After the widespread of the corona virus disease 2019 corona virus pandemic, most educational institutions stopped conventional in-class teaching all over the world. The Metropolitan University of Tirana (UMT) in Albania took a rapid decision for shifting to online education by estimating that the pandemic might continue longer than expected, which could create difficulties to gain the time lost. Considering these circumstances, UMT immediately formed a specialised team to prepare the roadmap for starting online education. This team evaluated the existing online platforms and prepared a guideline to be followed for a smooth shift. As a consequence, the university shifted to online education with more than 80% of the students' attendance from the earliest days. This study presents the road map that was developed rapidly and applied effectively for a quick but smooth shift to online education.

In a few words, some advantages of quality online teaching are: low expenses, timesaving, learning at one’s own pace, motivation, communication, attention etc. Disadvantages of online teaching are: lack of social face-to-face contact, extreme exposure to screens, all sorts of distractions due to inappropriate work environment, inadequate te...
ONLINE EDUCATION DURING COVID-19 PERIODS, 2020
Online education is the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance and/or support learning. It is an approach to teaching and learning that utilizes internet technologies to communicate and collaborate in an educational context. This includes technology that supplements traditional classroom training with web-based components and Learning environments where the educational process is experienced online. The covid-19 pandemic has affected educational systems worldwide, In an efforts to prevent the spread of covid-19 through nonpharmaceutical interventions and preventive measures such as social distancing and self-isolation have prompted the widespread closure of primary, secondary and tertiary schools all over the world leading to the near-total closures of schools, universities and colleges worldwide. These nationwide closures are impacting over 72% of the world's student population. In response to school closures, UNESCO recommended the use of distance learning programmes and open educational applications and platforms that schools and teachers can use to reach learners remotely and limit the disruption of education. Different countries worldwide have introduced various solutions during the pandemic to continue the education process. Online libraries, TV broadcasts, guidelines, resources, video lectures, online channels were introduced. In response to the pandemic, many schools moved to online distance learning via platforms like zoom. . However, several challenges were reported during the application of online learning in the global wide according to the literature. For example, Internet connection can be unreliable if there are thousands of learners learning simultaneously, some instructors can find it difficult to find online resources that are the most suitable in their teaching contexts, several instructors and learners do not have the appropriate digital skills to teach and learn online. This can make the online teaching/learning experience inconvenient for them. Online learning is an excellent option in education, particularly when there are hindrances to traditional learning. However some limitations are also noted that should be considered in the future.

Nearly 300 million students worldwide are disrupted in teaching and learning activities, and will threaten the rights of education in the future. The Covid-19 pandemic outbreak is a serious epidemic that must be dealt with by universities, as a result of this outbreak resulted in a change in the system of learning patterns that are ongoing. Mercu Buana University is preparing itself and adapting to face these uncertain conditions, one of which is setting up the system Perkuliahan Online Sementara / Temporer (POST) . So that the teaching and learning process and lectures can continue. Implementation of the system Perkuliahan Online Sementara / Temporer (POST) can be applied and used as a model to replace the conventional lecture system. Can be used as an evaluation in online learning, know the most dominant variable in influencing online learning
The period of study in the online environment can be a very demanding trial for students and masters, especially for those who are not familiar with computer technology. This is largely due to a complex of factors that come from the changes to which they are subjected, such as: leaving the parental home and settling into another living environment (living in dormitories or other forms of accommodation) but also settling with an unfamiliar and very different educational environment from what they were familiar with. Along with all the changes occurring in the family and social plan, the students had to adapt to the educational system made exclusively online. Higher educa-tion institutions in Romania use, as a method of knowledge transmission, traditional learning methods, namely they use face-to-face lecture-type courses in a lecture hall or practical and ex-planatory activities in a seminar/laboratory room. The emergence of this pandemic forced higher education institutions to switc...

