PÂNICO SATÂNICO: CRUZADAS MORAIS E SUAS INSTRUMENTALIZAÇÕES

Abstract

This assignment approaches Brazilian episodes of the so-called satanic panic, not only proving the existence of rooted moral panic as an exacerbated concern, but also how the judicial system was used in an inquisitive way against people simply accused of witchcraft, satanism and/or black magic, as well as the inquisitorial awakening of 2 society and the judiciary against innocent people, only with the evoking of certain terms and behaviors considered taboo, and, consequently, in all cases the true perpetrators of the crimes were never found or even sought. In analysis we reveal how ordinary cases become social panics, linked with fears rooted in our culture, we saw how the great media demand can turn rumors into judicial cases, we glimpse superficially the consequences suffered by the investigated. As the Brazilian conjuncture provided the episodic hysteria of the cases, and as this is reflected in the hard hand of an inquisitorial state, we also reveal the genesis of moral panic.
