Environmental problems do have a universal dimension: they concern entire humanity as well as each human being individually, therefore, a new ecology needs to be developed in which man will play a principal role being a focal point of the study, its creator and executor of its assumptions, the discipline thus understood is one of the aspects of general ecology for it studies relationships between man as a species and its environment, the author believes that, regardless of the standpoint that representatives of various sciences may take, the future of our species depends on the interdisciplinary approach toward the questions that are subject to human ecology studies.

The concept of human ecology comprises a full and integral, scientific view of the human person and their natural environment. It is a theory which protects the person from various reductionisms. On the other hand, however, it allows perceiving the dangers which result from these incomplete views. We clearly name these threats and point out how to prevent or, in case they exist, counteract them. The theory also allows noticing the natural dependencies which link people to their environment. Besides noticing these, it also points to the way to care for and develop these natural ties. The essential thesis of this concept is to value society as an important element of the natural human environment. This comprises a unique novum in the description of this environment.
This article discusses anthropocentric, ecocentric, sustecentric and biocentric theories, correlating a designated approach to capitalism and sustainable development. In order to ask: what is the ecological status of human ecology? Regarding the changes caused by man's action in nature and the very change that these actions infer his perceptions. Evolving biologically and socially entails changes, and it is pertinent to highlight that environmental problems, illusory issues of environmental preservation accommodate society, following the anthropocentric and capitalist bias. However, biocentrism presents an idea of respect between human ecology and interactions with the environment, addressing environmental education as one of the primary alternatives for changing attitudes, cultures and the perception that natural resources are finite, and they must be preserved for present and future generations.

A collation of environmental ecology with human ecology was the essence of the article. The field of the research included the topics: blending the range of care for ecosystem with the responsibility for our own human nature; presenting a connection between sexuality and procreation concentrated on the gift of marital unity yet protecting the dignity of human procreation; pointing at the areas of human life where the “ecological conversion” takes place.
As we enter the twenty-first century, ecological concepts have been adopted by, and adapted to, virtually every academic and applied field-from the social sciences and humanities to engineering, planning, medicine, business, and politics. With ever-increasing awareness, humanity is arriving at an understanding that we live in an ecological-and a human ecological-world.

This research aims to discuss the scientific status of human ecology in Brazil. As a methodological proposal, a bibliographic review was conducted on the topic, using the contributions of national authors, which allowed the analysis of information through the construction of articulated links. To do this, the following points were established as parameters for the evaluation of scientific status: the existence of concepts; hypotheses and propositions; and methods and research techniques specific to human ecology. The research highlights the discussion about the positions of the analyzed theorists who present themselves as participants. In this way, the present article contributes to the discussion about the scientific status of human ecology in Brazil and it approaches the concept of a scientific paradigm because it is not bound to the limits of the disciplinarity or of a science for presenting elements that distinguish it as a discipline.

Human Ecology explores not only the influence of humans on their environment but also the influence of the environment on human behaviour, and their adaptive strategies as they come to understand those influences better. ... For us, Human Ecology is a methodology as much as an area of research. It is a way of thinking about the world, and a context in which we define our questions and ways to answer those questions ...

The term human ecology was first used in 1921 by sociologists at the Chicago School of Sociology. During the 20th century definitions and interpretations of human ecology have varied considerably, not only between the natural and human sciences, but also among academic disciplines in the social sciences including anthropology, geography, psychology and sociology. This paper presents some key concepts and principles that stem from a wide range of contributions. Then it shows how ecological concepts could be used to interpret human settlements.