Online learning is a learning methodology implemented during the recent COVID-19 outbreaks. Lecturers and students need to use appropriate online platformsarising from the Movement Control Order (MCO) restrictions with effect from March 18, 2020, in Malaysia. In essence, the MCO prohibits Malaysians from attending to or organizing mass events or public gatherings, and where public and private educational institutions are concerned, they are not allowed to conduct any classesin situ. The only possible continuation of classes is via online learning. This case study had two research objectives: 1) Whatwere the challenges faced by educators when implementing online learning? and 2) How to overcome these challenges faced by educators in online learning? This study had applied the qualitative approach method, where researchers had distributed surveys, through a google platform, to a total of 20 educators. The results showed six (6) major challenges faced by educators in online learning, these being 1) students were less focused on online learning; 2) the platform/medium of learning was not satisfactory; 3) students left behind learning tools such as books and laptops in residential colleges; 4) students' internet access was less satisfactory to the extent that the lectures had to be extended from the actual time allocated; 5) educators' unstable internet access which disrupted the momentum of teaching; and 6) students did not attend the online courses. There were four (4) means to overcome these challenges 1) institutions to provide more comprehensive and e-learning platforms for online learning; 2) internet access for educators and students should be good to ensure smooth and uninterrupted online classes; 3) providing workshops or training programs on management of online classes for educators; and 4) for courses involving mathematical computation, in addition to a more suitable platform for teaching, the student population per group to be small in size to accommodate 10 educators while teaching. The results of this study shall benefit the management of private higher learning institutions and educators involved in online learning.

Online studies are becoming more common. Every year, the number of universities that offer online programs in addition to the traditional model increases. The global pandemic that has affected the whole world in recent months has imposed an urgent temporary reorganization of the educational system both in the world and in Serbia. The time and results of students' work in the coming period will show whether the online way of education (during the pandemic period) brought good results, but it is certainly time to change the education system. This research aims to point out the advantages and disadvantages of online learning, as well as its impact on student achievement, which was achieved by researching the number of applications, assessment of student turnout and taking subjects before and after isolation. The obtained results would indicate how the development of technology should be managed in the future in education systems, in order to reduce potential negative impacts to a minimum and in order to make education as high quality as possible.

The pandemic COVID-19 has forcefully shifted the mode of teaching and learning from only face to face to online in the higher education of Nepal, which is new experiences and practices for many of the teachers and students. In this context, this study investigated teachers’ and learners’ perspectives on online education in relation to its benefits, challenges and strategies during and after COVID-19 in higher education of Nepal. To achieve this objective, online survey research design was employed. Survey questionnaire were used in the study to determine the perspectives of 280 teachers and students from five universities of Nepal. The results showed that the participants experienced online education beneficial primarily for promoting online research, connecting the practitioners to the global community and getting huge and authentic resource of knowledge though they have found time-management skills, more freedom to the teachers and learners, and reliable internet at workplace as the extreme challenges. The research also revealed time management skills, technological prepared and computer literate are the basic qualities for the practitioners who want to have online education. The participants suggested that ICT policy should be clear and courses should be developed accordingly. Only online mode of teaching and learning in the context of Nepal cannot be effective so the participants preferred blended learning. The findings of the research indicated that online education can be an alternative means of traditional education. Thus, if blended approach is implemented, the education process would be more effective and successful in the contexts like Nepal.

The COVID 19 pandemic found the management of universities and many university teachers well prepared, but others only partially acquainted with the use of electronic tools in teaching. Many universities in Slovakia have been working for a long time (ten to fifteen years) with technical support for education and supplement the full-time form of teaching with thematic e-learning packages, for instance in the moodle system. They can work with them in full-time and distance education. However, the COV-ID-19 pandemic redirected teaching from full-time teaching exclusively to a mediated technically supported approach to online education. The paper aims to define and analyse online education in terms of digital skills and competences requirements. Particular attention is paid to the key digital skills and competences of higher education teachers working in a new educational reality framed by the effects of digital transformation, which requires higher education educators to create and apply innovations in online education at universities.
