This study was conducted to the grade 10 students of Saint Vincent’s Academy which consisted of 53 respondents. The respondents were 27 female and 26 male in accordance to their gender which was 53 in total. The respondents was supposedly be 63 but due to the reason of some student being absent in the given date of conducting the survey only 53 respondents were able to cooperate in the research. The study was able to determine the fact that the Saint Vincent’s Academy has an Academic library which uses a Dewey Decimal System of where in it is a proprietary library classification system first published in the United States by Melvil Dewey in 1876. Originally described in a four-page pamphlet, it has been expanded to multiple volumes and revised through 23 major editions (Dewey, Melvil 1876). The result of the research shows that high school students from grade 10 at Saint Vincent’s Academy agreed to “sometimes” go to the library “during their vacant time” specifically 47% of them. A majority of 57% of students stated that “sometimes” they go to the library to do research. Also 36% of the students stated to “sometimes” go to the library when they’re looking for answers in their assignments. Meanwhile 60% of the grade 10 students agreed to “always” visit the library to “relax their minds”. And lastly 40% of the students have the common reason of “recreation” to “sometimes” visit the library The research also showed that the most preferred type of book of the grade 10 high school students is Historical books with the leading 91% of readers. And the most disliked book among the academic book is the Mathematical book with only 9%. And only 47% of the grade 10 high school students stated that when they visit the library they read their preferred books. With these data the researchers came to a conclusion that although the grade 10 high school students have a seemingly high general average the number of their times of visit proves that the library still lacks some facilities and services. The minority of percentages in the interest of reading a book serves evidence in saying that the school’s library has lapses in providing students a place for learning. The research was conducted only to provide knowledge and understanding of both teacher and student and has no further personal issue about the matter.

Several things have been said in the field of pedagogy. But, this does not prevent the appearance of new educational concepts. The world of pedagogy has practically no limit. In our study, we attempted to identify the impact that school libraries could have on educational achievements. The statement of the problem was strengthened by two main questions: Could school libraries play a fundamental role in improving educational achievements? Could school libraries integrate their resources as pedagogical supports in the educational process? In our visits to thirty school libraries in the city of Constantine, we were able to conduct a descriptive study and collect interesting data that we analyzed through a qualitative approach. Significant results were obtained. The latter globally showed via several indicators that the school library, on the one hand, contributed concretely to educational achievements, and, on the other hand, played an efficient role in the learning process by providin...

The purpose of this paper is to present School Libraries Network Program (Ministry of Education) and its strategy concerning the creation and development of a national network, the elaboration of an Evaluation Model and the reference corpus of Learning Standards. This is the main goal of this presentation. Nowadays educational agents have a general concern regarding the tremendous transformation that technologies and social networks brought up to the present, placing on the agenda of educational institutions, policies, and new standards of reference about curricula and learning that today schools and school libraries must ensure. The conviction that school libraries can play an undeniable role in the acquisition of a set of critical skills vital in 21st century education, led us to the creation of learning standards for school libraries, associated with their mission and intervention in schools, called "Effective Learning in the School Library: the Portuguese School Libraries’ ...

This paper looks at the skills and competency base of the school librarian. The paper contends that these attributes are necessary if the school library is to be in a position to encourage the development of discovery and personal growth for both pupils and staff. The paper concentrates on the role of the school librarian working with teaching staff to make these conditions most fruitful. As well as traditional librarianship skills, the paper identifies a range of skills and competencies associated with management, marketing, and evaluation. The paper identifies a number of ways in which the librarian may work effectively with teaching colleagues. The paper concludes that, without this foundation, effective ongoing learning in the school library will be limited in extent and progression. As a result, the role of the library will be unperceived and undervalued. It is, therefore, important that time and energy are given to these essential aspects of the development of the school library. (Contains 14 references.)

This paper aims to describe how the role of the library for students is. And it also aims to describe how to maximize the role of the library as an educational media using descriptive analysis method. Maximizing the library management for student must be supported by a professional management and modern library by the school so that people can see concrete changes of a library. There are several things that can be done by the school in order to change the social stigma of the existence of the school. First, the library should be managed more professional. Second, the library should be developed with adequate facilities. Based on the role and duties of the library, the library needs to conduct educational programs or users so that the available library collection can be disseminated and used effectively and efficiently.
Library Philosophy and Practice
School libraries have been subjected to legislative reforms since the establishment of the Greek State. Occasionally, but not regularly, there have been plenty of relevant statutes, which were adjusted to the existing curricula and reflected the current trend in the educational system. Significantly, it is worth investigating whether statutes have ultimately carried out the various governments' stated intents. Needless to say, school libraries have never been considered as an essential component of an educational system, have been seriously suffering from a shortage of equipment and well-designed rooms, as well as from insufficient funding for book supplies. Finally, teachers themselves are frequently unaware of the role and the services that school libraries are able and have to offer in a modern school. Even nowadays, daily educational procedures can be accomplished without school libraries. In Greece, there has been an attempt to re-examine the operation of school libraries, ...

