Colecția "BiblioLeader", inițiată de către Biblioteca Națională în anul 2020, urmărește scopul de a scoate în prim-plan și de a promova personalități care își dedică viața Bibliotecii, Informației, Cărții, Educării oamenilor prin lectură. Pe lângă cele câteva titluri din această colecție, editate deja, Biblioteca Națională a elaborat, în anul 2021, volumul aniversar "In honorem Lidia Kulikovski" – cercetător, profesor, manager, bibliotecar de elită, numele căreia este echivalent cu acțiune, fapte și idei de succes, învățare permanentă, comunicare efi cientă. Volumul aniversar este o culegere de articole științifi ce, o platformă de idei, analize și sinteze, experiențe în biblioteconomie și științe ale informării, de refl ecții și evocări, ce conturează portretul profesional și personal al protagonistei volumului.

Alexandru Ioan Cuza (1859-1866), Ruler of the Romanian United Principalities, had also reigned during his years on the throne over Southern Bessarabia, meaning the counties of Cahul, Bolgrad, and Ismail. These counties had been taken from the Russian Empire, who had appropriated them in 1812, and were reunited with the Principality of Moldova through the peace treaty signed at the end of the Crimean War (1856). To oppose the process of Russification to which the Romanian population between the rivers Prut and Dniester had been subjected, thus also the people in Southern Bessarabia, ruler Alexandru Ioan Cuza gave much attention to the education system. He had to start from the beginning with the creation of an education system in the Romanian language, which used the Latin alphabet. He created there a completely new education system: a new group of teachers, Romanian schools, Romanian handbooks, curricula. For this, the basis was the Education Law of 1864. In conclusion, I can write that ruler Cuza created the basis for the development of the Romanian education system, including that of Southern Bessarabia, a development which would happen during the time of his successor, Prince Carol I.

According to the ESFRI list, the European forefront research and development efforts in the field of high power (tens and hundreds of Petawatt) lasers will be focused for constructing the "Extreme Light Infrastructure" (ELI). The infrastructure will consist of 3 (later 4) pillars: in Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania. It will be the first "multi-sited" European large-scale infrastructure and also the first to be located in the new EU members in Central and Eastern Europe. Romania will host the pillar ELI-Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP). A Consortium of the 3 host countries was formed and other interested countries are expected to join. This Consortium will evolve in an European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), a framework recently adopted by EC. At ELI-Nuclear Physics is foreseen Scientific Research at a new frontier in physics-the laser-nuclear physics frontier (www.elinp.ro). The ELI-Nuclear Physics Scientific Center will have, as major instruments, two 10 PW lasers and a very brilliant γ beam system. The goal is to employ nuclear techniques, for better understanding the laser-target interaction, and design new experiments, for exploratory studies in fundamental physics and in applied science, by using the high intensity laser field and/or a γ beam with unprecedented performances of peak brightness and bandwidth.

Every year the Department of Physics and Engineering Sciences organizes the physics contest "In memory of the distinguished pedagogue of the Republic of Moldova Petru Medveţchi", attended by 7th-12th form pupils from the Northern part of the Republic of Moldova. The paper contains the assignments included in the contest in 2017, when 180 pupils participated.
