Old Map Fonts Collection font

Random Discounted Bundle…

Inspired by actual cartographic materials from the 1600s, 1700s, and 1800s, the seven typefaces in our popular Old Map Fonts Collection™ give you all you need to simulate maps and charts from days gone by. Each hand-drawn alphabet has its own distinctive character, and all seven typefaces (ten fonts total) feature period map ornaments. This bundle saves you 45% off the price of licensing these fonts separately. View Details »

Bonhomme Richard font

Random Historical Pen…

NEW! Bonhomme Richard™ replicates the penmanship of John Paul Jones (1747–1792), a Scottish-American naval hero during the American Revolution. Named after Jones’ famous frigate (a name honoring Benjamin Franklin), the font has a legible elegance while evoking the distinctive cursive script of its late-1700s source material. Newest member of our Historical Pens bundle. Try it out here »

Sarabande font

Random Book Text…

Sarabande is Lars Bergquist’s painstaking reproduction of Jean Jannon’s famous “Garamond” of 1621—also known as Caractères de l’université. This truly lovely serif has Roman and Italic styles and a full range of Latin diacritics, but it lacks unhistorical glyphs such as those for higher math and logic. Sarabande is a favorite member of our discounted Book Texts bundle. Try it out here »

Bonnycastle font

Random Old Map Font…

The eponymous Bonnycastle™ replicates the bold, italic hand-lettering on the charts and maps of Sir Richard Henry Bonnycastle (1791–1847), an English officer and military engineer who served in the War of 1812 and settled in Canada. Comes with small caps, bunches of ligatures, stylistic alternates, and full Latin support. A member of both our Old Map Fonts Collection and Display Faces CollectionTry it out here »

Paestum font

Random Display Face…

Sekhmet, named for the lion-headed war goddess of ancient Egypt, does indeed have a sort of feline, forward-directed energy. Noteworthy are the slight slope of its book-weight Roman and its calligraphic Italic. A multi-use display face, Sekhmet nevertheless also works well in (especially larger) text blocks. A member of our discounted Display Faces bundle. Try it out here »

Marydale font

Random Modern Handwritten Font…

Marydale has three weights, Regular, Bold, and Black. It also has a particularly personable nature, rather like a chatty best friend. Better yet, it has a set of powerful OpenType features—true small capitals, dozens of ligatures, a less quirky stylistic set, and support for Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic languages. Among our most popular typefaces, and a member of our Modern Handwritten Fonts CollectionTry it out here »

Bonsai font

Random Antique Text Font…

A personal favorite among the text fonts I’ve designed, Bonsai™ is, well, top-heavy. But it’s this very top-heaviness—as if printed with worn or off-center lead type— that gives it a peculiar allure. It’s soft, warm, friendly, legible, accessible. Its roman and true italic styles have plenty of OpenType features, true small capitals, and Latin Plus support. (Note its use in the heads on this website!) Try it out here »

Treefrog font

Random Offbeat Font…

There’s nothing quite like Treefrog, which resembles writing made by someone who’s dipped a finger in spilled ink. This celebrated grunge font from the 1990s conjures a sense of whimsy, a flight of fancy. Fittingly, it comes with a series of droll ornaments (fish, chairs, garden tools). Oddly, it also has full Latin support—with more than 500 glyphs in all. A member of our Offbeat Grab Bag bundle. Try it out here »