This article is a bibliographic review of the scientific production published internationally from 2010 until the middle of 2019 on the concept of School Library. The objective was to establish an updated status of the issue on the most relevant research in the school library area. In order to achieve this, a systematic methodology of bibliographic selection was applied in four search engines using descriptors related to the research objective. Therefore, a document bank consisting of 70 titles was obtained. This bank served as the basis of the scientific evidence of the review. The results obtained indicated that the main tasks of the school library are to promote the reading habit, to offer various reading media and to facilitate metacognitive learning in any area of the school curriculum. To achieve this, teachers and librarians must unify efforts in order to turn the school library into a pillar of the school’s educational project. Likewise, it is necessary to look for alliances in the social environment and to develop activities that boost the school library and in which families are also involved.
In this announcement basic characteristics of Greek bibliography on School Libraries are being presented and proposed directions are being suggested these libraries to apply/use. Furthermore our analysis focuses on the libraries educational role and their relation with the School teachers. At the same time, some of the main characteristics of the School Libraries in Greece are being provided.

In this paper we present the results of a research study, specifically focused on the way school leaders (principals), primary classroom teachers and teacher librarians from two grouping of schools in the south region of Portugal look at the School Library (SL). We have analysed the integration of the school library in teaching and learning activities and the role of the school library in processes of change and pedagogical innovation, namely based on the use of technologies. A survey was applied to 40 primary school teachers. Two principals, two assistant professors of principals, and four teacher librarians from the two grouping of schools were submitted to interviews. The quantitative and qualitative data were analysed and results show some differences between the two primary schools. In general, the participants in the study agreed that there is a positive effect of the SL on the teaching practices of the teachers. The SL is felt as an alternative learning space to the classroom, in the development of different methodologies and practices. The proposals and changes recommended by the teacher librarian were incorporated into the teaching strategies of teachers in a gradual way, as they realized the added value. The idea of the school library functioning as a nucleus for implementing innovations did not raise doubts. However, in practice, this situation is not always easy to achieve, with several factors influencing this dimension, namely the profile of teachers in each school and teacher librarians' time availability to work with classroom teachers.
School libraries have been the subject of a number of regulations since the establishment of the Greek nation, but school libraries have never been treated as an essential feature of educational programmes. They lack space, funds and equipment. Moreover, teachers are not aware of their role and services in contemporary schools. This article reports on a study that analyzed written texts produced by primary school teachers, discussing the function, role, and potential of school libraries. The teachers participating in the research described the ideal library, which is quite different from the reality in primary schools.

Working in a school library requires a professional who combines his library science técnias with knowledge of Education. From the premise that the library is no longer an accumulation of space but now a place of dissemination of knowledge, its performance changes, is increased. Thus, in 2013, the School Teaching Centre of Basic Education Library was called to offer one GTD – WGD - Working Group Differential - for students of the second cycle of human development. The GTD is a present discipline in the curriculum of Teaching Centre. The overall objective of GTD "storytelling" was to interest students of the second cycle of human training to become storytellers. The search activity to the dictionary, with a view to enriching the vocabulary, was called "The Word is". The librarian working together with teachers demonstrates the importance of this partnership and the good achieved consequences.

The today’s school libraries in Hungary trace back to the 18th century. After 1970 the school librarianship became an independent profession and library pedagogy was elaborated as well. Nowadays the Hungarian School Library Association provides the most support. In spite of difficulties Hungarian school librarianship has much strength but needs to be improved in many fields yet. There are well operating libraries, committed teacher librarians and a good legislation. Library instruction is built into curriculum. In 2012 has changed the education policy, which also affected school libraries badly. A way to save the profession is to elaborate the library pedagogy program and declare how libraries can support information literacy and independent learners.

The concept of bibliotherapy has been known since ancient times. Despite the concept's direct connection to books and libraries and despite its potential as a means of support and aid, it has not attained a clear status in library science. The therapeutic nature of bibliotherapy does not allow its full application in libraries, but the author suggests focusing on the developmental aspect of bibliotherapy and defining it with anew term: supportive knowledge. An experiment to implement these ideas was carried out in two schools in Israel by building a special self-help section in the libraries. There was an increase in reading, mainly among boys. The pupils were interested in books that represented their own personal problems, such as teenage dilemmas, drugs, sex, death, and violence. They began to discuss these issues openly among themselves and with the librarians. In addition, a close collaboration was created between the school administration, the teachers, and the librarians.
