Las creencias en la educación matemática

2013, Educere

Abstract

This article shows a documentary research on beliefs. After content analysis, some of them were found: (a) Beliefs are socially induced, are idiosyncratic, and represent constructions that the person creates in his/her process of learning the surrounding world; (b) beliefs have a strong influence on the selection of contents taught in class; (c) beliefs help to create myths and social representations that are shaped, transformed, reinforced or removed by the experiences lived by each person; (d) beliefs may be taken as ruling principles in which every single knowledge of human origin is supported by a belief system; and (e) beliefs have a strong influence on affection towards mathematics.
