The most important Native language of El Salvador, Nahuat-Pipil, is an omni-predicative language. This typological affiliation presupposes that nouns are not simple words but complete sentences in themselves: kal, “it is (the/a) house”. A corollary of this premise specifies the referring function of verbs. If a noun predicates, a verb nominates. A complete sentence can be nominalized —ø-ta-kwa-tzin, “the little one who eats something; the opossum”— to become an argument of a new predicate.
