Abstract

Instruments used by Architecture and Urbanism applied in workshops with children have been re-signified in the form of devices with the purpose of taking them to the identification of Educating Territories (TEs). In this article, we present the methodological references that support this research based on Cartography as a method and on the thought of Paulo Freire, above all, the idea of reading the world, based on a process that considers the experience of knowledge made by literacy students for their territorial literacy. We present how the devices were gathered around Mapping, which resulted in an Atlas of TEs that was both a synthesis and a new device for the children’s dialogical learning process. The application of the methodology revealed a set of speeches, writing and graphics by the children that allowed them to be heard from an experience plan regarding their vision of the territory and reflect on their role as cartographers of their lived reality.
