Cultural Opposition: Concepts and Approaches

The call of European Commission of the Horizon 2020 programme, entitled Cultural Opposition in the Former Socialist Countries, was based on the assumption that there are a number of historical sources pointing out the great variability of independent cultural activities and movements opposed to socialist regimes in Europe. The call highlighted that the evidence of civic and political courage played an important role after 1989 and launched a competition to create a general online register of these collections. The author of this article analyses local referendums in the Czech Republic from the perspective of Jeffrey C. Alexander’s cultural sociology. Local referendums are usually seen as part of decision-making processes within the political sphere and investigated using the tools of political sociology. The concept of Alexander’s relatively autonomous civil sphere and his theoretical project of cultural sociology offer an explanatory framework relating this type of decision-making practice with the symbolic code of civil society. The cultural structure of civil society is manifested in two levels of discourse – in negotiations on specific issues within local referendum campaigns and in public debate about the legitimacy of referendums as instruments of direct democracy. Časopis Listy založil bývalý ředitel Československé televize Jiří Pelikán na počátku sedmdesátých let v Římě. Dvě nultá čísla byla připravena v roce 1970 u příležitosti prvního výročí smrti Jana Palacha a druhého výročí okupace Československa. Po těchto zkušebních číslech začaly Listy od ledna 1971 pravidelně vycházet jako dvouměsíčník, s hlavním cílem reprezentovat reformní kurz pražského jara po jeho porážce a podporovat jeho stoupence ve vlasti. Od té chvíle měly v záhlaví podtitul "Časopis československé socialistické opozice", který si ponechaly až do přesunu do vlasti, k němuž došlo bezprostředně po zhroucení komunistického režimu. Od svého založení až do převratných změn roku 1989 zastávaly Listy mimořádně důležitou roli v Evropě, která i přes mírové soužití a uvolňování napětí zůstávala drasticky rozdělena železnou oponou. Pod vedením Jiřího Pelikána a dalších představitelů posrpnové emigrace podporovaly cirkulaci myšlenek v Československu, žijícím pod tlakem okupace cizí mocnosti a normalizačního režimu, a poskytovaly opozičním a disidentským kruhům ve vlasti tribunu pro vyjádření vlastních názorů, obav či nadějí. Vedle toho se trvale snažily upoutávat pozornost mezinárodního veřejného mínění na "československou otázku", přičemž dávaly přednost vazbám na rozličné složky západní levice. European Integration and Protection of Western Cultural Tradition. -The text is based on an analysis of key documents forming the current institutional form of the European communities. By reference to other historical sources reflects the ideological ground of the European integration efforts, which according to the authors behind many misunderstandings and conflicts multicultural character.

This study is concerned with dominant political discourse in the Czech Republic. This discourse is structured by the circulation of theories/discourses of multiculturalism, nationalism and social exclusion (or “social non-adaptability”). The political parties analyzed are the ODS, ČSSD, KDU-ČSL, KSČM, SZ, TOP 09, VV, Severočeši.cz, and DSSS. The author constructs equations (in the manner of G. Baumann) of particular party discourses based on a qualitative analysis of the parties’ election programmes, stenographic records of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and Dělnické listy (the main journal of the DSSS). The aims of this study are: (1) a brief introduction to the relevant theories/discourses (i.e. parts of dominant discourse), (2) a description of the social constructions of “the Others” (by means of equations) from the point of view of Czech political parties, (3) intercomparison of these constructions, and (4) a construction of the overall equation of the dominant discourse

The article deals with the current state of narrative and narrativity in the situation of new media. After a short reflection on the transmediality of contemporary narrative (through the concept of media object of Axel Bruns) we comment on the changes of viewership in the "Netflix Era", and the situation of participatory media. The core of the article describes a wiki website TVTropes and its concept of "trope". In the TVTropes environment, unaffected by academic literary theory (as far as it seems from the stated sources), a "trope" stands for a frequently recognized part of a story, and not a figure of speech, and thus is much closer to the object of E. R. Curtius "topology". In the end, we reflect on the possible consequences or benefits of the conceptual shift described. O stranické historiografii Zamyšlení nad jednou knihou a jejím tématem Bohumil Jiroušek Marxistická, či zřejmě přesněji marxisticko-leninská historiografie v Československu je přes vzrůstající zájem zejména mezi mladou generací vědců stále poměrně opomíjeným tématem, o stranické historiografii to pak platí téměř absolutně. Zaujaly proto již dílčí texty Vítězslava Sommera, 1 který své poznání na tomto poli posléze zúročil v knize Angažované dějepisectví: Stranická historiografie mezi stalinismem a reformním komunismem (1950-1970), kterou vydalo v roce 2011 Nakladatelství Lidové noviny spolu s Filozofickou fakultou Univerzity Karlovy v edici České dějiny. The aim of this review study is to introduceand examine various concepts of neoliberalism,with special emphasis on the ongoingdiscussions in the field of anthropology. Dějiny – teorie – kritika

Cílem této studie je na příkladu dvou orálněhistorických výzkumů zabývajících se organizovanými sociálními skupinami (Sudetoněmecké krajanské sdružení a Vojenské sdružení rehabilitovaných) analyzovat napětí mezi konkrétní zkušeností narátorů a narátorek a politickou rétorikou sdružení, v nichž jsou organizováni. Byť se jedná o organizace s výrazně odlišnou orientací a vývojem, lze v narativech členů a členek obou spolků vysledovat jistou analogii. Autoři vychází z předpokladu, že organizované sociální skupiny používají k dosažení svých politických cílů aktuálně sdílené představy společnosti o minulosti, čemuž přizpůsobují také svou rétoriku. Narátoři a narátorky, kteří se otevřeně hlásí ke skupinám s jasně deklarovanými politickými cíli, tyto cíle do vzpomínkových rozhovorů (vědomě či nevědomě) projektují prostřednictvím narativních strategií a vzorců. Dějiny – teorie – kritika

Předkládaný příspěvek je reakcí na panelovou diskusi o etice v historiografii, uspořádanou na 12. sjezdu českých historiků v září 2022 pod vedením profesora Milana Hlavačky. Hlavním cílem této diskuse bylo zhodnotit nedávné aféry spojené s problémem plagiátorství v české historické vědě. V našem textu jsme se pokusili popsat a analyzovat některé ze souvisejících obranných strategií a zhodnotit rizika takového jednání. Hlavním cílem této studie je rozebrat otázku obranu proti neetickému chování obecně. Tento článek považujeme za začátek seriózní diskuse na toto téma v rámci české akademické obce.
