Dalam rangka mencukupi kebutuhan Ruang Terbuka Hijau sesuai yang diamanatkan Undang-Undang dan mewujudkan citra Beautiful Malang, Kota Malang berusaha membenahi ruang publiknya, yaitu taman kota. Taman kota bagi Kota Malang merupakan perwujudan pelayanan kebutuhan masyarakat sekaligus memiliki fungsi pelestarian cagar budaya, karena terdapat sekitar 7 taman yang sudah ada sejak Kota Malang berdiri (1 April 1914). Ketujuh taman tersebut adalah Alun-Alun Tugu, Alun-Alun Merdeka, Taman Merbabu, Taman Cerme, Taman Slamet, Taman Gayam, dan Taman Ijen yang kemudian menjadi fokus dalam penelitian ini. Taman-taman tersebut diaggap dapat mewakili penilaian terhadap impresi masyakarakat dari pengguna media sosial (melalui Instagram) di Kota Malang. Media digital menggantikan media konvensional dengan cepat. Selain karena media digital memudahkan pemenuhan informasi, juga karena generasi milenial lebih menyukai media digital yang mampu mengikuti perkembangan kebutuhan generasi mereka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui intensitas milenial dalam membaca media cetak dan media digital, mengeksplorasi harapan mereka (gratification sought), serta melihat pemenuhan media terhadap kebutuhan mereka (gratification obtained). It is a city-park located at the center of the city, there is a red bridge inside which is very popular among the people of South Tangerang. There is also the tributary of Cisadane and lots of bushy trees, which provide natural shades. Social media is a necessity for everyone because of its usefulness and has an impact on life both to socialize and to boost the economy. This is an opportunity for the tourism sector to promote tourist destinations with a wide market tourist segmentation. Consumers or tourists perceive social media as a more reliable source of information about the promotion of products or services. However, the majority of stakeholders related to tourist destinations in Indonesia have not optimized the use of social media as a promotion. Mall building is a place where urban communities come together with their specific interest. People go to the mall with their independent needs without any emotional bonding between each other. As a public space, mall is trying to meet the needs of urban communities especially as an entertaining space for the visitors. Go to the mall has become a way of life in urban society, as a destination for the whole family. While on the other hand the existence of many mall building are the traits of sick city, because as a public space, city does not meet the social and environmental objectives anymore. Jakarta has more than 75 building mall, it has exceeded the limit of the population. Mall has become a phenomenon because it has met the lifestyle of urban society but on the other side mall has spent water absorption area. This disagreement about mall building requires a mall that friendly to the environment, so that the green open spaces and water absorption area can be provided or replaced as well. The next discussion is about mall that should build friendly to the environment and its importance to the urban community.

ABSTRAK. Ruang terbuka publik digunakan masyarakat kota untuk melakukan kegiatan sosialisasi. Taman kota merupakan salah satu elemen perkotaan yang memberikan pelayanan spasial pada masyarakat dan meningkatkan kualitas lingkungan kota. Pelayanan ruang kota yang berkualitas adalah pelayanan yang dapat memberikan kenyamanan dan memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna ruang. Dengan kenyataan ini maka perlu dilakukan studi untuk melihat karaktersitik pengguna yang akan menjadi pedoman pengembangan ruang terbuka pada Taman kota yang sesuai dengan karakter pengguna. Metode kualitatif ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik pelaku kegiatan pada setting ruang taman kota dengan mengandalkan survei pengamatan di lapangan. Sidoarjo is an important city in East Java and it has several city parks with unique features and values. This article aims to elaborate the educational values of a city park in Sidoarjo. The data were collected trough review of literature and observation. Among several city parks in Sidoarjo, this article focus on the Alun-alun (city square) with Jayandaru Monument as its unique feature. The finding suggested that the city park in Sidoarjo has several educational values: (1) cultural values, (2) identity value, (3) sense of pride, (4) love to the city, (5) diversity and (6) tolerance.

This researcher aims to determine whether promotions on social media and electronic word of mouth have a significant effect on the decision to visit the Mahakam Lampion Garden in Samarinda city. The independent variable used in this study is the promotion of social media (X1) and electronic word of mouth (X2), and the dependent variable in this study is the visit decision (Y). This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling using the slovin formula and obtained 100 respondents using multiple linear regression analysis techniques. Promotion variabel in social media and visiting electronic word of mouth have a positive and significant effect on decisions.

Ruang terbuka hijau saat ini berfokus memiliki fungsi aktif dalam artian sebagai ruang sosial, yaitu sebagai tempat berinteraksi masyarakat, sarana olahraga, serta tempat rekreasi. Salah satu usaha yang telah dilakukan Pemerintah Jombang adalah membangun Taman Keplaksari sebagai RTH aktif berbentuk taman kota. Taman Keplaksari sebelumnya merupakan RTH pasif berbentuk hutan kota. Lokasi Taman Keplaksari yang strategis diharapkan dapat mengakomodasi aktivitas masyarakat Jombang serta menjadi persinggahan bagi masyarakat luar kota yang melintas. Namun pada kenyataannya fungsi sosial Taman Keplaksari belum terwujud secara optimal. Dibandingkan ruang publik lain di Jombang, jumlah pengunjung Taman Keplaksari tergolong rendah. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan analisis terhadap faktor internal (self generated) yaitu karakteristik pengunjung dan aktvitasnya yang bertujuan untuk membuktikan kesesuaian Taman Keplaksari sebagai ruang sosial. Dalam melakukan analisis faktor internal tersebut diidentifikasi berdasarkan sosial-ekonomi dan pola kunjungan. Karakteristik sosial ekonomi dibagi berdasarkan usia, jenis kelamin, pekerjaan, dan tingkat pendapatan. Sedangkan karakteristik pola kunjungan dibagi berdasarkan pasangan interaksi, frekuensi kunjungan, jarak yang ditempuh, dan moda transportasi. Hasil dari penulisan artikel ini berupa saran dan rekomendasi dalam meningkatkan kinerja Taman Keplaksari sebagai ruang sosial.

Newspapers are getting worse in Indonesia. Nielsen's survey in 2014 and 2017 showed the decline. This research wants to know the interest of student's consumption towards print media. The qualitative method was chosen because it can describe the choice of informants deeply. Data collection techniques used in this research are documentation and interviews with journalism students in Malang with Uses and Gratification Theory. The results revealed that Malang journalism students' interest in reading print was low. Student motives which include information needs and diversity are not met. Likewise in print media usage part is very rarely because of the difficulties in gaining access and having to buy or subscribe. The effect is most of the informants say that print media cannot fill their needs, so they turn to online media.
