP service recipients were satisfied with the home visitations. Considering the popular support for the program from mothers and families in Seoul (the most affluent area in Korea) and the lack of a national home visiting program to promote early childhood health and development, this program should be expanded nationally in the near future.

This study aimed to identify the relationship between the attitudes toward doping, sport orientation, and perceived motivational climate in sport, and to provide useful information on the anti-doping strategy. Methods: A total of 567 athletes in 21 sports completed four questionnaires Performance Enhancement Attitude Scale (PEAS), Sport Orientation Questionnaire (SOQ; competitiveness orientation, win orientation, goal orientation), Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ; task orientation, ego orientation), and Perceived Motivational Climate in Sport Questionnaire-2 (PMCSQ-2; ego-involving and task-involving climates). They were divided into four categories: speed/power (n=201), endurance (n=154), motor skill (n=119), and team (n=93). We identified the difference of variables among four categories and verified possible factors significantly associated with attitudes toward doping. Results: The PEAS of athletes in both speed/power sports and Team sports was higher than motor skill sports, and the team sports athletes also showed higher PEAS than endurance sports athletes. In speed/power sports, the task of TEOSQ and the win of SOQ were related to PEAS, and in endurance sports, the task of TEOSQ and the ego-involving of PMCSQ were related to PEAS. In motor skill sports and Team sports, the task-involving of PMCSQ and the goal of SOQ were associated with PEAS, respectively. Conclusion: The results of this study provided new insights into the psychosocial mechanisms of attitudes toward doping, and it would contribute significantly to effective anti-doping strategies based on sports characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the meaning and lexical morpheme of author keywords of humanities, social sciences, and art and sport in the Korea Ciation Index (KCI) and to propose a conceptual taxonomy of the author keywords. Four top-level concept categories such as 'Substance, Abstraction, General/Common, and Object' are replaced by seven more concrete categories such as 'object, action/function, property, theory/method, format/framework, general/common, and Instance'. In the middle and lower-level concept categories, the hierarchical structure is simplified and the unbalance of term distribution is reduced by creating, subdivision, integration, elimination, and movement of the categories. The result of the test based on the STNet shows that the replaced taxonomy of concept categories has the effects of making the term allocation more balanced and properties of terms more detailed.

Korea entered the US wig market in the mid-1960s and rapidly grew at once. This was possible in a trade environment where wigs were popular as fashion accessories in the West from the 1950s, and the United States participated in the Vietnam War and regulated the trade of Chinese people. Korean wig workers processed Asian hair from underdeveloped countries, including Korean hair, to suit the taste of whites in the West. In the late 1960s, when the fashion changed from human hair wigs to synthetic fiber wigs in the United States, Korean wigs responded with mass-production of small items, and mass-produced low-wage wig workers. As a result, the price of wigs became cheaper, and blacks joined the wig consumers, which in conflict with the American black human rights movement led to a decline in wig prevalence, leading to a reduction in wig workers in Korea.

From the perspecitve of Housing asset-based welfare, homeownership has an impact on social benefit as well as asset accumulation effect. It has been known that homeowners are more interested in local affairs than tenants since they want to maintain their investment as a form of housing in terms of economic and psychologic viewpoints. However, it is hard to find such studies which have dealt with social impact of homeownership and most of current literature are focused tenure choice, dwelling satisfaction or asset accumulation impact in Korean context. This study tried to examine whether higher homeownership rate is related with higher voting rate in urban areas with a view that housing can be a tool of local capacity building instead of mere investment target by applying multiple regression analysis. According to the analysis, homeowneship rate is positively correlated with voting rate when we control the other socioeconomic, demographic, political and regional variables. With this result, it is suggested that housing welfare policy should tackle the issues related to enhancing affordability of households to purchase their housing in addition to current policy focused on wide supply of public rental housing.
