This research aimed to analyze prevalence of vitamin B12 deficiency and anemia, and effects of vitamin B12 suplement on vitamin B12 serum and hemoglobin of preschool children. A randomized controlled trial of 32 preschool children (4-6 year) for 6 months was appliad. Subjects divided in to 2 groups, treatment group (received 10 μg vitamin B12 syrup daily) and control group (placebo). Consentration of vitamin B12 serum and hemoglobin of children was measured before and after their intervention. The results of research indicate that prevalence of vitamin B12 deficiency and anemia among preschool children was 24,1% and 41.4% respectively. After getting vitamin B12 suplement, vitamin B12 deficiency of treatment group decreased from 26.7% to 0.0%, while in the control group increase from 21.4% to 28.6%. Vitamin B12 suplement influenced vitamin B12 serum level significantly ( p < 0.05). Vitamin B12 serum increase at the treatment group148.4 ± 110.9 pg/ml and only 3.7 ± 12.8 pg/ml at control group. Hemoglobin concentration was influenced vitamin B12 suplement especially to anemia preschool children.
