Where common procurement guidelines are used, guidelines have been evaluated in terms of their relevance to construction works. Comparison The tender documentation, communication procedures, selection process, selection panel, and presence of feedback and compensation were the main areas of concern in all of the guidelines. They will be used to evaluate the ethical component of the guidelines. By comparing each guidelines stance towards these areas of interest we can determine:

The ISO has issued a Draft International Standard on construction procurement and the British Standards Institute is drafting a standard based upon this for use in the UK. Three questions arise from these observations. First, what kind of consultation processes would be adequate to ensure that such a standard meets the requirements of an industry as diverse as construction? Second, why would an international standard be inappropriate for use in a country like UK? Third, what sort of issues should such a standard seek to cover? There are strong precedents for process standards, such as quality assurance, design management and workmanship on building sites. So the idea of a standard on procurement is not unusual. Moreover, there are many differences in tendering and procurement practice that are wasteful and even collusive or illegal. These issues are explored with a view to offering insights and suggestions for guidance based on the experiences in UK. The research method is first-hand observation of the drafting committee who are dealing with the British Standard. As an example to test and inform the standardization concept, six different standard guidance documents on tendering procedures are compared. This reveals a significant degree of diversity, and based on this, nine stages for implementing a tendering procedure are derived.

These challenges are evident in procedures used for selection of contractors and consequent, performance of projects. This study explores the challenges of Due Process Policy Model (DPPM) procedures for the selection of contractors for public projects between 2002 and 2008 in Nigeria. The procedures mandate certain categories of the procurement of public construction contracts to undergo a sequence of activities. Such procedures include advertisement, prequalification, short-listing, invitation, tender action and project execution. Observations are made on procedures of selection of contractors for 47 projects using DPPM. Moreover, interviews were conducted to seek clarifications on some of the challenges identified in DPPM processes. Arguably, DPPM is gaining more popularity in Africa. Thus, observations made on the challenges of DPPM will improve its capacity for adoption within and outside Africa; motivate innovative procurement processes, with significant impact on international contract procurement policy makers and contract procurement officers. International contractors willing to explore the growing capacity of the construction market in Africa will discover significant and appropriate understanding of the basic requirements of DPPM.

It determines the overall framework and structure of responsibilities and authorities for participants within the building process. It is a key factor contributing to overall client satisfaction and project success. A methodology to diagnose and evaluate the procurement process for investment projects, and launch a continuous improvement was developed and applied to selected projects. A thorough literature review was carried out along with study of cases, surveys and interviews to professionals involved in this area. As a result, a methodology for diagnosis and improvement was proposed and tested in selected projects.
Over the last three decades, numerous procurement techniques have been one of the highlights of the Construction Management (CM) for ventures, administration contracting, venture management as well as design and construct. Due to the development and utilization of those techniques, various researchers have explored the criteria for their choice and their execution in terms of time, cost and quality. Nevertheless, there is a lack of giving an account on the relationship between the procurement techniques and the progressed related issues, for example, supply chain, sustainability, innovation and technology development, lean construction, constructability, value management, Building Information Modelling (BIM) as well as e-procurement. Through chosen papers from the reputable CM-related academic journals, the specified scopes of these issues are methodically assessed with the objective to explore the status and trend in procurement related research. The result of this paper contributes theoretically as well as practically to the researchers and industrialist in order to be aware and appreciate the development of procurement techniques. .

The primary consideration in a successful delivery requires an integrated process in the form of procurement route i.e. to obtain the best value for money. Its necessity is from inception stage itself and the organisation has to choose the right procurement route that suits the client's requirements, experience etc. However, selection will depend on the type of project, but today the demand for construction procurement route is increasing with the trend towards alternative delivery routes such as construction management, design-build and management contracting etc. This fact sheet after analysing different procurement routes enlightens a particular procurement route which has most success ratio (or) special interest for different construction projects justified by qualitative and quantitative approaches.

The development of sustainable relationships grounded in ethical practice is necessary to ensure continued success in the construction industry. In order to achieve this, stakeholders need to shift from a ‘low ethics’ base to a ‘high ethics’ base in their business transactions. Ethics and principles should be integrated into every aspect of the construction procurement process as a natural thought process. This research paper focuses on the promotion, management and diffusion of ethical practices in the construction industry identifying ways in which these factors encourage widespread cultural change.
