AI-generated Abstract
The paper discusses the capabilities and implications of AI chatbots, specifically ChatGPT, in the education sector and second language learning. It contrasts AI chatbots with personal assistants, highlights ChatGPT's innovative use of natural language processing, and examines the concerns surrounding the accuracy and understanding of responses generated by these models. While acknowledging critiques from linguists like Noam Chomsky, the paper suggests potential benefits of utilizing ChatGPT in language education despite its limitations.

ChatGPT, an AI-driven chatbot, delivers coherent and valuable responses by analysing extensive data sets. This article explores the profound impact of ChatGPT on contemporary education, as discussed by prominent academics, scientists, distinguished researchers, and engineers. The research explores the capabilities of ChatGPT, its utilisation in the education sector, and the identification of possible problems and obstacles. Preliminary evaluations indicate disparities in ChatGPT's proficiency across a wide range of topics, including finance, coding, mathematics, and general inquiries from the public. ChatGPT may support instructors by creating instructional material, offering ideas, acting as an online educator for learners, responding to queries, and transforming education via smartphones and IoT devices. However, it also has limitations. These include the risk of generating inaccurate or false information and evading plagiarism detection systems, a critical concern for maintaining originality. The commonly reported "hallucinations" in Generative AI, which applies to ChatGPT, also limit its utility in situations where precision is paramount. A notable deficiency in ChatGPT is the absence of a stochastic measure to facilitate authentic and empathetic communication with users. The article suggests that educational institutions' academic regulations and evaluation practices should be updated if ChatGPT is integrated into the educational toolkit. To successfully adapt to the profound impact of ChatGPT in the educational setting, it is crucial to provide instructors and students with comprehensive knowledge of its functionalities and constraints.

This article provides an overview of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on various industries, with a specific focus on ChatGPT, a powerful language model developed by OpenAI. The article explains that AI is a rapidly growing field that involves the development of computer systems that can perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence. It also highlights that AI is being used to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and create new opportunities for growth, while also raising concerns about its impact on jobs and society. The article goes on to describe ChatGPT and its capabilities, including its ability to understand and generate natural language, making it useful for a wide range of applications such as chatbots, language translation, and text summarization. The article also lists some of the common uses of ChatGPT, including chatbots, language translation, text summarization, text generation, language modeling, and sentiment analysis. The article concludes by highlighting that ChatGPT can be used to assist students in a variety of ways, including writing aid, language learning, research and education.

This paper explores the correspondence between the use of ChatGPT and the generally accepted definitions of learning. The study compares the data provided by ChatGPT with well-known definitions of learning in order to determine if the use of the chatbot supports language learning. The research questions focus on the alignment between ChatGPT and the definitions of learning, the potential behavioral changes resulting from learning via ChatGPT, the learning experience provided by the chatbot, and the support it offers for language learning and the development of linguistic and social skills. The methodology of the study involves a qualitative approach, collecting data from university students who used ChatGPT to complete writing assignments. The participants were observed during their interaction with ChatGPT, and interviews were conducted to gather their perspectives. The collected data were compared to a list of definitions and concepts of learning and language learning. The results...

Artificial Intelligence (AI) started in the mid-20th century with the work of the British logician and computer pioneer Alan Turing. It continued with the Logic Theorist, a program simulating a human’s problem-solving skills. Since then, technology has travelled so fast, especially in recent years, with virtual assistants, chatbots, and ChatGPT launched in November 2022, an extensive language model developed by OpenAI. This engine received a large amount of text data as training, which includes books, articles, and websites, and has been fine-tuned on specific tasks to improve its performance. ChatGPT can generate coherent and relevant responses using Machine Learning and Neuronal Networks. This paper aims to provide an overview of ChatGPT, its features and drawbacks and its potential to disrupt and transform teaching, learning and research.

On November 30, 2022, OpenAI published ChatGPT, a general-purpose discussion chatbot that is anticipated to have a significant influence on all facets of society. The prospective effects of this NLP tool on education, however, are still unclear. The capacity of ChatGPT may influence adjustments to learning activities, educational learning objectives and assessment and evaluation procedures, which might have a significant impact. In order to create this essay, I piloted ChatGPT as part of a research (see, ChatGPT User Experience: Implications for Education). ChatGPT, according to the pilot study, can help academics write articles that are systematic, coherent, (mostly) right, and instructive. The author's professional experience was used sparingly to complete the article in 2 to 3 hours. I investigate the potential implications of ChatGPT and other similar AI technologies on education in the paper, relying on user experience. The report suggests modifying learning objectives, with an emphasis on enhancing students' creativity and critical thinking rather than broad skill development. Students should be able to employ AI tools to carry out subject-domain activities. Researchers should create AI-based learning projects that involve students in addressing real-world problems in order to meet the learning objectives. Concerns about students contracting out their assessment work are also raised by ChatGPT. The article comes to the conclusion that new evaluation forms are required to emphasise creativity and critical thinking, which AI cannot replace (for details, read the paper).

A chatbot is software used to develop interaction between a user/human and a computer/system in natural language, similar to human chats. Chatbots converse with the customer in a discussion following input from a human and a response to the customer. It makes the user believe that he is chatting with a human while chatting with the computer. The chatbot application helps the student to get information about the college admission process and get quick answers from anywhere with an internet connection. This chatbot system reduces the workload of the admissions department by providing students or parents with the information they need and also reduces the workload of the department, which has to constantly answer all the students' questions.

This paper reports on the comparison of the accuracy and quality of the responses produced by the three artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, ChatGPT, YouChat, and Chatsonic, based on the prompts (use cases) related to selected areas of applied English language studies (AELS). An exploratory research design was employed and we utilised purposive sampling. The three aforementioned AI chatbots were used to collect data sets. Of the three chatbots, YouChat was technically unstable and unreliable, and had some inconsistency in generating responses. The other two chatbots, ChatGPT and Chatsonic, consistently exhibited a tendency to plagiarise responses from internet information without acknowledging the sources. In certain cases, the three chatbots all generated almost similar responses for different and unrelated prompts. This made their responses look like run-of-the-mill responses that lacked credibility, accuracy, and quality. One chatbot (ChatGPT) could not recognise a scholar ment...
Contemporary Educational Technology
Artificial intelligence (AI) introduces new tools to the educational environment with the potential to transform conventional teaching and learning processes. This study offers a comprehensive overview of AI technologies, their potential applications in education, and the difficulties involved. Chatbots and related algorithms that can simulate human interactions and generate human-like text based on input from natural language are discussed. In addition to the advantages of cutting-edge chatbots like ChatGPT, their use in education raises important ethical and practical challenges. The authors aim to provide insightful information on how AI may be successfully incorporated into the educational setting to benefit teachers and students, while promoting responsible and ethical use.
